Dissidia NT Tifa faithful to the og FF7 Tifa. Fun fact NT her panties are black so no upskirts, but the boobs bounce since Dissidia NT was made by the guys with Dead or Alive though in the PSP version her panties are white, YES that's RESEARCH, other stuff favorite portrait has to be her Ehrgiez love her smile there and she's a top tier character in that game, Nomura's anime style did indeed change over the years, but still Tifa's long black hair, big boobs, long legs and gloves are too iconic. I find it funny that Rinoa, Dagger till Yuna has some facial similarities to Tifa, which tells you a lot they wanted to bank on her looks on other characters as well.

Tifa actually looked like Dolphin jumping out of water with her hair style in OGFF7 Limit Break, but now she looks like deformed Dolphin without a tail. What is the point of having Dolphin limit break when you do away with her Dolphin hair tip which makes her look like one.

Nah you’re not the only one. The second I saw her remake design in game all other designs of her turned to dust in my mind. It’s not just about the design of her outfit but the voice and her overall look and shape of her face. Like it way more than the others.
I personally really like Tifa's new design in the remake. Sure, her original design is iconic, but after playing the remake for a while, I'm really digging it. The thigh-high socks look really stylish. Probably just because thigh-highs are trendy in Japan right now, but personally, I always thought they were cute.

I will say that Advent Children is probably my favorite outfit. As she moves and spin kicks or flips, I really like how the longer skirt swishing about compliments her movement.
In AC, they wanted to allow Tifa keep her very long hair style but the technology at the time made it very hard to animate. Interview I remember watching the day the movie came out.
My first exposure to Tifa was Kingdom Hearts II and then Advent Children shortly after so I've always favoured that look, it's definitely my favourite, if I cosplayed Tifa that's the version I'd go for. In terms of realizing her classic look, NT is obviously the best but I totally understand why the remake design was tweaked the way it was; her wearing her original outfit in the super detailed, realistic world of the remake (as opposed to the more stylized, animesque aesthetic of the original) would just come across as kind of silly, just adding the socks and sports bra and tweaking the skirt to be more flexible was honestly a very clever way of keeping her outfit the same while still making it fit into the new style.
Completed the original game today, first time too and goddamn. I love this game so much and Tifa is the true waifu. Probably the most grounded character in the whole game, this was great video!
I think I love the remake's design just because it makes her seem more practical and flexible, how can she do all those flips and shit with a straight black mini skirt
If you watch Remake Documentary from Square Enix, they said if they wanted to make a realistic look, Cloud would have a big muscular body to be able to lift that gigantic sword with no problem. However that doesn't suit the image of Cloud they wanted, so they decided to adopt male gymnast slender yet muscular body. Meaning realistic is not what Square are after. At least not a number 1 priority.
@@banjira You're right, but I think the design changes are less for realism and more for practicality. Everything is less exaggerated in comparison to the original, I mean, just look at Cloud's tiny shoulder plate
The Artist Mark Flynn I think thats a great idea! I feel like Aerith/Aeris has enough meat on her bones for an episode on her own, but there's a large, wonderful supporting cast, too. I'd love to see a video rounding out the rest of the party members, and of course a Zack video \o/
The best design is subjective, and it depends on how one views Tifa. Being a martial artist myself, I actually prefer the Remake's design of her. Looks more realistic for martial artists. If you are an athletic woman, then you should look slender but with a well-toned physique. You also wear a sports bra. Her design in the remake, with the long socks and the sports bra make her more like a real fighter now. Her previous/original design makes her more like a sex object (because she is) than a fighter. Love her - my favorite female video game character
Tbf, in the original she only learns martial arts in between cloud leaving. I'd say she views herself more as a 'girl' than she does as a martial artist, not to mention the fact that she was secretly going for cloud
@@lukeyyyyyy it's never been explained exactly when Tifa begins martial arts lessons. For all we know she's already been learning it for years by the time Cloud leaves. She probably would've needed to undergo some kind of physical therapy after the fall from the bridge in Mt. Nibel, it's not much of a stretch to imagine that she may have started slowly into martial arts in order to regain her balance and strength only to become more deeply invested in it as a way to cope with the loss of her mother and the departure of many friends from the village.

First off, I wanna say that I would love it if you did a coverage of Aerith's designs throughout the years, definitely. :D With that out of the way, I would agree the NT model is probably the best depiction. The main issue I have with the Remake's design is not so much the practicality of it, but that it's relatively boring and clashes in some ways. I've seen a lot of fanmade Remake designs on the internet that look better than the official one; making her look close enough to her original design while maintaining practicality very well.

I really hope they eventually release alternate outfits for the remake. I would especially love to see Tifa in her classic and Advent Children outfits. Classic would be her new default for me.
I played FF7 at 9 years old - when first played I constantly used my imagination to fill parts I did not understand as a kid and the story was a way more visual experience rather than a narrative one. And as time passes by artwork was what was more fresh on my mind rather than the story details I got. So the character artwork of the menu avatar was THE thing that told me who am I playing as. I too remembered her (and wrongly still do sometimes) way more confident based only on her character design; Tifa with long hair, nice smile, and open eyes looking to the player with her head slightly tilted backwards and Aerith as a shy one based on her avatar expression with eyes half closed, looking another way with an aligned serious face. Nice decision. I would go for REMAKE but good arguments there choosing Dissidia. Can't wait for playing REMAKE it this friday.
I agree that Dissida NT design makes her look mature and gorgeous, if that model was in the remake, I wouldn't stop staring! So beautiful. Though I still wish they gave Tifa some muscles, she's athletic and she constantly beats up big ass monsters with her bare hands, I expect her to have some beef on her arms
Advent Children is my favourite Tifa design. I think she just looks so cool and all of the flourish in her movements with the dark outfit. Remake would be second and then the Dissidia and the newer promo art.

i'm a bit split when it comes to the stockings on the new design, on one hand, they're a bit superfluous to what is a generally very faithful redesign, on the other hand, they add a neat symmetry to her design since her arms are also covered in black arm sleeves, so that's a neat detail. overall, i'd say the new design is my second favorite, with the original design (and maybe dissidia) being my overall favorite. also, great job on the video as always.
I hate the stockings, because although I like stockings personally, the amount of black they add DRASTICALLY changes the color scheme from saturated, colorful, and warm. To cold and depressing, hell, her color scheme reminds me of 2b now, and granted, 2b is my favorite video game design of ALL time, but that's because the color scheme fit with the character.

@@alimowla3204 Well, white stockings have a different problem because they come with an entirely new and different set of perceptions. White is clean, sterile, saintly and bride almost, I don't think it works either way. White and Black aren't colors after all, they're shades. I am just in general not happy with the remake design of Tifa, when I see it I don't immediately recognize her as Tifa the way I do with most of the other designs, and I think that's primarily because of the color scheme, and secondarily about her aura (which is partially determined by her color scheme). The original Tifa had a lot of brown tones, Skin isn't white. This is human, warm. But most of that is removed, her suspenders were brown, but are now black. Her hair is darker, the warmth of her legs is now mainly black and even the top now has black around it. Black was a very small part of her color scheme in the original but is now very dominant. You often see these images where you just see a few lines of color and you can recognize the character because for iconic characters, a recognizable color scheme is everything. Tifa might be closed off and shy, but she's also kind, sweet, and motherly. Her appearance really fed into that, the way she looks in the concept arts and most of her representations is as a kind confident badass. She was secretly shy and insecure as well, but the point was that that wasn't reflected in her appearance, just like Aerith being the outgoing flirty one wasn't reflected in her more modest clothing. If I look at the face of for instance the g-bike art, Tifa just exudes strength, but she's still colorful and warm. In the remake they make her face very sweet, and her body very cold, and I REALLY don't like the overall effect. The reduced breast size also plays a small part in that btw but I can't seem to mention that without people no longer responding to anything else, when really it's the least of my problems with it. I do think the overall clothing CAN work though, if you just make sure some of the lost aspects come out some other way, for instance, there is an artist called Sreliata that made a Tifa render walking with the buster sword. Almost the same figure, same clothing, but for some reason the entire aura it gives off just SCREAMS Tifa to me, which the remake version just doesn't do for me.

It looks like they wanted everyone to wear leather in that movie XD 2: It's several years since the events of game, and it's a different time so I am ok with there being a slightly different vibe to Tifa (also really like her face in AC, it's very kind). 3: The overal design of that outfit looks a bit more mature, which helped the overall feeling of confidence. But most of all. That design is made to go with Clouds outfit, they match, which really establishes them as two parts of a duo, that really gives it a lot of bonus points for me. That having been said, if she'd worn that outfit in this game, I'd have been FURIOUS! XD (although I'd love it as an optional garment at some point)

I love the Advent Children look. It may have something to do with the fact that I was introduced to FFVII through Kingdom Hearts 2 and the first piece of FFVII-only media I watched was the AC film, but I do love it. She looks good in black and white. The outfit looks nice and well-fitted. It still makes her look beautiful while not compromising the fact that she's a badass. I remember the first time I saw artwork of her from the original game I was a little thrown aback.
Great and informative breakdown of the character design! I find it fascinating how despite her somewhat simple character design due to limitations of hardware back then, we can still remember her distinctive design right to this day. Strong and memorable silhouette, something that I feel like is somewhat lost in some modern games where they try to spice up too much detail and accessories. Great video man and I can't wait for the remake! My favourite design is probably the original because of nostalgia, also I can't believe I never noticed the physics in the FMV till today, you learn something new everyday :D.
I gotta agree, that NT design is awesome! For me it's not really so much about the subtleties of the outfit (though I do prefer that as well), but her face is just a lot more sexy in NT. It's all in the eyes; in NT they're slightly bigger and more inwardly slanted (as opposed to Remake's sorta "dopey" outward slant) and her eyelashes are ridiculously thick. Not to mention that lip gloss is poppin. But I think I also like from a strictly design standpoint how the lack of leggings breaks up her color palette, and how her big red gloves and leather arm gloves add a lot of visual interest. Remake Tifa looks practical, but now her palette has a little too much black - and a flat black at that. One could argue that all the black on her extremities drives your attention straight to her chest and face, but it feels like once you get past that, there's not quite as much fun to be had looking elsewhere aside from her pleated skirt and snazzy kicks.
as someone with a large chest not too far off tifa i was always SOOO MAAAAD at the lack of a sports bra and somehow magical lift of massive HEAVY knockers that somehow had them defying gravity like damn girl where tf you shopping and where can i go and just the thought of her running around without the proper support makes me cringe with pain. so the remake reigns supreme for me, i watch her with a smile knowing her ladies are supported just as they should be.
Felt this! And honestly jiggle physics in games where there’s things like fighting involved just hurt my soul, I can’t help but to almost feel how uncomfortable it’d be for the character, so I’m really happy when they actually get a proper sports bra lol

On the other hand what about tifas FF7R body and face but with the traditional outfit and hairstyle better displayed in FFDNT. I like how the hair was drawn back on the one side and is tight together with the spreading tail at the end. This made her Tifa. I hope there will be a chance to dress her this way if not already ingame then at least in some form of dlc
She is the No. 1 Video Game Waifu. Longer lasting than Lara Croft. More impactful than Chun Li. Tifa is a beast, and we all who were teens at the time, were changed men afterwards. And not just her body. (Although of course, her body. :D) She was the kind, caring, girl next door, who could kick ass but didn't rub it in your face. She did so much for Cloud. She is the perfect waifu.
Honestly, the remake and the NT Dissidia designs are tied for my favorite. It’s nice to have both a new original look compared to the original updated look, and the fact that both designs were revealed around the same time makes it better.
I feel like the more realistic they went with FF7 characters, the less interesting they look to me. They looked the best with the original FF7 artwork.
I love the remake design, the sport bra and sport panties under her new more flexible dress and her usual white shirt are perfect for a character that relies on close combat, but i do think that the leggings are a nono for me. And yes the disidia version seems faithfull to the original design, but that dress is way to slutty in my opinion and it looks like its leather made and that would make fighting like she does literally imposible whitout the skirt pulling up everytime she raises her leg.
@@Tenaxis In terms of practicity, this wearing could restrict the capability of Tifa to moves her legs, making illogical that a martial artist wears leggings. And in terms of aesthetical, the leggings makes her legs looks notably more thinner and less muscular.
The 2D art from Dissidia has always been my favorite. Also really love Puzzle and Dragon's version. I never ended up rolling her in the game during the events and was super bummed about it.
I thought it was going up at 2pm, not complaining lol. Some of the Amano designs of the VII characters are abit unusual coming off the Nomura artwork, but that's just his style and I wouldn't have him change it for anything. Also I'm sure I've said before - and as unlikely as it'd be - I want a cel shaded remake of IX that recreates Amano's artwork. Though between my wanting for the cel shaded Sonic Adventure remake in Uekawa's style I feel like Marge (in the Simpsons) when Homer says about lets go live under the sea. "Go cel shaded in the concept artist's original style, that's what you say for every video game remake. Its not gonna happen!" For another VII character, Vincent maybe?
I would love for the characters to have a variety of costumes. One for tundra/arctic environments, one for desert environments, an open plain outfit, a jungle outfit etc. That would be awesome.
My favorite has to be "Advent Children". I think it's the perfect blend of cool, ass-kicking, pretty and sexy, without being pandering. I mean, it's one of the most popular cosplays of all time, far beyond any other design. That's not a coincidence. I'm not too keen on the "Dissidia NT" design, to be honest. I can't put my finger on it, but her face looks... off to me.
I really like her new design, never played the OG FF7 or any game in which she's in so I'm probably not attached to her older design. I think preference pretty much comes from the nostalgia - for example I had a hard time switching to Jill's new outfit in RE3 Remake but in the end... I like it as well.
Well done. My 2 cents. I love the Remake Tifa. My breakthroughs the original game I was always an Aerith fan and had little connection to Tifa... the Remake totally changed that. The dialogue in Remake really fleshed out her personality in a way that my imagination did not. Moving forward though the rest of the Remake I have a whole new outlook on the character. And yes... if you havent yet. Please do an Aerith video.
I want shoes like hers. And I like what seem like pleats in the miniskirt, with the less obstructive belt and buckle. It retains the overall look of the original, but also expands on it and looks more practical for Tifa's style of combat. The original wasn't exactly out of place, but I do think the choice of detail grounds it better in the setting somehow, as pretentious of a remark as that sounds.
I love her remake design. Definitely my favourite. I love the black leggings and sports bra. It just makes everything more real and make more sense. Plus the skirt made no sense before. If she had a leather skirt with no pleating like that it would’ve ended up bunched around her hips when she fought ... which weaboos might like but I doubt Tifa would choose to wear that.
Cheers for the video. One question for fans though, anybody else ever got the impression that Tifa is supposed to look (at least half) Japanese? I know it's a strange question perhaps but when I look at her in Advent Children and other artwork from around that time, she really looks Japanese, but in the original it's hard to tell and in newer designs it's 50/50. And of course her name is not Japanese at all, but that doesn't mean much obviously. I'd love to hear others' thoughts.

I agree NT is the best Tifa design, and tbh I don´t dislike REMAKE Tifa, actually I love it but I hate the real reason of why she was censored and is not about practicality, I´ve seen a lot of fanarts and concepts of how Tifa would look in the remake that are paractical and are a little more accurate to the Original. I´m really HYPED for the remake and hope we don´t need to wait to much for the next parts, I expect it to be a 2 years wait as much and I wonder how they will add Yuffie and Vincent, they will continue tu be optional or maybe they will become part of storyline ???
Now that you brought up the great glacier, I would absolutely love to see all the characters dressed in winter outfits reminiscent of their normal attire.
Despite not being an official design, there's a rather recent model made by an artist called Blair Armitage that I would call my favorite, since it preserves the original while giving it a more realistic tone in how buff she portrayed Tifa. I don't hate the remake's design, but I wish the original outfit was an option since it made her kicks easier to read without the excessive glowy particle effects around her feet.
I absolutely adore the original and remake. I never really gelled with the Advent Children design tho. Even so I’ve always preferred Aerith’s character design to Tifa’s anyway lol

Showing off box art (yes even the gross us art) and all his different forms (X, .exe, starforce and even legends) part two could be an evolution of X, since he had a lot of changes (art style, armors and the x8 redesign, alobg with the megaman Zero copy x and elf X!)
I highly agree with you on choosing the Dissidia NT Tifa design as it’s quite faithful to the original. Just updated and bloody amazing. However, her FFVII Remake look is a close 2nd for me as I love the practicality of it and her gameplay fights flow nicely with the look EDIT: after playing FFVII Remake, I gotta say, her new design as won me over. Her look in the game matches the character a bit more and it’s something a real and respectful fighter would wear, and it blends better with the in game world. So my personal favorite is now the FFVII Remake Tifa. But that’s just my two cents. Cheers guys
The extra clothing in the remake reminds me of how Doom 2016 depicted Doom Slayer without his visible muscles. And my favorites are the remake and disidia nt, the remake looks badass, and disidia looks more authentic!
I think Blair's design is the best of both worlds. Her body features are realistic based on Tifa's martial art background and the stylized face says a lot about her personality. I really love the remake design, but seems like they toned her down a bit to emphasize her soft side.
@@anirogD9 They took aspects of Tifa's character and gave them to Jessie. They made Tifa way too much of a shrinking violet, but at the same time have her do these random idol poses. I've got some issues with the way they wrote the ladies in the remake. :D

My first exposure to Tifa was Kingdom Hearts II and then Advent Children shortly after so I've always favoured that look, it's definitely my favourite, if I cosplayed Tifa that's the version I'd go for. In terms of realizing her classic look, NT is obviously the best but I totally understand why the remake design was tweaked the way it was; her wearing her original outfit in the super detailed, realistic world of the remake (as opposed to the more stylized, animesque aesthetic of the original) would just come across as kind of silly, just adding the socks and sports bra and tweaking the skirt to be more flexible was honestly a very clever way of keeping her outfit the same while still making it fit into the new style.
Completed the original game today, first time too and goddamn. I love this game so much and Tifa is the true waifu. Probably the most grounded character in the whole game, this was great video!

If you watch Remake Documentary from Square Enix, they said if they wanted to make a realistic look, Cloud would have a big muscular body to be able to lift that gigantic sword with no problem. However that doesn't suit the image of Cloud they wanted, so they decided to adopt male gymnast slender yet muscular body. Meaning realistic is not what Square are after. At least not a number 1 priority.

The best design is subjective, and it depends on how one views Tifa. Being a martial artist myself, I actually prefer the Remake's design of her. Looks more realistic for martial artists. If you are an athletic woman, then you should look slender but with a well-toned physique. You also wear a sports bra. Her design in the remake, with the long socks and the sports bra make her more like a real fighter now. Her previous/original design makes her more like a sex object (because she is) than a fighter. Love her - my favorite female video game character
Tbf, in the original she only learns martial arts in between cloud leaving. I'd say she views herself more as a 'girl' than she does as a martial artist, not to mention the fact that she was secretly going for cloud

@@lukeyyyyyy it's never been explained exactly when Tifa begins martial arts lessons. For all we know she's already been learning it for years by the time Cloud leaves. She probably would've needed to undergo some kind of physical therapy after the fall from the bridge in Mt. Nibel, it's not much of a stretch to imagine that she may have started slowly into martial arts in order to regain her balance and strength only to become more deeply invested in it as a way to cope with the loss of her mother and the departure of many friends from the village.

With that out of the way, I would agree the NT model is probably the best depiction. The main issue I have with the Remake's design is not so much the practicality of it, but that it's relatively boring and clashes in some ways. I've seen a lot of fanmade Remake designs on the internet that look better than the official one; making her look close enough to her original design while maintaining practicality very well.

I played FF7 at 9 years old - when first played I constantly used my imagination to fill parts I did not understand as a kid and the story was a way more visual experience rather than a narrative one. And as time passes by artwork was what was more fresh on my mind rather than the story details I got. So the character artwork of the menu avatar was THE thing that told me who am I playing as. I too remembered her (and wrongly still do sometimes) way more confident based only on her character design; Tifa with long hair, nice smile, and open eyes looking to the player with her head slightly tilted backwards and Aerith as a shy one based on her avatar expression with eyes half closed, looking another way with an aligned serious face.
Nice decision. I would go for REMAKE but good arguments there choosing Dissidia. Can't wait for playing REMAKE it this friday.
Completed the game for the first time yesterday. Tifa was my favorite character in the party and made Barret the team spell slinger.
I agree that Dissida NT design makes her look mature and gorgeous, if that model was in the remake, I wouldn't stop staring! So beautiful. Though I still wish they gave Tifa some muscles, she's athletic and she constantly beats up big ass monsters with her bare hands, I expect her to have some beef on her arms
Advent Children is my favourite Tifa design. I think she just looks so cool and all of the flourish in her movements with the dark outfit. Remake would be second and then the Dissidia and the newer promo art.

i'm a bit split when it comes to the stockings on the new design, on one hand, they're a bit superfluous to what is a generally very faithful redesign,
on the other hand, they add a neat symmetry to her design since her arms are also covered in black arm sleeves, so that's a neat detail.
overall, i'd say the new design is my second favorite, with the original design (and maybe dissidia) being my overall favorite.
also, great job on the video as always.
I hate the stockings, because although I like stockings personally, the amount of black they add DRASTICALLY changes the color scheme from saturated, colorful, and warm. To cold and depressing, hell, her color scheme reminds me of 2b now, and granted, 2b is my favorite video game design of ALL time, but that's because the color scheme fit with the character.

@@alimowla3204 Well, white stockings have a different problem because they come with an entirely new and different set of perceptions.
White is clean, sterile, saintly and bride almost, I don't think it works either way. White and Black aren't colors after all, they're shades.
I am just in general not happy with the remake design of Tifa, when I see it I don't immediately recognize her as Tifa the way I do with most of the other designs, and I think that's primarily because of the color scheme, and secondarily about her aura (which is partially determined by her color scheme).
The original Tifa had a lot of brown tones, Skin isn't white. This is human, warm. But most of that is removed, her suspenders were brown, but are now black. Her hair is darker, the warmth of her legs is now mainly black and even the top now has black around it. Black was a very small part of her color scheme in the original but is now very dominant.
You often see these images where you just see a few lines of color and you can recognize the character because for iconic characters, a recognizable color scheme is everything.
Tifa might be closed off and shy, but she's also kind, sweet, and motherly.
Her appearance really fed into that, the way she looks in the concept arts and most of her representations is as a kind confident badass. She was secretly shy and insecure as well, but the point was that that wasn't reflected in her appearance, just like Aerith being the outgoing flirty one wasn't reflected in her more modest clothing.
If I look at the face of for instance the g-bike art, Tifa just exudes strength, but she's still colorful and warm.
In the remake they make her face very sweet, and her body very cold, and I REALLY don't like the overall effect. The reduced breast size also plays a small part in that btw but I can't seem to mention that without people no longer responding to anything else, when really it's the least of my problems with it.
I do think the overall clothing CAN work though, if you just make sure some of the lost aspects come out some other way, for instance, there is an artist called Sreliata that made a Tifa render walking with the buster sword. Almost the same figure, same clothing, but for some reason the entire aura it gives off just SCREAMS Tifa to me, which the remake version just doesn't do for me.

overall, i still prefer this design over the one in advent children, since i really don't dig the skort-coattail combo thingy as well as the weird sleeveless vest thing in that one, but i do see where you're coming from when it comes to the remake redesign.
@@alimowla3204 I tend to give the AC design some slack because of a few reasons.
1. It looks like they wanted everyone to wear leather in that movie XD
2: It's several years since the events of game, and it's a different time so I am ok with there being a slightly different vibe to Tifa (also really like her face in AC, it's very kind).
3: The overal design of that outfit looks a bit more mature, which helped the overall feeling of confidence.
But most of all.
That design is made to go with Clouds outfit, they match, which really establishes them as two parts of a duo, that really gives it a lot of bonus points for me. That having been said, if she'd worn that outfit in this game, I'd have been FURIOUS! XD
(although I'd love it as an optional garment at some point)

I love the FF7 remake design
I love the Advent Children look. It may have something to do with the fact that I was introduced to FFVII through Kingdom Hearts 2 and the first piece of FFVII-only media I watched was the AC film, but I do love it. She looks good in black and white. The outfit looks nice and well-fitted. It still makes her look beautiful while not compromising the fact that she's a badass. I remember the first time I saw artwork of her from the original game I was a little thrown aback.
Great and informative breakdown of the character design! I find it fascinating how despite her somewhat simple character design due to limitations of hardware back then, we can still remember her distinctive design right to this day. Strong and memorable silhouette, something that I feel like is somewhat lost in some modern games where they try to spice up too much detail and accessories.
Great video man and I can't wait for the remake! My favourite design is probably the original because of nostalgia, also I can't believe I never noticed the physics in the FMV till today, you learn something new everyday :D.
I gotta agree, that NT design is awesome! For me it's not really so much about the subtleties of the outfit (though I do prefer that as well), but her face is just a lot more sexy in NT. It's all in the eyes; in NT they're slightly bigger and more inwardly slanted (as opposed to Remake's sorta "dopey" outward slant) and her eyelashes are ridiculously thick. Not to mention that lip gloss is poppin.
But I think I also like from a strictly design standpoint how the lack of leggings breaks up her color palette, and how her big red gloves and leather arm gloves add a lot of visual interest. Remake Tifa looks practical, but now her palette has a little too much black - and a flat black at that. One could argue that all the black on her extremities drives your attention straight to her chest and face, but it feels like once you get past that, there's not quite as much fun to be had looking elsewhere aside from her pleated skirt and snazzy kicks.
as someone with a large chest not too far off tifa i was always SOOO MAAAAD at the lack of a sports bra and somehow magical lift of massive HEAVY knockers that somehow had them defying gravity like damn girl where tf you shopping and where can i go and just the thought of her running around without the proper support makes me cringe with pain. so the remake reigns supreme for me, i watch her with a smile knowing her ladies are supported just as they should be.
Felt this! And honestly jiggle physics in games where there’s things like fighting involved just hurt my soul, I can’t help but to almost feel how uncomfortable it’d be for the character, so I’m really happy when they actually get a proper sports bra lol

On the other hand what about tifas FF7R body and face but with the traditional outfit and hairstyle better displayed in FFDNT. I like how the hair was drawn back on the one side and is tight together with the spreading tail at the end. This made her Tifa. I hope there will be a chance to dress her this way if not already ingame then at least in some form of dlc

She is the No. 1 Video Game Waifu. Longer lasting than Lara Croft. More impactful than Chun Li. Tifa is a beast, and we all who were teens at the time, were changed men afterwards.
And not just her body. (Although of course, her body. :D) She was the kind, caring, girl next door, who could kick ass but didn't rub it in your face. She did so much for Cloud. She is the perfect waifu.

Honestly, the remake and the NT Dissidia designs are tied for my favorite. It’s nice to have both a new original look compared to the original updated look, and the fact that both designs were revealed around the same time makes it better.

She's a true spectacle to behold in this gen of gaming.
I love the remake design, the sport bra and sport panties under her new more flexible dress and her usual white shirt are perfect for a character that relies on close combat, but i do think that the leggings are a nono for me. And yes the disidia version seems faithfull to the original design, but that dress is way to slutty in my opinion and it looks like its leather made and that would make fighting like she does literally imposible whitout the skirt pulling up everytime she raises her leg.
What's wrong with the leggings? Just curious.
@@Tenaxis In terms of practicity, this wearing could restrict the capability of Tifa to moves her legs, making illogical that a martial artist wears leggings.
And in terms of aesthetical, the leggings makes her legs looks notably more thinner and less muscular.
The 2D art from Dissidia has always been my favorite. Also really love Puzzle and Dragon's version. I never ended up rolling her in the game during the events and was super bummed about it.

I thought it was going up at 2pm, not complaining lol. Some of the Amano designs of the VII characters are abit unusual coming off the Nomura artwork, but that's just his style and I wouldn't have him change it for anything.
Also I'm sure I've said before - and as unlikely as it'd be - I want a cel shaded remake of IX that recreates Amano's artwork. Though between my wanting for the cel shaded Sonic Adventure remake in Uekawa's style I feel like Marge (in the Simpsons) when Homer says about lets go live under the sea. "Go cel shaded in the concept artist's original style, that's what you say for every video game remake. Its not gonna happen!"

Personally I like the Advent Children design the most for Tifa.
I would love for the characters to have a variety of costumes. One for tundra/arctic environments, one for desert environments, an open plain outfit, a jungle outfit etc. That would be awesome.
My favorite has to be "Advent Children". I think it's the perfect blend of cool, ass-kicking, pretty and sexy, without being pandering. I mean, it's one of the most popular cosplays of all time, far beyond any other design. That's not a coincidence.
I'm not too keen on the "Dissidia NT" design, to be honest. I can't put my finger on it, but her face looks... off to me.
It's a popular cosplay because anyone can pull it off. That doesn't make it better, although I do like it.
I really like her new design, never played the OG FF7 or any game in which she's in so I'm probably not attached to her older design. I think preference pretty much comes from the nostalgia - for example I had a hard time switching to Jill's new outfit in RE3 Remake but in the end... I like it as well.
Well done. My 2 cents. I love the Remake Tifa. My breakthroughs the original game I was always an Aerith fan and had little connection to Tifa... the Remake totally changed that. The dialogue in Remake really fleshed out her personality in a way that my imagination did not. Moving forward though the rest of the Remake I have a whole new outlook on the character.

I want shoes like hers. And I like what seem like pleats in the miniskirt, with the less obstructive belt and buckle. It retains the overall look of the original, but also expands on it and looks more

The original wasn't exactly out of place, but I do think the choice of detail grounds it better in the setting somehow, as pretentious of a remark as that sounds.
I love her remake design. Definitely my favourite. I love the black leggings and sports bra. It just makes everything more real and make more sense. Plus the skirt made no sense before. If she had a leather skirt with no pleating like that it would’ve ended up bunched around her hips when she fought ... which weaboos might like but I doubt Tifa would choose to wear that.

Cheers for the video. One question for fans though, anybody else ever got the impression that Tifa is supposed to look (at least half) Japanese? I know it's a strange question perhaps but when I look at her in Advent Children and other artwork from around that time, she really looks Japanese, but in the original it's hard to tell and in newer designs it's 50/50. And of course her name is not Japanese at all, but that doesn't mean much obviously. I'd love to hear others' thoughts.

I agree NT is the best Tifa design, and tbh I don´t dislike REMAKE Tifa, actually I love it but I hate the real reason of why she was censored and is not about practicality, I´ve seen a lot of fanarts and concepts of how Tifa would look in the remake that are paractical and are a little more accurate to the Original.
I´m really HYPED for the remake and hope we don´t need to wait to much for the next parts, I expect it to be a 2 years wait as much and I wonder how they will add Yuffie and Vincent, they will continue tu be optional or maybe they will become part of storyline ???

Now that you brought up the great glacier, I would absolutely love to see all the characters dressed in winter outfits reminiscent of their normal attire.
Despite not being an official design, there's a rather recent model made by an artist called Blair Armitage that I would call my favorite, since it preserves the original while giving it a more realistic tone in how buff she portrayed Tifa.
I don't hate the remake's design, but I wish the original outfit was an option since it made her kicks easier to read without the excessive glowy particle effects around her feet.

I would love to see best of megaman! Showing off box art (yes even the gross us art) and all his different forms (X, .exe, starforce and even legends) part two could be an evolution of X, since he had a lot of changes (art style, armors and the x8 redesign, alobg with the megaman Zero copy x and elf X!)

I highly agree with you on choosing the Dissidia NT Tifa design as it’s quite faithful to the original. Just updated and bloody amazing. However, her FFVII Remake look is a close 2nd for me as I love the practicality of it and her gameplay fights flow nicely with the look
EDIT: after playing FFVII Remake, I gotta say, her new design as won me over. Her look in the game matches the character a bit more and it’s something a real and respectful fighter would wear, and it blends better with the in game world. So my personal favorite is now the FFVII Remake Tifa. But that’s just my two cents. Cheers guys

I think Blair's design is the best of both worlds. Her body features are realistic based on Tifa's martial art background and the stylized face says a lot about her personality. I really love the remake design, but seems like they toned her down a bit to emphasize her soft side.
