I get the feeling that the hospital knew he wasn’t going to make it. I mean he was in there a month and he looked unwell coming out so I believe they sent him on his way to pass peacefully in the comfort of his home. I’m very privileged to have met him before. RIP, Prince Phillip
Agreed 100%. He looked really unwell when he left, reminds me of my grandpa when he was on the way out. He would have wanted to die at home and not in a hospital. I'm surprised he had the heart surgery, but perhaps they thought it was going to keep him alive a little longer?
I've seen it many times how people who are dying just rapidly start looking frail and thin. He knew he was dying.

What a great life he lived & to be married to the same woman after all these years. A lot of young guys nowadays can learn something from this. To be faithful & NEVER forget what you have at home. Rest in peace dear sweet prince.
He may look like crap but he was Blue when he went in. Glad he was able to get out in a car instead of a hearse. He actually is a better colour than he's been for a long time which may be a result of his heart surgery. He is 99 after all and probably been to hell and back in the last 4 weeks. Hope his recovery continues.

If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia, have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy is an important one.
Of course Prince Philip could be tactless, and he had his failings as a father. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the service Prince Philip gave, and the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in everybody's lives.
