I still have a 2011 901 hardtail and bought it back to Australia when I moved back and although it is a 26 it still holds its own on the pea gravel trails here - good bike!
In a nutshell, stability. Which, of course, is the opposite of agility, but as average riding speeds increase, bikes have evolved to become more stable at these higher speeds.
MBR magazine ...and with increase of wheel size I guess it will make it significantly harder to chuck round them berms and whip around! I ride a Lapierre medium zesty and find the frame to small, am looking at a large T130 RS tonight..I'm only 5'10 but long legged, just hoping it isn't too large!!
I'm currently riding the 605, an all good round bike for the price. I had the 603 last year which I believe is the cheapest in the range. Again, a good solid bike. I have been impressed with the Whyte range so far and I am only riding the low end ones. My next one hopefully will be the 905.
Avigazed No I can't say I have rode one. There are some good reviews on youtube on mountain bikes for under £1000. So check around before buying. Good luck!

looks awesome!
so what is the benefit of a longer bike? I always thought a smaller frame was better to chuck around....

You do adapt as a rider, and given a few months on one of the new breed of bikes, you'll probably get on your Lapierre and think it feels tiny!
I've got a first gen' G-150.
Awesome bike.
Got a 2016 T130S Yari, its awesome.
Is there a review of any of the 'lower' end bikes? Like the 605, 801, 529. interested to know how the 529 handles.
