    Update: the original music was removed by TH-cam due to copyright issues and they put their own music in there. The clips not as long as the video and they won’t let me change or edit it.

    We had some fellas check the fuel pump a while back and they said the fuel pump was bad. I bought one, watched your video (which was great man) only to find that they over-torqued the freaking nuts. It was one hell of a time getting them out. Three of the nuts broke. It really ticked me off but it all turned out well. Thanks man.

    excellent video!!! I have a sentra 04 federal (not california). NISSAN DEALER SERVICE recommend to replace fuel pump kit to repair long crank after vehicle is WARMED UP they said it's very common this problem on sentras. They wanted $675 to do the job (included fuel pump and o ring)!!! went to another one, wanted $533.34 for the same job!! I bought original fuel pump and o ring online price from NISSAN dealer for $386.45 and did the job myself. Thank you for saving me money!!!

      +Steven S The recommendation from the Nissan Dealer Service was to replace the fuel pump kit. I looked into the Nissan bulletin TSB at that moment and it was a problem about the regulator built in, that could be resolved with a kit -only to replace some parts- but the kit price was very close for a new fuel pump (genuine nissan parts) -plus the labor or the difficulty to rebuild it-, that's why the decision to replace the fuel pump completely. I followed the video and it worked, I didn't bleed the whole system just crank the engine with the fuse out to liberate pressure on the fuel line as shown on the video. I installed the new fuel pump on 03/30/14 with 90k, today, 09/16/2015 has about 108k and didn't have the problem again. My car is a Nissan sentra 04 1.8S and the engine is QG18DE. The problem before I replace the fuel pump was only when the car was warmed up and turn it off and rest for about 20 to 40 min, if I let rest more than that I didn't have a problem, and if I let rest 10 minutes either. Never had the problem when the car was sitting overnight.

    I just found that my SE-R had no fuel pressure after the regulator in the fuel pump housing failed. Same exact symptoms, just ordered the fuel pump repair kit and waiting for it to be delivered. Sentra's are great cars, mine has been reliable since I bought it, but I'm hoping that this does the trick. It's made me a little wary in considering to install a fuel pressure gauge to actively monitor the fuel pressure just in case the problem reoccurs. Great video.

    nice, easy follow video. make sure you unhook battery beforehand. I just got a diagnostic to see if it was the fuel pump after checking my check engine light. the diagnostic ended up costing me $112. I told the service tech about the rough start and strong fuel odor. he said the diag came up clean and showed me a pic of gas leaking from the top of my tank. he wanted another $130 just to drop the tank and asked if he could go through the back seat as I have researched. he said no, he needed to drop the tank. I get a call an hour later and he says it's the pump which I asked him a number of times about and says he did not have to drop the tank. he then tried to tell me the part cost $450. there was an o'reilly's auto parts store in the same lot. when I returned to shop after lunch, he told me it would be $350 after I told him I would take care of it later, because I was planning on taking care of it myself anyway. all together with diag he quoted $600-700. now on amazon, I could get it for about $100, for oem $250 at most. not to mention, this place was recommended by o'reilley's after asking about it. the clerk said fair price. this is why I love the internet. people are out to take you to the cleaners. so do your research and avoid these places.

    Once again, thanks dddaan... was 2 months ago that you answered me but it turns out the car then blew a head gasket shortly after I replaced the fuel pump and the ignition coils.Thats what happens when people don't change their oil regularly and drive the shit out of it. So its been sent to a junk yard since then, lol.

    • @dddaan2
      @dddaan2  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If after install ur gauge is reading incorrectly, (like it’s saying max full or max empty) then it’s most likely from installation error. That float on the pump is what controls ur gauge, so if the black float is stuck up in the gas tank it’ll read full even if it’s not. So take it back out and reinstall it. The arm to the float is sensitive as well, so try not to bend/force it.

    Actually that's the sending unit where the pump is located inside of that unit. I guess this person just opted to replace the entire unit. Usually you just remove the pump from the unit, put the new pump inside the unit and place the unit back into the car. Still it's pretty simple, but take it to a shop and they're take you to the cleaners on this one.

    A friend suggested that along with running the engine dry as you suggested, a clothes pin on the hose (not too tight), would help minimize mess. Also, I don't know if it would fit, but on other liquid-filled hoses a golf tee stuck into it often works (brake lines). Otherwise, great video, this is exactly the problem I'm having. Were you getting any engine codes? I'm getting EVAP and multi-cylinder mis-fire codes on top of the hard starting.

    Hey thanks alot for this video man, extremely helpful... but I got a quick question if you even check the comments on this anymore... lol... when you take the fuse out and try to start it like that does that depressurize the lines? Cause I'd really hate to have to disconnect the fuel lines from the throttlebody to do that.

    Your fuel pump is soo easy to remove. I have a 1988 nissan sentra E whose fuel pump is under the backseat. the only difference is i have to remove the ENTIRE backseat to access it... the fuel lines are held on with metal clamps, and the inspection hole is not lined up with the fuel pump... some of the screws are off to the side under the metal. terrible time.

    I like how you humbly broke off the 6 mm. bolt. I know you did this on purpose. I can tell you've done too many of these fuel pumps by your professional procedures. Were you ever able to get the broken stud out ? Or does it still seal with (1) bolt missing ? If you get this message, I have (1) question. What is the difference between the Nissan update kit, and just replacing the fuel pump ? I understand that something in the Nissan update kit modifies the fuel pressure regulator.

    I am guessing the fuel pump is the problem on my Sentra (254,000 miles), hard start, car surges as though it isn't getting gas, fuel gauge drops out, check engine light stays on, when run on diagnostic it gave an error for the fuel pump..

    How long did it take to perform the entire repair? I have the '04 Sentra 1.8S and need to replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator ($45.00) located inside that Fuel Pump Kit. I just replaced the Crank Position Sensor ($33.00) recently with slight improvement but the poor start-up problem still persists. Nissan Recall Notice recommended changing both the Crank Position Sensor and Fuel Pressure Regulator.

    I had my 03 Sentra engine light checked and it came back "bad fuel level sensor circuit" or something like that. What does that mean? The car reads the gas level okay. Sometimes I have to crank a couple times to start the car, acceleration is weak (worse some days), and bad gas mileage. (22-25 MPG overall, I drive city/highway 50 percent of the time, shouldn't be that bad).

  • @kevinkiehn3645

    You cannot really expect an answer based on the amount of fuel you placed into your resevoir and the time elapsed from filling said tank to empty. You need specifics. Give us total mileage that you got from the tank, driving conditions, etc.

      After the battery is connected both positive and negative. 1) Make sure the fuse isn’t blown. 2) make sure the new fuel pump is plugged in, both the electrical plug and fuel line. - when u turn the key to Key on Engine Off, u should hear a very faint noise from the fuel pump(it’s priming). Is it just cranking over and over without starting? Are u confident ur new pump isn’t a piece of junk?

    • @martigustamante1230
      @martigustamante1230 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dddaan2 the pump is really good. I heard a high pitch sound. Maybe I didn’t let it prime enough. I will check the fuse tomorrow morning. By the way all the lights come on my dashboard. It does not turn at all. The high pitch sounds comes from the back seat.

    • @dddaan2

      @@martigustamante1230 ok it sounds like the pump is getting power which is good. So that fuse is prob good. Usually priming it 3x in a row after replacing it, it should start up. (Key on engine off 3x in a row with trying to start it). When u say it doesn’t turn, does it crank at least? Or are u saying it’s just not turning over to start

    • @martigustamante1230
