Yes landings are much more involved in Hang Gliding. Hang gliders stall at a higher speed than Paragliders. So we can’t float down like you can. We have to come in fast to stay in control of the wing all the way to the ground, and then force a stall when the wing is at trim. If you instead slow down gradually and let a stall happen naturally, you risk a hard landing or a crash because you lose control. It’s a fun skill to master :)
So you decided to do it my way... Over the sea. It's always a bit freeky knowing that too low and you drown but yes better to be out of the lift for your approach.

Absolutely! I finally built up the courage to try your approach, and it’s fantastic! So much more control due to the speed!
punch the flare harder - you're a bit soft in your flares.
Do you mean I should be pushing out with more force and consequently snapping out a quick flare? Rather than a slow flare?
