      Most people with the means to buy a fast luxury sedan don’t really care about reliability. If you are buying a used luxury sedan than ok. We all know Lexus makes super reliable vehicles but they can’t touch the European in terms of performance and tech. Money not being a issue I am not looking at any Lexus.

After not finding a 350 with decent mileage and price, I got a 250 as a daily. Paid a lot less since enthusiast want the 350 / F. I know a couple people with the Lexus IS250 second gen. I was wondering, how does automatic shifting feel on these cars? I know with some cars you can’t even feel the gears shifting at all, but sometimes you can just feel a tiny tiny jolt when gears change. In this case that’s normal and if you needed it... drain and fill your transmission fluid but never flush you fluid. That’ll destroy your transmission. Never trust lifetime transmission fluid, it means the lifetime of the transmission not the car itself. Drain and fill, and it will run like butter again if you feel gears change ever so slightly.

    • @ChristianMastrile
      @ChristianMastrile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For the most part shifting is pretty smooth. With mine it shakes a little when shifting going up hill so may need to do a drain and fill on mine soon. Hopefully it's nothing major

Yes BMW and Mercedes is nice, but they just start having issues after 100k, in my opinion they don’t ride as smooth and nice as a Lexus. Plus Lexus parts are a lot cheaper to replace, but I mean you barely have to fix a Lexus. It just gets up and go and go and go for years and years to come. The IS350 and IS250 get similar MPGs and are about the same price (found my 06 is350 with 90k miles for 9k). The IS350 doesn't suffer from carbon build up like the 250's and are also way more performance oriented (better engine and bigger brakes). Honestly for me it hasn’t been worth it I own a 2008 Lexus IS 250 with 120,000 miles which I got for $4,500, and have had it over a year now, and the major repairs I’ve had done are mass air flow sensor, I had to rebuilt the transmission bc the gears were worn off and replaced 2 transmission solenoids which cost several thousand. I don’t drive fast at all and get over 300 miles on it with a full tanks which is great, but that’s one thing about Lexus you have to worry about that transmission as they have lots of issues with it, other than that it’s a great looking car.

    Honestly, the 2is is better than the current Lexus lineup and most other modern cars. It has personality (interior and exterior) and aggressive gear ratios. The modern cars feel sterile inside and have too much unnecessary tech. Money is separate from taste, and that generation of Lexus's are the epitome of class and style.

    Tbh the 2-IS ( 2nd gen IS) is Lexus best design built. There's markets for upgrades from the latest LED headlights, tail lights, body kits, lip kits, side kit extender, rear diffuser and engine performance from Turbo to Supercharger, exhaust and suspension upgrades. I owned 3 IS350 from when I was on Guam 🇬🇺 2007 IS350 Starfire Pearl all options no GPS or rear cam, to when I relocated to Oahu I got 2008 IS350 Glacier Pearl, all options with GPS and back up cam, I got bored because on Oahu even the elderly are driving them its too common there, most popular model is the IS250 has all options no performance, so I sold it and wanted to follow my Filipino heritage and got a 2012 Accord V6 the Filipino's " Mercedes Benz" Got bored of it because it was a leased car so no mods could be done. Returned it back to the dealership and gave the contract to my friend, he's Filipino and we all like Honda. Then I saw a good deal on a 2006 Lexus IS350 Matador Red these don't come with the shark fin antenna, but had all options. Added on the latest LED tail lights which at that time looked like the oem except lights up like a xmas 🎄 , Had a fall out with my partner and gave him the car, that totally sucked. After about 2 years I got the 2011 Lexus GS460 Silver I liked it, mods was limited, I am 5'5 short man driving a big car 🤦‍♂️ my coworkers and friends kept telling me I look like a oldman driving a big Lexus like I was compensating for something lol "the saying Guys with lifted trucks big everything, but when they get off it they compensating for something...lol you get the idea". Then I saw the 2012 ISF Onyx Black the 1 I have now I had it shipped from Honolulu to Guam. It was either the ISF or the white M5 Bimmer did research on it and asked my coworker what he thought about it because he has the M3 ,he advise me to get extended warranty, have money on the side because the ecu chips when broken will cost alot, Turbos may need work as time goes bye, he said your M5 will be in the shop more than you'll be driving it🤦‍♂️.
    So I got the ISF named her Betsy-Lou, there's lots of story I can say about it, encounters with the law etc, if you'd wanna know about it will have to use another platform like IG or FB messenger lol.... You're welcome to watch my latest mods on Betsy-Lou look her up 2012 Lexus ISF Life on Guam USA-8 or on my TH-cam channel. Lol
    Note: I'm not trying to get 1M subs, just sharing and showing the world that the 2-IS LEXUS models has a whole lot of potential, you got the $$$ mods and performance could be limitless. For me it's totally worth it...

      @CJ #GroveStreet that’s good to know that it’s possible to get a 350 with AWD for those who need it.

    I want something that sounds nice for my first car that looks good and not too fast and its AWD as an option and it makes the same power as a 09 civic si but AWD so I want one for my first car

    Yo what you guys did so far to fix the carbon build up in the is250? So far all I been doing is driving it hard once a week. Kinda don't wanna do a oil catch can.

      Oil catch is the only way. RR racing sells a kit but sometimes will throw a code

      True. The original plan was to get it done but after looking into it a little more I don't think I'll need to take it that far

    Yo bro how about the IS300? Does it have more power then the 250? Or what are the difference. Can you make a video about it

    • @ChristianMastrile
      @ChristianMastrile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can def make a video on that! But the first gen IS300 has a listed higher hp than the IS250 plus it's lighter

    My question is I just lost my gs430 2003 so will this be an upgrade or a major downgrade which I’m knowing the answer is a yes because I will be losing like damn near 100hp and torque but as a daily driver will it be a upgrade ? Or should I stick to the V8 touch that I had with my GS? And if so what can I do to make it feel like my GS?

      Go for the is350, you keep the horsepower, but you get the looks, the build quality, mods, etc... Im planning on getting a 250 soon and did lots of research on 350 vs 250.

    I’m in the UK and the IS350 wasn’t sold here, I’m looking at 250’s and was wondering if there’s anything that you can get more power out of them with?

    I bought a manual is250 as my first car and it's perfect for me! Insurance is cheap, it's RWD, fun (not fast, but fun) and looks great imo
    Oh and dead reliable, very little issues on these cars

    I think as the 2IS gets older and cheaper, yes it's worth it. Got my 2009 for $12,000 with 40k miles in near mint condition last year for my daily driver. I needed a reliable car with decent gas mileage (my extremely modded camaro and tasefully modded g8 have sub standard gas mileage lol)
    I love the looks of the 2IS (after lowering, spoiler and rims of course) good balance of comfort with a sporty feel, seems to be reliable overall being its a toyota. The 2IS is the nicest in all the IS generations IMHO. With regular maintenance associated with the IS, it should last easily to 200k miles. Lol.
    Would i have paid 30-40k for the IS new....probably not. There was better options back 10 years ago for the same price.

    • @ChristianMastrile
      @ChristianMastrile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2IS can be used as your only car or even your 2nd/3rd car in your fleet and it won't stick out at all. Very functional but good looking at the same time. Even side by side to the Camaro or G8, can't deny how good it looks

    For the whole power gap argument, you can still modify the 250 with the same or better mods that can be done to a 350. I seen a dude who supercharged a 350, I’m sure it can be done for the 250. Sure it might not make as much as the 350 but the 350 has a 100hp head start. If you can push 300 or more hp to the wheels in the 250, that’s fast man. I have a 2010 250 that I’m gonna try to build and make a little faster.
