This is a really excellent recital by Walter Hillsman, a superb organist who died in 2022. (There's another BBC broadcast he did of Durufle that I had recorded myself though the tape deteriorated.) Thanks as ever for this.
My teacher in fact! He recorded the Duruflé at Coventry Cathedral on two Vista label recordings at about the same time. I have the discs. The Peterborough organ was suffering in 1977 with lots of air leaks. After its restoration it was opened by Nicolas Kynaston. I was present.
@@AdrianGunning I assisted at both the Coventry recordings you mention, as page-turner/registrant. I too have the discs, which were given to me by WH and Michael Smythe. I was an organ student at Birmingham Conservatoire at the time, studying with George Miles.
