  • To test if aluminum blades can be sharpened and if they can cut. So I made a large cast aluminum Bowie knife.
To make the mold I used mansbond oil sand from www.artisanfou...

Seriously, he knows that aluminium isnt the best for a knife. Its probably not the best for most of the weapon castings he does. I think he's fully aware. Just sit back and relax and watch this fella hone his casting skills.

Brett right hell if likes doing this stuff he has a right to show it off and it not like he saying it for battle or any thing just showing what he enjoys....i do black smithing and blade smithing in my free time and i enjoy this vid and the knife

Low key, since it doesn't rust it could actually use as a table decent survival knife, like not like a perfect one. But a nice that you don't have to maintain as a plus he'll be pretty easy to sharpen since it's a soft metal.

Great work! You should consider making prop weapons for movies, as most of them are made of aluminum.

Though there is one thing I find peculiar is that you used only your hands to push in the sand, while I was taught to use some tools, so the sand is more tightly packed together. I wonder if this depends on the properties of this peculiar sand? Id does seem more clay-like that what we used.
(English is not my native language, so it's hard to find words when it comes to technical stuff. I hope it's still understandable.)

First time watching your channel. I'm on my 6th video. It's really cool watching as you progress over time. I feel like I'm learning from your "mistakes" (I don't mean anything bad by that, I'm sure you understand), just from watching you change your methods slightly from video to video. The war club was pretty freaking awesome. Keep up the great work man. Love to find more quality craftsmanship. Both your work with molding and also your video work are top notch. Wish all the best for you. Def earned my sub.

Hey, anyone who’s experienced with foundry work could you give me some feedback? So, I recently made a foundry made for a propane burner and for this I’m just using a weed burner but as soon as I put it in my foundry the flame turns a lumpish yellow and to solve this ElementalMaker suggested I widen the hole where the burner sits and I was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions or how to improve on his idea

    • @bramvanduijn8086

Your fire needs more oxygen, so you need to increase airflow or if you want to live dangerously replace air with pure oxygen from an oxygen tank. Decent chance that will go Boom if you don't know what you are doing, so I'd stick with air. More or bigger airholes, and/or an airpump (traditionally: bellows).
