i appreciate that you shared your doubts at the end of the video... i wanted to say that literally everyone doubts some of their life choices time to time but we can always choose to be content and happy with whatever stage in life we are at the moment. i know that there are many reasons to why you moved to this place and i genuinely love that you get to create so much new content, in addition to having it as a boost to your career with new partnerships. also, being in such a peaceful place can help you make plans for the future out of a place of comfort and calmness instead of hustle and chaotic energy. in the end, if the two of you move back to the city life, your audience will be here for you no matter what. but i absolutely love and appreciate you sharing this stage of your life with all the house updates!
Ohh I really love reading comments like this online - supporting and appreciating other people.. I am not a creator myself but reading your comment brings so much positivity into this online world where hate and negativity have become a norm.. surely Eric would love this one, too, once he gets to read this ♡♡♡
Buy yourselfe some design books with 60's theme. And PLEASE don't put ugly plastic on your ile! Sand it down ond oil it with peanut oil. Thank me later. Have a nice weekend!
Ahh, it's so difficult to not get hung up on what you should be doing at a certain age! I think the important thing is to do whatever feels right to you anyway, in spite of any doubt!
It's okay to not live the same lifestyle as friends. Your lifestyle is for you to determine and live. I don't have any friends who enjoy nature like I do or trail walks so I go on trail walks alone. It's still enjoyable because it's something that I enjoy doing.
Don't fret about the pace of your friends' lives compared to your own. Your heart knows what it wants! The odd city weekend with crowds and chaos and commercialism for contrast is an easy option. Re: the wood island. Wood is the most sanitary cutting surface - enzymes in the wood kill bacteria for many, many years of use. If you gave the island top a sand then finished it with Howard's cutting block cleaner and oil, it could be used for food prep. Or you could match one of their restoration oils to the wood colour and seal it. They bring the surface back so quickly and I have used them on tables, shelves, cupboard fronts and other furniture with great success. My only other unasked for advice is to group your plants and other decorative items closer together in small "families" and to think a little more about variations in texture and height. It's all a bit flat and patchy. But again, listen to YOUR heart, not my criticism from the couch x
Your future self will thank you in 30 years for this path you two have chosen. Busy city life brings stress and is the kind of stress you don't feel till your later years. Don't quit the funny things, don't say "no" to friends or future memories with them, only keep this place and pace of living because is the place where you will recharge every time. Is a certain joy in living in a quiet place, going out in the city and coming back - a new sort of appreciation, i guess. And is better than a continuous "fun" state where we will hit a point of no satisfaction. Is not giving up to the "perfect" life but finding a balance in everything. Is an amazing place to live, to experience, enjoy it both of you!
I been looking forward to these new changes, I’m currently in the process myself of changing up my apartment as I felt like my living space has been so bland lol, your videos have definitely inspired me to try and make a change!!!
Regarding the butcher's block... maybe you could just sand it down and put some stain or oil finish over it. it will remove most of the cracks and stains of the top layers of wood, where bacteria accumulates. Plus it's super easy and you get to keep the wood surface if you like :)
I found your channel watching hoodie reviews and stayed for the vlogs. Really enjoying your videos and production quality--well done, stylish and entertaining. Well done!
A few months ago I'm skimming recommended and see "homebody diaries" pop up in big block letters. I'm like damn I could fill my own diary about being a homebody why do I need another? But here I am looking forward to each new upload. Super looking forward to the continued updates on the new place. It's coming along so nicely.
Are all your plants in the kitchen real? I have a similar but smaller kitchen with shelfing to put stuff on top. Currently I only have 4 plants up there, but your video definitely makes me want to get more.
Looking to move to San Francisco in the next couple of months and recently came across this channel. Trying to get an idea of what area this is outside of the main city limits/other areas like it. I've lived in main hubs since college but getting close to my 30's and not really a city guy anymore. Would love some recommendations if anyone has any. Thank you!
The plants all look great how you're incorporating them in your surroundings! Just make sure that they're cat friendly, because some plants are toxic to cats and dogs. And, in the book "The Secret Life of Plants" by Peter Tompkins, tells us that plants really do have ESP.🤫. Don't tell anyone.
Loved this video Eric, and your channel ofc. Those doubts are valid but your life only needs to make sense to you (and it does to me too, so we’re already three, plus your cats). Love your content, and you really do show your kind soul. Enjoy your new place with your girlfriend and loved ones, sending y’all the best vibes.
I don't know if you're going to read this, but there are a few portable bulbs with USB chargers available on Amazon (and probably in other stores) that can be really helpful for the dining room area where you said you couldn't put a lamp because there are no outlets nearby. These portable charger bulbs have the standard screw base (E26/E27), so you can use any lamp you want in the corner of the dining room! I hope this helps you! thanks for your content, it inspires me a lot, i love ur content!
2:36 Imagine having some of the pothos vines 'crawling' 🌿across one of those kitchen ceiling beams, (with the help of clear sticky hooks). The plant loving part of my brain would scream (in delight) 👀👀😭✨️
Hi Eric! I'm really enjoying your homebody vlogs. Love the changes in the kitchen too. When you're ready for a more energetic lifestyle, you'll have no problem adjusting. Have fun & remember, it's okay to change your mind & do something different. 🐈 🥳👍
Re: your doubts of living a slower life - I think of this often for myself as well! I'm currently living the major city lifestyle, but I actually think I'd fair better with a similar lifestyle to you, in a quieter, nature-filled area. :) Keep being authentic to what feels good to you! We live in a time when people so often don't do this.
Really love your indoor styling a lot! I wish I had the same eye for interior styling. Can you share where you got the cupboard which is now next to your kitchen?
Life in 2024 means going online to watch a random dude doing all the things I either avoid doing or paid someone to do. We’re at our lowest low. Nice kitchen though, keep it clean
I used to think that too, that I should be doing more of what people my age were doing, partying and going out and always doing things.. and I had to really ask myself, when I lived in the trendy cool areas did I do that, or did I stay at home with my cat focusing on my surroundings and myself. And then someone told me that comparison is the thief of happiness. And that shit really resonated, so I stopped second guessing myself and comparing myself to my friends and peers, and try to live my life for what makes me happy and content.
Only display your pothos if they look super full. Yours are looking too scraggy so it kinda pulls down the vibe of the area. I suggest potting them up together and even propagte to make them fuller on top and look into getting other plant species to elevate your space. There are plenty of trailing plants that are as easy or even easier to take care than the basic pothos. ---different type of rhipsalis, zigzag cactus, heart leaf philodendron, scindapsus. These are not rare plants, these are easy maintenance but brings a lot more character to a space. :)
The round cover plate on the beam above the dining area should be a junction box for a ceiling light. You should be able to install a pendant light using that junction box.
So so so happy I found your channel. I wrestle w/ that "should be doing" stuff a lot and ended up starting a career I couldn't stand bc of it. Quite happy I let go of it, and also happy that you are as well 💙
Just found this channel: love the kitchen❣️ FYI: the white circle in the ceiling above your table is where someone previously had a pendant lamp. I’ll bet it’s still wired & all you’re gonna need is to attach your pendant. A switch that doesn’t seem to do anything in that area would be your confirmation. My point is a pendant lamp will cost MUCH less, since the wiring is most likely already there😃👍

thank you so much for this comment :) i really really appreciate it
your videos really help me wind down & let go of my day,, just came home from work & will sleep soon, this is just perfect
so happy to hear that :)
😊😊
You get a lot of inspiration from daniel simmons? The video editing style is similar lol
Butchers blocks are really easy to repair! If you like the wood you don’t have to wrap it, just sand it down and refinish with food safe mineral oil!
Was gonna say the same that’d be a fun video!
Yessss!! Please do not cover it with laminate 😐
Love this thank you! I will def look into it :)
was gonna say this but glad i found someone else already said it better
Yep, sand and mineral oil it! Like new.
Buy yourselfe some design books with 60's theme. And PLEASE don't put ugly plastic on your ile! Sand it down ond oil it with peanut oil. Thank me later. Have a nice weekend!
Love how the kitchen comes along! Nice to have skylights for lighting and the plants!

You should get another squiggly shaped rug for the dining area, just without holes. The shape made the area look so interesting!
Agreed, A squiggly or at least round rug will look better than a standard square rug.
I don't think it needs a rug at all! I like how it looks without one.
I been looking forward to these new changes, I’m currently in the process myself of changing up my apartment as I felt like my living space has been so bland lol, your videos have definitely inspired me to try and make a change!!!
gonna live in a house like this one in my future
I really enjoy the vibe of your videos. Always make my day when you upload a new one :) love from germany
Why don’t you just sand the butcher block and oil it, don’t cover it. It will look nice with some care I promise!

Who doesn't love going through all the staged rooms at IKEA, it's like a grown up playground 😅
You can refinish the butcher block and re oil it so it’s nice.
I look forward to your videos every week, greetings from Mexico :)

where is the rug at 6:19 from?
Ooh. Both those shelving units in the dining area. I’d love to know what those are if anyone knows. Both the before and after.
Are all your plants in the kitchen real?
I have a similar but smaller kitchen with shelfing to put stuff on top.

Sand back the island and oil it;)

Where is the new shelf/cabinet from for the coffee bar? Looks great!
all the sockets in the kitchen are a dream, i have 4 in mine and i always have to change the plugs to use my things... annoying
Just asking, don’t be mad, is the grey sweatshirt work inside out?
Or it is tailored that way 😅😅😅

I am curious what state do you live in? I live in S. Cali.
Just found your channel as I move into my new apartment. Love the style and vibes!
Where did you get that shelf?
Great vidio, but were is that hoodie from, it looks sick
I bet you could have that butcher block sanded and treated!

I'd use the bay window to grow herbs and baby tomatoes or even sprouts or microgreens.💙
Where is the cable management box from? Looks really nice :)
i think i just got them on amazon haha
Take the items out of the white basket in bay window?
I would just sand the butcher block down!

Look into wireless lighting. Maybe light sconces or as you said pendant lighting. Sorry, I get caught up in your enthusiasm

great video, I like your use of plants in your kitchen, that really warmed up the space and made it cozy.

What is the hat you are wearing at 2:22?
you looks like hwang hee chan tho
What brand is the dining table ?

Completely off topic but.. your cat.. is called cat?
