- RIP to the GOAT. Here's an episode of The Hollywood Squares from 1975 that is one of the many examples of why Peter Marshall was called "The Master" of The Hollywood Squares. He knew how to take a blooper or mistake and help make it great television but owning up to it.
Tonight's stars: Bernadette Peters, Tony Randall, Charo, Jonathan Winters, Anthony Newley, John Byner, Karen Valentine, Marty Allen, and Paul Lynde. In this episode, Peter misreads a question he gives to Paul Lynde ("Seattle Jew"?) leading to everyone in the squares as well as in the audience laughing uproariously. Peter quickly calls out for "Harry", one of the writers of the show at the time, so that he can double down on the joke. Who's "Harry"? You probably known him best as Harry Friedman. Wonder how that fella is doing for himself? :)
RIP to an all-time great. One of my favorite moments in game show history is still when Peter returned for Game Show Host week of the Tom Bergeron version of Hollywood Squares and they decided "hey, why not have Peter host an episode?", and the dude just doesn't skip a single beat. He could've been offered to host and start taping episodes the day after and been able to pull it off without any problems. So thankful we got as many interviews and moments out of him as we could in these past few years. Rest easy, Peter. - บันเทิง
RIP to NBC Legend Peter Marshall. Hope he'll be hosting the Heaven Squares and is reunited with Paul Lynde again.
NBC should air a tribute to him! I hope that Nate Burleson pays a tribute to Peter Marshall on the Season Premiere of Hollywood Squares in 2025
@@chaupin5 CBS owns the series now, so they'll probably mention Peter when the new version premieres. NBC should air a tribute to him, but they have to pay either MGM and/or CBS for the footage.
@@NerdNest83That would be absolutely fitting! Yes,NBC should do a tribute. If all the videotapes were saved,it would be a great idea to put all episodes on newer videotapes,a few weeks at a time.
Led a very long life😢
Seattle Jew!😂😂😂😂😂I'm Jewish, and I took no offense. Loved that one!
Bob Eubanks was right about the late Peter Marshall wearing tennis shorts from that hilarious blooper on the nighttime Hollywood Squares!!
The Heaven Squares! I'm sure Peter Marshall and Paul Lynde are reunited, and laughing up a Storm!
In Memoriam to the Original Host (Master)

You're be Very Missed
THE master. Thanks to guys like Peter, Alex , Jim Perry, TK , Chuck Woolery, Art James, etc. NBC was my 1st choice in daytime
RIP Peter Marshal
Rest in Peace, Peter... okay, a few giggles is accepted!
Always a straight answer from Tony Randall.
Hollywood squares Peter Marshall and Paul Lynde he was so funny on that show I miss Hollywood squares that was a funny I love that show
One of the last of the greats. Godspeed.
R.I.P. PETER 😢
Marty Allen had fabulous hair
You call that fabulous? 😃 He was great. I was a fan.
Before I learned it was Telly Savalas' brother George (Demosthenes), I thought it was Marty Allen who was on KOJAK? He was compelling in a rare dramatic role in the BIG VALLEY episode called THE JONAH.
RIP Peter Marshall.
Very funny blooper. Charo was hot, hot, hot
6:03 Peter would wear shorts on the nighttime edition.
$1000 in 1975 is worth $ 5900 in 2024
@6:01, so Harry Friedmann started his game show work on the Peter Maashall Hollywood Squares, I thought it was the John Davidson version
My youth 📺👀 I’m now 61 ✨
My youth too & I,m 52!! I,ll be 53 years old April 12th!! From Baltimore MD!!
However they're have been a few times on The Hollywood Squares nighttime where Peter Marshall had stood up & HE DID WEAR PANTS--NOT SHORTS!!
AH! Not the Seattle Jew incident? RIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...with a cameo from the future game show legend and Peabody Award winning Harry Friedman. BONUS!
He was my favorite host of this show (John Davidson is distant 2nd and Whoopi a distant 3rd)).
Um...you mean Tom Bergeron? Whoopi was the center square for most of his run on the show, and while she did host one time, it was only for one or two rounds.
❤🎉🌅👑👍
Is this from 1977?
didn't realize that Samsonite made furniture.
I thought they only did suitcases and briefcases...
I guess if someone was sitting in your chair, you could have said
"Hey get off my case man!"
Ba dum tss.
Paul Lynde, being a big anti-semite, really loved that blooper.
A MAGAT would say that the game was "rigged" in favor of Gwen.
