    Pro tip: if you click the note name in the left panel of the Melodyne editor beneath the treble clef, it will select all instances of that note making it easier to quickly reposition them all.

    WoodenToaster has been using Melodyne to do this effect in their music since ~2012. I'm so glad it's becoming more common.

    Totally different sound than a vocoder. Even though this sounds processed, it still feels human. Total MTV vibe of old happening with the huge chorus there

    Great video, but what do I do if my voice naturally sounds like that? Maybe I need a devocoder?

    You had real fun on this one. Lol. I enjoyed too. When you start going down harmony land rabbit hole. 😁

    I'll probably never use this tip but I love watching them for the technical pointers and I love that you're doing these. Sounds really good - modern and unique. Can do so much with Melodyne

    Great video. Couple of I things I thought, I should write ( please don't mind, just thought of sharing these and I have or had no intensions to show any particular behavioral pattern towards anyone ✌)
    1. It is technically a mixture of Chordal and Diatonic vocal harmonization and it sounds really close to Vocoder. This is a cool effect in itself though.
    2. For heavy pitch shifting (for Vocals, anything more than 2 semitones in any directions), 'compensating formant shifting' would make a more believable harmonization if we are going for Natural 'Diatonic vocal harmonization' (like doubling up the vocal at diatonic 4th or 5th or 6th or 3rd or Octave up or down).
    3. For 'diatonic vocal harmonization', in Melodyne, there is a Scale Snap feature which will make the whole process even faster.
    4. Chordal Vocal Harmonization sounds pretty similar to Vocoder (if the chords used in both cases are same).

    Why didn’t you set scale snap on? Then as you pushed them up they would stay in key, still have to move a few but helps make it simpler

    Cool I use to use that effect to hide my crappy vocals. Ha and you can sing. I'm not sure if that's ironic. 😀 Ps tal used to do a free vocoda if thats of any interest. A bit hands on as goes into a bus you route your vocal track to paned one way and a synth or any other sound panned the other. Needs a bit of help can be harsh. Cheers

    I usually get that phasing sound when I Just duplicate my vocal in my studio one, I don't why it happens like that, what could be problem

  • @kbgws
    @kbgws 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My Melodine essential will not allow spitting notes. No right click tool window either. It seems very limited compared to what I am seeing from you guys on Presonus. Check for the update it says it's the latest.

    • @TheStevejohnston
      @TheStevejohnston 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't think mine could split notes either. But after watching this video I did a search and found this which works "When you hover your mouse over the Top zone of a note, the Main tool temporarily becomes the Note Separation tool. You can double-click in this area to split a note into two separate notes, allowing you to change the melody by adding and adjusting new notes"

    • @kbgws
      @kbgws 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheStevejohnston Thanks, I'll try that. But Melodyne is pretty persnickety about the mouse pointer.
