Mikey never intended to win those races where he and jr done 1-2 finishes. He tried of course but not like he could have. Dale Sr told him to win the daytona 500, whoever is in front, stay behind him and push him, thats the only way you can win as a team ect. He took it to the heart and never looked back.
Michael and Dale Jr. were the greatest team ever at restrictor plate tracks, if they were 1 and 2 inside 5 laps to go, whoever was behind the leader would stay committed to the end. I always loved watching these two at Talladega and Daytona.
@KKFan9 Also the 2006 Winn-Dixie 250 Busch race. You can see the full race on TH-cam by typing it in the search box. Dale Jr had a 10 second lead in that race at one point.
@aptg95 the most lead changes they've had in the 2000s at talladega was 64 i think. dont remember what year tho. i know the last 2 years here there have been 55+ lead changes. i think 58 last year
Jr. didnt intentionally pull out and pass under the line. He was trying to avoid Kenseth and avoid making a mess. Gordon would have had the same call, and it's not like he hasn't been handed a few wins over the years.
No matter what you say, Dale Jr. will go down as one of the greatest drivers of all time. Jeff Gordon drove for 18 years. Dale Jr. drove for 10. And he has a shit-load of Plate track wins.
I feel bad for Kenny Wallace 2:56 , finished 5th and then NASCAR officials dropped him to about 19th because he passed Sterling Marlin below the yellow line. Questionable call, but I remember him saying "I still finished 5th, everybody knows, so NASCAR can do whatever the hell they want, I don't care" 😂 I love it
Everyone who say Johnson or Dale doesn't have any skill, well Jimmie like it or not is a 5-time champ and Dale has 18 wins. Maybe not as good as his father, but that's a big thing to live up to.
This 2002 race and the 2005 Aarons 499 where Jeff Gordon won, I never saw such dominating cars in a single plate race. Junior's car in this race was just simply un-passable. Thats the thing with DEI cars then...they rolled the center of the turns well.
Dude, even drivers say that a person with no experience whatsoever could run at Talladega at 140 - easily. Given some skill and practice, one could run 190 on an open track. The skill is to know when to lift off and when not to. Restrictor plate races are a roll of the dice.
@cpcomedy314 So you're saying you MUST be a dale earnhardt jr. fan in order to enjoy nascar as a sport as well?.... I like Dale Jr. too (24 is my fav), but you couldn't be more incorrect.
@MidniteHaze1 At this time Johnson had fast cars but was still learning due to the fact he was a rookie. By 2006 he got the hang of it and began to chalenge the 8 until the style changed to a luck fest. Too bad huh?
ya (i see that youtube made me reply with the same comment) but i thot i heard them say something about a 70 leader changes in one of the races from 2000-2007
The Bud Shootout racing in no way compares to the stretch of racing from 2000-2003 and doesn't even compare at all to the Busch Series package with the wicker on the top
oh well I thot I heard one before and they said it was 70 and it was in one of the races from 2000-2007 (I see that my computer made me reply with the same comment lol)
the older cars were just as safe and with the addition of the safer walls i dont see the reason for the new car. And the racing is less intense so its not as fun to watch
Well Ya I watched both the 500 and the Shootout but they can't go four wide or do moves like they could back in these days from 2000-2003. The COT actually isn't all that bad but I'm watching all the Busch plate races cuz its still a bit better racing
@cpcomedy314 what does liking jr have to do with being a nascar fan? i was born a gordon fan he beat srs ass and he did it clean...i have NEVER liked the earnhardts
I'm not an Earnhardt fan. I really never liked him or his son. Besides, they weren't the ones who really made NASCAR what it is today. You can thank the drivers from the mid to late 90's for making it popular. I.E. Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Jeff Burton, Terry Labonte, Earnhardt, Mark Martin, etc. All Earnhardt Jr has done is corrupt NASCAR.
uhh youre ignorant to not compare Kyle Busch to Dale Sr. Last year when Kyle was racin and winning like he was, though I didn't like how he was racin people, he totally reminded me of Dale Sr. and thats exactly why people had a love hate relationship w/ Sr. Even the announcers said that Kyle reminded them of Sr.
earnhardt is a great driver, the fact is he doesnt match with hendrick cars and the people, he went from a family business that he was doing great and contending for titles, now hes on a team that is the best he cant deliver, he sucks right now, im a junior fan for life but he wont get anywhere bein with hendrick, RCR Earnhardt Inc or start his own team, or fuck that and get Tony Sr back, but he will go nowhere with hendrick i hope he leaves after his contract is up after 2012
@jim1brink Dale Jr didnt SR did imo JR aint hungry for anything like his daddy was JR got everything handed to him SR worked himself to death for what he wanted
Johnson had a fast car in most of these races but got screwed out of them. And I dont like Jr, I just hate how he gets all this popularity with no skill.
@jim1brink but ur not making ur self sound smart no offence but what we are sayin is Dale Jr Didnt make the sport what it is and just becauses hes the son of dale sr and theres still Jeffery Earnhardt dont mean that if you dont like him dont mean you dont like NASCAR JR is overrated
@jim1brink Bullshit. I've loved Nascar my whole life, and have never been a fan of Sr. or Jr. I respect them., but I never liked them. I don't respect most of their fans though.
ok so big deal! he won. Then he won Daytona way back in 2004 with the red n white chevy. And after that what has he done? SHIT!!! Time to retire dale. Be an owner behind the wall...
The best years of plate racing they even sound better
rig48 i miss this engine, now its blah
rig48 best engine sounds of all time
Mikey never intended to win those races where he and jr done 1-2 finishes. He tried of course but not like he could have. Dale Sr told him to win the daytona 500, whoever is in front, stay behind him and push him, thats the only way you can win as a team ect. He took it to the heart and never looked back.
gotta love mikey and his commitment to the sport and whatever team he's in
Michael and Dale Jr. were the greatest team ever at restrictor plate tracks, if they were 1 and 2 inside 5 laps to go, whoever was behind the leader would stay committed to the end. I always loved watching these two at Talladega and Daytona.
Hendrick still has nothing on those old DEI plate engines to this day.
haha okay.....
Who?...
These kind of restarts are the best.
I loved these races back from 2001 to 2004 where every time you went to a plate race you knew Michael and Jr would be running 1 and 2.
"well hell, looks like everybodies about equal except jr" lol gotta love D.W.
Michael protecting jr
Dale Jr.'s first win on Fox.
Miss the painted Interiors
He's won 9 races since his Daytona 500 and has made the chase 5 times, thats what he has done since then.
If sr lives waltrip and he would of been so good.
Love how the pied piper skates around the track! A sight I miss!
A-MEN dude. This was back when NASCAR let the drivers be drivers...when the drivers actually had balls to question NASCAR. Ahh the good old days =]
I love the ones these days where you never know who will finish in the lead.
@KKFan9 Also the 2006 Winn-Dixie 250 Busch race. You can see the full race on TH-cam by typing it in the search box. Dale Jr had a 10 second lead in that race at one point.
God I miss those days with DEI
JRRRRR i was there hell yeah!
@atkins8824 128 of 188 laps led that day...... I loved it!
Nobody could touch this car back then. Back when racing was good.
for all you people who think that earnhardt senior didnt help make this sport obviously dont know that he brought in alot of safety to the sport
Next Sunday At Auto Club Jr's Hopes for The 2002 Championship were derailed By a Concussion
@aptg95 the most lead changes they've had in the 2000s at talladega was 64 i think. dont remember what year tho. i know the last 2 years here there have been 55+ lead changes. i think 58 last year
RIP Restrictor Plate Racing (how enjoyable they were) damn the COT
ya they have like a record of over 70 lead changes in a race
Jr. didnt intentionally pull out and pass under the line. He was trying to avoid Kenseth and avoid making a mess. Gordon would have had the same call, and it's not like he hasn't been handed a few wins over the years.
This was the race when Mike Skinner made it through the big one unscathed, right?
Back in the day when Junior could ACTUALLY win at a plate race at dega nowadays he gets wrecked......go junior
No the record was I think the 84' Winston 500 with 75 lead changes.....but the plate races from 00-02 usually had like 50 changes
Questionable call, but I remember him saying "I still finished 5th, everybody knows, so NASCAR can do whatever the hell they want, I don't care" 😂 I love it
well they cudda repaved it in concrete or didnt make it as smooth
Everyone who say Johnson or Dale doesn't have any skill, well Jimmie like it or not is a 5-time champ and Dale has 18 wins. Maybe not as good as his father, but that's a big thing to live up to.
Now a 7-time champ!
@aptg95 in the 2008 AMP Energy 500 there were 64 lead changes. im pretty sure thats #2 all time
This 2002 race and the 2005 Aarons 499 where Jeff Gordon won, I never saw such dominating cars in a single plate race. Junior's car in this race was just simply un-passable. Thats the thing with DEI cars then...they rolled the center of the turns well.
@PhilipTheBigOne ya he is i think he will do good and he will prob do nationwide races if hes good enough like they did with Austin Dillion
These were the best races. The Cars sound better, better TV coverage and The Big Ones were always bigger.
Dude, even drivers say that a person with no experience whatsoever could run at Talladega at 140 - easily. Given some skill and practice, one could run 190 on an open track. The skill is to know when to lift off and when not to. Restrictor plate races are a roll of the dice.
Yup. No gimmicky double-file needed...at least not here, because by turn 3 they were all side-by-side anyway.
Watch the pass he makes on Sterling Marlin at 2:58; going below the yellow is a big no-no.
i miss the days where it was all driver and not the car
yea i would love for mikey to win..........he deserves one before he gives it up..
I truly feel that jr could run for governor of Alabama.
@cpcomedy314 So you're saying you MUST be a dale earnhardt jr. fan in order to enjoy nascar as a sport as well?....
I like Dale Jr. too (24 is my fav), but you couldn't be more incorrect.
true dat. even though i'm a jeff gordon fan, they made nascar where it is today
@111cados111 if they did make a move i think he would have been able to block them. he's pretty good at blocking guys and making moves on guys
This is the race where Mike Skinner avoided the wreck, am I right
while ya got to remember he not 25 he 37 but still he can still own it in 2012!
@MidniteHaze1 At this time Johnson had fast cars but was still learning due to the fact he was a rookie. By 2006 he got the hang of it and began to chalenge the 8 until the style changed to a luck fest. Too bad huh?
ya (i see that youtube made me reply with the same comment) but i thot i heard them say something about a 70 leader changes in one of the races from 2000-2007
I love talladega
The Bud Shootout racing in no way compares to the stretch of racing from 2000-2003 and doesn't even compare at all to the Busch Series package with the wicker on the top
oh well I thot I heard one before and they said it was 70 and it was in one of the races from 2000-2007 (I see that my computer made me reply with the same comment lol)
@ShotgunDolphin He CAN drive. It's the Hendrick car.
Jeff Gordon is the Dega Dominator!!!!!!!!!!
jr?
@Mr420woo true also, he just lost his focus, he needs that drive to win again
And those are the only 5 races in what? 5 years?
the older cars were just as safe and with the addition of the safer walls i dont see the reason for the new car. And the racing is less intense so its not as fun to watch
I would think that was more of a contrast.
2001 EA Sports 500
Well Ya I watched both the 500 and the Shootout but they can't go four wide or do moves like they could back in these days from 2000-2003. The COT actually isn't all that bad but I'm watching all the Busch plate races cuz its still a bit better racing
No he won 5 more THAT year!
hehehe these cars look so funny now
@jim1brink umm Jeffery only made a few starts im sure u mean Kerry :)
jimmie Johnson was seriously zigging and zagging all around the track, but hte best of them all won it. Dale Earnhardt Junior!
The COT has ruined a lot of things.
and re paving tally
@cpcomedy314 what does liking jr have to do with being a nascar fan? i was born a gordon fan he beat srs ass and he did it clean...i have NEVER liked the earnhardts
ummm... nobody said anything about Gordon
only if Ward had help
I'm not an Earnhardt fan. I really never liked him or his son.
Besides, they weren't the ones who really made NASCAR what it is today. You can thank the drivers from the mid to late 90's for making it popular.
I.E. Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Jeff Burton, Terry Labonte, Earnhardt, Mark Martin, etc.
All Earnhardt Jr has done is corrupt NASCAR.
Ever since JR. switched to Hendrick Motorsports, he has fucking failed.
yeah ward had a shot a wining if he had help
@PhilipTheBigOne yaa i kno the #1 truck
O you were being sarcastic in the comment I replied to? haha
uhh youre ignorant to not compare Kyle Busch to Dale Sr. Last year when Kyle was racin and winning like he was, though I didn't like how he was racin people, he totally reminded me of Dale Sr. and thats exactly why people had a love hate relationship w/ Sr. Even the announcers said that Kyle reminded them of Sr.
@cpcomedy314 That's because he can't drive anymore.
earnhardt is a great driver, the fact is he doesnt match with hendrick cars and the people, he went from a family business that he was doing great and contending for titles, now hes on a team that is the best he cant deliver, he sucks right now, im a junior fan for life but he wont get anywhere bein with hendrick, RCR Earnhardt Inc or start his own team, or fuck that and get Tony Sr back, but he will go nowhere with hendrick i hope he leaves after his contract is up after 2012
lol dont hold your breath
@jim1brink Dale Jr didnt SR did imo JR aint hungry for anything like his daddy was JR got everything handed to him SR worked himself to death for what he wanted
Johnson had a fast car in most of these races but got screwed out of them. And I dont like Jr, I just hate how he gets all this popularity with no skill.
@jim1brink And NASCAR really made the Earnhardts dead. I love irony!
@cpcomedy314 its the old 25 car that sucks....that team was always shit end of the team. shame.
@jim1brink but ur not making ur self sound smart no offence but what we are sayin is Dale Jr Didnt make the sport what it is and just becauses hes the son of dale sr and theres still Jeffery Earnhardt dont mean that if you dont like him dont mean you dont like NASCAR JR is overrated
not anymore =( more like jimmie johnson or jeff gordon
B.S.
@jim1brink Sr. has, but Jr.'s not even close to being the greatest driver in the sport.
@jim1brink Bullshit. I've loved Nascar my whole life, and have never been a fan of Sr. or Jr. I respect them., but I never liked them. I don't respect most of their fans though.
you kidding the cot ruined the sports future its ether your new to nascar or you dont know a damn thing about nascar
ok so big deal! he won. Then he won Daytona way back in 2004 with the red n white chevy. And after that what has he done? SHIT!!! Time to retire dale. Be an owner behind the wall...
