The leather really enhances the interior over the cloth interior on other Lincoln Cosmos. The 51 has subtle styling improvements over the 50' Cosmo, better looking full length trim on the sides, archway tail lights, a massive rock solid front clip that says quality and luxury. Whoever owned this car, if what we are seeing here is all original, they deserve special mention for how well this car has been kept. Nice to see a bright and shinny finish after all these years. The 50 Merc Custom had a lever you could pull from under the dash to give the car a boost of speed when passing. Wonder if the Lincolns had that feature ? Proff that size matters when it comes to luxury and beauty.
The Cosmopolitan also as the top of the line had a one piece windshdshield, the less expensive EL Series, had a 2 piece windshdshield. The automatics in these are the GM hydamatic.
Although the big '49-'52 Cosmos were really nice, especially with the unique headlight treatment, etc.... Just imagine how P.O.'d customers that bought a '51 were as soon as the '52 was released! Next to the "bathtub" cars, that '52 looks like it's straight out of Outer Space. I wonder if FOMOCO gave any inkling to the Buying Public that they'd so drastically modernize the '52s?
THE FRONT END, GRILL, & FRENCHED LIGHTS ARE A MASTERPIECE
