    I would like to see a trail bike of the year shootout between, let's say the past 5 years of winners to see how well the older winners fair against the newer

    This is by far the best overview series for trail bikes, and I'm always excited to see what nifty and gnarly bits of info y'all add in! And speaking of Whyte, I was wondering if you gents could do a comparison of the Whyte G-160 Works and the YT Capra CF Pro!? I've been planning a trip in the States, shredding the craziest and most fun lines in each of the 50 states, and I'm not sure which Enduro bike to try to bring along for the long-travel option! Thank again for all the videos, informational and just plain good fun!!

    i agree with not looking at suspension travel like we used to.. i own the new orbea occam tr m30.. the am version has 140 mil travel.. the tr only 120mil.. i love this thing.. it behaves like a 140mil. due to the frame and the tech in it..

      +Samuel Waterman The T-130 had a revamp, and Whyte decided to submit it for the test this year - we left which model they submitted open for them to choose this year.

    +bikeradar I can see why the t-130 won, no surprise. However how do you think it compares to the Mondraker foxy?
    Comparing the same size a 5'10 rider would ride (Large Whyte and Medium Mondraker) the Whyte has a slightly shorter reach, almost same top tube but runs a longer stem, 50mm vs 30mm. I can see this will give much more wheel grip which some people have trouble with on mondrakers the first time. However did you find the overall cockpit (toptube + 50mm stem) a little on the limits of stretch? Which bike would you say does better on flatter twisty XC type trails and climbing?

    HELL for the top end of the price range given you can get a 2016 YETI SB5 Enduro! full carbon, Switch infinity, 2016 fox performance (custom performance Evol rear shock at that!) 150front 127rear, I think the Whyte T-130 needs a 150mm fork if you ask me.

    • @skullmanUK
      @skullmanUK 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Put a 150mm fork on it you might as well go for the G160. For a 130mm bike its so capable, I think going 140/150mm nobody would buy the 160mm bike!

  • @chris27gea58
    @chris27gea58 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is precisely one thing that is notable about this bike - the low leverage ratio design. I find it hard to believe that the low LR configuration alone qualifies this bike to claim a 'best bike' status. Arguably the geometry of the T-129 is significantly better and it too has the low LR design and the same 216mm x 63mm shock absorber. I get the terrible feeling that you have made a best shock absorber rather than best bike award.

      Yes, but the shapeshifter feature doesn't apparently have a point as the headtube angle is 69 degrees.

  • @hambo76
    @hambo76 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would be great if you could filter these by availability in the countries you serve (UK, US and Australia).
    For example the Whyte wouldn't be the winner for your Australian audience because it's not available here.

  • @deifor
    @deifor 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi first off I apologize for my ignorance but why are mountain bikes shown without the part of the pedal you put your foot on?

    • @brianmasters8348
      @brianmasters8348 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Laifer Reyes That is how they come from the factory, with no pedals. Most riders have a specific pedal they like- flat or clip-in. Clip in pedals lock to the riders shoes, and in most cases a rider with have a pair of shoes and a matching pair of pedals that they will install onto whatever bike they are riding.

      +James Frog im saving up for the al version, how do you like how yours rides? have you ridden it at a DH park? Also, is it nimble / feel quick, or is it more oriented with powering through the tough stuff rather than maneuvering around it do you think?

    • @jamesfrog9279
      @jamesfrog9279 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jordan Keeler for a pretty big bike it feels light and nimble. You can throw it around and it just feel pinned down. I take it in wharncliffe woods (Steve Peats area) and it soaks up the rough like a DH bike. It's nimble and tough at the same time but carries speed. I love it.

    • @jordankeeler7297

      hey, i forgot to ask, usually im a shimano guy. im not a huge fan of sram brakes especially, and the capra al comes fully equipped in sram. how are your sram breaks and such treating you?

    • @jamesfrog9279
      @jamesfrog9279 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jordan Keeler first time for me with the brakes. I have the guide ultimate and they are amazing. Had XT ones on my Bronson and those were good but I prefer the Guides. As for the Drive Train I have the X01 and it's really good. Not as silky smooth as the Shimano, but firm and crisp. I have no problems with the SRAM stuff. You won't be disappointed. The bikes a amazing.

  • @xtianeskay5166
    @xtianeskay5166 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most oft your test bikes are made by companies I have never heard of. OK, I am no mountainbike freak. Though..Could you maybe publish your test methods and all tested bikes? It makes it more understandable and trustworthy.

    • @jonny5415
      @jonny5415 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the test is published in a magazine. so i guess they wouldn't upload all of it

    • @SmevMev
      @SmevMev 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Xtian Eskay It's always good to know the methods behind the testing and there'll be more info in the magazine, but when it comes to the brands on test, Whyte, Specialized, Trek, Devinci, Mondraker and Commencal are all well-established, well-known brands in the mtb world with good reputations. Trek and Specialized are two of the biggest and most successful bike brands on the planet.

    • @xtianeskay5166
      @xtianeskay5166 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SmevMev I know Trek and Specialized as they also produce roadbikes. I was wondering about the other brands as I have never seen any of these bike brands around! And then they are tested so good! I don't even know if you could purchase them in Germany.

  • @Sefveron
    @Sefveron 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    It really annoys me how most of the awesome bikes in the test aren't available in Australia... sure you can get them but you have to be in a city thats not where i am, specially order them through a person who wont answer their emails, and pay and exorbitant mark up which makes it disgustingly not worth it... so not easily available... which means you end up paying silly money for a bigger brand like specialized or trek or just end up buying a Giant trance like EVERYBODY else.

    • @IntellectCentre-s1e
      @IntellectCentre-s1e 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sefveron mate if you're after a cheap full suspension go for the calibre bossnut, its on of the few 5 star bikes on bikeradar and only costs $2100 around, I'm slowly saving up for it since its the best available for your money.
