@@RealLainBear I had a minor epiphany about this - I think the reason Arin and Jon disagreed about what makes a game “immersive” is because Arin doesn’t have the patience or interest in reading text. when Jon would say Skyrim/Fallout/Banjo Kazooie is an immersive game and Arin said he doesn’t find those games immersive, I’m pretty sure it’s because he just doesn’t want to bother reading dialogue; Arin thinks games like Tetris/Puyo Pop/chess are immersive because they involve game mechanics only and he can focus exclusively on gameplay.

Even with nostalgia ignored, Tooie is not better than kazooie, imo. Bigger isn’t always better. It’s easier to get lost, it can take forever to accomplish tasks, and overall just felt bloated. I’ve never 100% just because the backtracking required to figure out all the puzzles was too much. Like the dinosaur level was such a slow and grinding stage.
BK is legit one of my all time favorite games, I couldn't even finish Tooie when I first tried it. I pushed through until Grunty Industries, and I hated it so much I just shelved it and never returned.
As much as I’d love to see that someday, I think it would take a miracle to get Jon back on Grumps. Probably best just to remember the good old days as exactly that.

I tried for the longest time to keep watching GG with Dan, and there were some good and funny moments, but OG gamegrumps was so much better. This feels like 2 friends sat playing games and having fun, Game grumps with Dan feels like some washed out, PC, appeal to the masses, choreographed bullshit.
Early Dan eps are still good, in a different way, but Jon definitely brought a manic energy that Arin had to keep up with. They make the Jon era great to revisit.

i think original Dan-era grumps were almost on par with Jon-era grumps in terms of synergy, atleast once Dan really settled into things. but as more and more new people were introduced and just things changing with time, it does seem like GG has lost a decent bit of its luster recently. but nothing good lasts forever, as seems to be a law of nature i guess.. but hey, so long as rewatching great older content keeps being fun, we'll still have the past.
