    Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. I was just reading the reviews on Amazon and some people said it leaked but the positive reviews said that negative reviewers probably didn't put the gasket on properly. This video proved the positive reviews correct so thank you!

    Thanks so much . I had put it on before quite a few times but then didnt use it and couldnt get it on. It worked after following your directions to get everything very dry and the gasket tight. I think my gasket has stretched over time so I am goint to look into ordering a new gasket.

      Thanks for watching! As for buying a new gasket, good luck finding one. Oster has stopped selling individual parts for a lot of their products including blenders. However, I have another video showing how to DIY a new gasket from a silicone baking mat. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/SLZ67bOeaNQ/w-d-xo.html

    I had this type blender for 2 years before I realized:
    1- It's MUCH easier to open and close the blade cap with the jar ON the blender base using the jar handle for leverage. It seems designed to do that. The cap's lever is automatically pushed in when it sits in the blender base. With the handle on the right side, you push it to loosen and pull it to tighten.
    2- When you tighten the blade cap, simply align the 4 long vertical raised lines in the glass jar with the 4 notches in the blender and jar base cap. That is the perfect tightness! That also centers the jar measurements and puts the handle 90 degrees off the side!
    Very frustrating that this is not in the manuals!!!

    Thank you a lot for all the videos. I just bought mine yesterday. Up to now I used either a small personal blender or the Cuisinart attachment for the stand mixer for harder projects. This Cuisinart is a quite good glass blender. Still I wanted an independent one but I didn't want to spend too much on it. So I am new to my Oster, and I love it..

    Thanks again for making these informative videos, now sharing with my family who will have access to this blender...so much easier to watch than to read this sort of thing. Shared the base removal (endcap) video too, so much plastic on this blender have to be careful!

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! The owner's manual that comes with the blender does not fully describe how to remove the cap to access the blade assembly so I decided to do a video. The piece you really want to be careful with is the plastic lever that releases the jar from the end cap. Other than that, it 's pretty durable overall. :) Thanks for watching!

    Great video! But it doesn't show how to deal with a leak going through the blades and down the center part with the metal gear teeth on the bottom of the jar. I have an "Osterizer Classic" with a toggle switch that has on/off/pulse only. The blender works, but the jar leaks as described above. How does one fix that?

    Which Exact parts are dishwasher safe? their website says “all parts are dishwasher safe besides the blender base”
    so does this mean the blade attachment can be put in the dishwasher or no?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't put any blender parts in the dishwasher myself, only wash them by hand. With that being said, the user manual that came with the blender should give some guidance as to which parts are dishwasher safe. I wouldn't put the gaskets in as they may warp and cause leaks.

    Question - I am real dumb and poured ingredients into my new Oster 1200 without checking to see if it was aseembled properly, causing liquids to leak through the machine. Do you think if I let it dry out for a day it will be fine to run? This isn't dangerous? Apologize for the stupidity of this action/inquiry. :D

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can just disassemble the jar & blade pieces, clean them then let them all dry out before reassembling them. They should be good to go overnight.

    Any maintenance involved with the star gear female part or the male end on the base? I put my blades in the dish washer and the gear looks a little brown or rusted, not sure if its oil or what.

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had those brown spots on occasion when I placed the jar on the base while wet. I just wiped them off with a paper towel sprayed with WD40 and they came right off. It the brown is on the inside of the gear connection, spray a Q-Tip with WD40 and clean it out. I've never put any blender parts in my dishwasher. I think the detergent is too harsh for some of the parts...IMO. Hope some of this helps. :)

    • @helpfulnatural

      Unfortunately, no. :( The wide mouth jars do not fit onto the blender cap and the Oster company does not recommend it as it's not safe. I think the more powerful the motor, the less safe it is to use a Mason jar.

    Does your blade assembly have some small plastic washers or spacers in between the blades and the "stem"?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, there is no plastic parts on the blade assembly or in the jar touching your food. The only plastic this blender has is the black cap that holds the blade assembly in place and the lid. Thanks for watching!

    • @sashas3362
      @sashas3362 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      helpfulnatural Really? Hmmm. The reason I ask is because I bought one the other day and it has two small black plastic spacers or bearings or whatever you call them in between the blades and the stem of the metal base or whatever it is they are attached to. Maybe mine is different? It says all metal duralast drive or blades on the box but it's not an all metal blade assembly. I'm wondering if I need to look for a different unit. I noticed that the box is slightly different so may be older or newer. I'm not sure which.
      By the way, just wondering whether this blender can yield the same results as a vitamix or blendtec when it comes to making whole fruit juices. Can it liquify seeds to the same consistency? Some retailers advertise this blender as being an 19,000 RPM blender. If true then that should allow it to compete with a Vitamix or Blendtec blender (if you run the Oster a little longer). But I am not sure that RPM spec is accurate. I may use a timing light to measure the RPM just to be sure. Regardless of what the RPM is, just wondering how it compares to the vitamix or blendtec when making whole fruit juice. Thanks.

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm, that must new that they're putting plastic parts in the blade assembly. I just checked mine in the blender and the extra one I bought last year as a backup and neither of them has any plastic discs. I hope this isn't the norm since I bought this blender to get away from any plastic parts in my blender. Where did you buy it? I purchased mine from Target 2 years ago.
      As for the power it has, I used to own a Vitamix and this Pro 1200 can do pretty much everything I blended in that one. It just takes a bit longer for some things. It also doesn't have a tamper to push things down while blending like when making nut butters. It has 1200 power watts with 900 steady blending watts, as quoted by Oster. The motor is clearly not as large or powerful as a Vitamix or Blendtec but it has been able to do everything I've asked of it so far. If you scan over my other videos, I have many demonstrating all the things I've done with this blender; smoothies, nut and seed butters, nut milk, grinding wheat berries into flour, ice cream, juicing, etc.... And it hasn't had any problem pulverizing chia seeds in my smoothies! Hope some of this helps. :)

    • @sashas3362
      @sashas3362 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      helpfulnatural Hmmm. OK. Thanks! Yeah, that helps. I guess I just need to fire it up and see what it can do. It's probably an older version. The store I bought it from doesn't get much business. I'll take a look at one in a busier store and see if it has the plastic parts on the blade assembly or not. Even if that is where their design is going, it certainly has less plastic in it than most blenders. If this is where they are headed, then a complaint to Oster may be needed.

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the blade assembly is the last place I would want plastic since it cracks/shatters so easily. I wonder if it's a model sold exclusively in a particular store. For instance, I also own the Oster Dual Action blender which is the exact same model as the Oster Fusion blender. The only difference is the housing on mine (exclusively sold at Walmart), comes in red or silver and the Fusion is black with larger push buttons. The other conundrum is that Oster ran out of replacement gaskets for the Pro 1200 and have been out of them for over a year. When I heard about this issue I uploaded a video showing how I managed to make some DIY gaskets out of silicone. (Which work very well, BTW). This is the #1 selling blender so I can't figure out why they are taking so long to fix this problem. Someone clearly dropped the ball there!

    My new Oster Pro 1200 should arrive either today, tomorrow, or Saturday, August 12. If it works as well as I expect, it will be a helluva machine because for less than $60 it will combine the benefits of the Nutri Ninja AND a big Oster blender for less than the price of the Nutri Ninja itself. In all fairness to the Nutri Ninja, though, I have had mine for over a year; and it is a fantastic smoothie maker. Also, it is much, much simpler to clean than the Oster because the blade assembly is all one piece; and there is no gasket. As long as the blade assemble is put on straight and tight, there is no leakage. If you ever do get a Nutri Ninja, I would be very curious as to what your impression would be. I use the 1000-watt machine with Auto IQ. BTW, I am a big juicer and drink over a pint of carrot apple juice every day. Have you ever tried juicing?

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, cleaning this blender is very easy. I only take it apart like in this video once or twice a month. Every day after making our smoothies, I just fill the jar halfway with warm water, add a squirt of dish soap and run on high speed for 30 seconds. Rinse and done.
      I used to have an Omega juicer which I liked but hated all the little parts that had to be disassembled and washed. Too putsy for me. :/ I uploaded a couple of videos recently showing how I can juice with this Oster blender. I made a green juice blend and beet juice. I plan to also make a carrot juice video. :)

      I pretty much do the same with my current Oster, that is I run it with soapy water after each use (which is just about daily) then take it apart about once every week or so. I remove the blade assembly after each use of the Nutri Ninja because that is the only way to rinse it out. Just out of curiosity, which Omega juicer did you have? Mine is the 8006 masticating juicer and is a snap to clean. Their centrifugal juicer was a pain in the neck to clean.

    • @helpfulnatural
      @helpfulnatural  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, mine was an Omega centrifugal juicer, (model 02 with 250 watts & 1/3 HP), and yes, it was a pain to clean. I think it has since been discontinued. All those little (and sharp) parts to clean! Ugh!! It got old fast! It was a fairly small machine as there is just my husband and myself. It was a very efficient machine and I liked it a lot but the cleaning was too much to deal with for me. I gave it to my niece who was thrilled to get it. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002OKDTC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the original listing from amazon where I bought it. Pretty much a starter model. :)

    • @avilachs
      @avilachs 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had numerous centrifugal juicers both in the U.S. and in Israel. They are fast and effective; but in addition to being a pain to clean, their fast speed creates a lot more oxidation than the masticating juicers. The average centrifugal juicer spins at about 10,000 RPM. My Omega 8006 spins at about 80 RPM, and Tribest has come out with a vertical juicer that spins at only 47 RPM. I thought about getting one; however, they cost almost $400; and according to some reviews I have seen on TH-cam, the juice yield is slightly less than the Omega. Hence, I will stick with the 8006, which I highly recommend.
