    I am really enjoying the friendly, lighthearted tone of these videos. The instruction is very easy to follow and I am going to get this pattern to make for myself and friends. When your “sewing assistant “ walked into the room, my dog heard him and got up and started looking for him! 😉 Keep up the great work and I like your videos in the cheerful surroundings of your sewing area and dining room. 👍

      Oh I'm glad you enjoyed it Kay, the apron would be a fab gift, if you're on Instagram, tag me in when you've made it, I'd love to see it. Rogue does the same when hears & sees other dogs on TV, they're so funny aren't they 😊

    Yes I wear aprons! I love aprons and have been wanting to make this style. I have neck issues and can’t tolerate the aprons that go around the neck and tend to put pressure on the neck. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful fabric

    Thank you, Sam, for your step by step tutorial on making this apron. Your explanations of the various symbols on the pattern were very helpful.
    Yesterday I downloaded the pattern and today I made the apron. I chose a textured
    cotton fabric that had a lot of give and a nice drape.
    I placed the main pattern piece one inch from the fold line of my fabric in order to fit a plus size friend.
    Tomorrow she can try it on for size. Hopefully the extra two inches through the bodice will suffice.
    I thought this apron was beautifully designed and I am going to make another one using a fabric similar to your example.
    I will modify the next apron by replacing the single, center pocket with two side pockets because my hands were searching for them.
    Thank you, I look forward to your next video.

      Aw thank you for your lovely comment Adelita, I hope that your friend loves her apron, you're right it is a lovely desing & I use mine every evening when I'm preparing dinner (we call it tea in Yorkshire 🤣) I will have another video up tomorrow, hopefully.

    Thanks for this video. I’m just getting started with this pattern and had a hard time visualizing the pocket. You explained it perfectly! I’m with you on wearing aprons around the house. I’ve ruined so many clothes with oil stains before I started wearing them. 🙂

      @Frugalisama  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad that you found it useful Alison, the pocket technique was new to me bt I do them all like that now, it's such a neat finish. That's the reason that I wear aprons too, oil is so difficult to remove. Thanks for watching 😊

    I’ve been wanting to make this pattern for a while now but just haven’t got to it. You really explain real world sewing. You made me laugh when you pointed out pin placement direction. I often pin incorrectly and when I get to my machine it’s all wrong. I’ve recently started pinning the sideway method that you showed so that I can easily pull out the pins. Your apron turned out great.

      I wish I had a £1 for very time I've done it 😉 Glad you like the apron, hope you get around to it soon, it's a useful thing to have & great as a gift too.

    Great tutorial Sam. The only addition I would have is a loop somewhere (?) to hook it up. Like how it is completely wrap around. I don’t wear an apron ( a pinnie was what we used to call it - short for pinafore I think) but I think I’ll give it a go. I’ve downloaded the pattern now and will need to hunt out some fabric 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Yes I like the wrap around too & a hook or loop would be a great addition - we called them pinnies too but I thought apron might be more 'internationally' recognised 😀 So glad that I've inspired you to make one. If you're on instagram tag me when you've made it, there's no way to do it here on YT.

    Thank you for sharing and your great tips. I just downloaded the pattern. I have yardages of denim fabrics in different colors and prints. I have to double check to make sure it is not too thick of a fabric for a apron. I don't think any of it is lightweight as I purchased the denim to make market bags. BJ

    Has anyone made this apron using 44/45” fabric and pieced it? I saw really cute fabric yesterday but am pretty sure it is this popular width here in the US. Must look again. You would almost certainly need to buy more fabric! Thank you.

    • @Frugalisama
      @Frugalisama  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I haven’t made it with the narrower width. That sounds like the width of quilting cotton to me & perhaps if you’re really set on the pattern rather than cutting on the fold you can put a seam down the front, (you’d just need to add a seam allowance). Alternatively look for dressmaking or furnishing fabric which is generally wider & I’m fairly sure widely available in the US - good luck 🤗

    Loved the video.. question.. I plus size .. how can i make it to fit me.?

    • @Frugalisama
      @Frugalisama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Susan, depending on how much more room that you feel that you need you could just place the apron away from the centre fold a little bit, so if you feel you need an extra 2 inches in the bust place it an inch away from the fold & the same for the facing piece. Consider cutting out the pattern pieces & making a toile/practice piece from an old sheet or something to give you an idea of much bigger you need it & see if you need extra length in the straps

    By the time I finished my school Apron it didn’t fit ! I’d out grown it we had to embroider our initial and mine never met the exacting standards of the sewing teacher x
