I know it must be annoying to have everyone ask you to bring back things you did over ten years ago but he's shown in a few clips that he doesn't even remember the story of SOI much and tends to get a slightly irate tone in his voice whenever he's asked. Maybe if he'd finished it in the first place, he wouldn't have to deal with all the questions :P

One of the biggest gimmicks it has is moving block constructs, in several different forms, all of which can be made practically useful. For building a massive door, you'd just need to build one such assembly on a mechanical bearing, which would allow it to turn in place, but the mechanical bearing could also be used to make, say, a quarry, or a tree or plant harvester. It also allows for the construction of multi-block structures that can be attached to one or more minecarts, allowing for fully customizable trains or trams or whatnot, or a tunnel borer, or etc. Create is an absolute marvel of a mod and I adore it. If you think about it most if not all of the "scripted" and "linear" content of the yogscast is now gone. I think that first of all it's just not profitable anymore and second it would take too much of them nowadays to make content like that

I think the last five was in 2016 and the money side of things didn't really take grasp until the year after. I'm guessing here but I'm assuming a lot of the people who used to source, test and construct the "maps" either left or stopped doing them for insert reason. I know FyreUK used to make a load of the maps for Yogscast series and they left I think the late end of 2016, I don't think it's really a coincidence that things slowly slowed and then stopped. I seem to remember Ben and Tom saying that Lewis told them that he didn't need them to work on Yoglabs projects in 2016. So I just think it was a slow ball of many things that led to those sorts of projects to be stopped, I think also it was around that time where some of the members were getting tired of playing Minecraft all the time. I think this timeline map perfectly capture just that. I’m pretty sure it’s just a combination of a lot of reasons The Yogs moving away from Minecraft, scripted content becoming less popular, Simon wanting to step back from the channel back then and of course all the work that would have had to go into finding new interesting mods, getting the mods to work together, planning and scripting the video and building what they need not to mention that that’s all before they even film, edit and upload it In the time it would take them to do one episode of Yog Labs they can probably make ten of something like TTT
We need to kidnap Simon, so we could relaunch the SOI & YogLabs on our own. Then Lewis and the gang have no choice but to join in and save Simon from being able to complete the timelines.
Funko Pops are are absolutely god-awful though. I can just about accept the ones of aliens, monsters or other unusual non-humans (or masked humans), but all the ones that are just a person in some clothes (i.e. the majority of them), have no redeeming value whatsoever.

The real reason it got canned was probably some differences between Lewis and Simon. They stopped working together sometime in their Foundation series.
Lewis just fucking blatantly ignoring the remarks and comments about yogslabs. Kinda has me dying. I'm sure yoglabs and more than likely Shadow of Israphel are still a sore spot for the Yogscast and for the members that have been since those series. And I still don't think they have ever given a concrete answer to why those series ever came back
If my knowledge is vaguely correct, Ridgedog was a key player in setting up the maps for a while. Aside from that, I guess cuz they veered away from Minecraft.
There are a variety of reasons. They needed to first find interesting mods, then get staff to create the rooms, lab setting & environment setup. Then they had to write the script and test everything. This is a ton of work and since half of the original members involved are gone now, wouldn't be surprised if Sjin was instrumental in getting the build setup, and the other half had a declining interest in playing Minecraft it just doesn't seem overly feasible economically. I'm sure many would gladly welcome it but it just seems like too much is going on at the moment.

Aside from the Yogs related reasons, the Minecraft community isn't what it was back then. Not that many quality mods are created nowadays and hardly any custom maps are released. Gone are the days when you could browse Minecraftforum and download a different custom map every day. The community has gotten a log younger, so creators are geared more towards making custom minigames and servers instead.
While I agree with the maps, the idea that no quality mods are being made is just nonsense. There are so many ridiculously insane mods that could still be covered in Yoglabs.

There are the occasional joke mods too, but it's not like those died out either. Also "a few quality mods every week" seems like one hell of an exaggeration. Minecraft modding was at the height of its quality in 1.7.10 I'd argue. And even then 90% of the mods being released were just kinda meh.

When I was younger, I was more aware of recent trends, I guess I lost quite a lot of interest, too many things these days. This funko pops trend flew complety past me.
I mean, when they're part of a network that includes the people they're taking clips of, and I'm fairly sure being working *for* the guy whose facecam is in the bottom right...I don't see the ethical issue there
