She had heart issues yet still chose to drink the high-caffeine beverage. While I don't believe it's responsible for a business to serve such drinks, ultimately individuals must take responsibility for their own actions.
It would have been better if it was behind the counter and served that way. It was unlimited refills for this energy drink

@TheUAProdigy true my daughter and I had drank plenty of the caffeine drinks and we had no idea they had caffeine in them. We finally saw a sign and was like OMG.
I have low tolerance to caffeine. Even a small cup can make me feel jitters. I then found out just last year I had afib. Cardiologist said caffeine in moderation isn’t too much of a concern. He said that if I had more than 4 cups of coffee per day then that would be excessive and that could have negative effects to anyone. It’s not just Panera, but many energy drinks have way more caffeine than coffee. No one really reads the back of the can to determine how much caffeine they consume in one day. Someone could easily consume 10 cups of coffee worth of caffeine by drinking three energy drinks. I think there should be better indicators of how much caffeine is in a drink and measure it by cups of coffee worth of caffeine because MG doesn’t click. Example: High Caffeine warning = 3 cups of coffee worth of Caffeine. This way people can make informed decision to consume it or not.
As someone with a heart condition I stay away from any drinks that say energy, charged, boost, plus, extra, etc. those usually have caffeine. However, I agree, it should be made clear when something has caffeine and how much is in it!
The problem here is there are people drinking what they shouldn’t be drinking and Panera didn’t call them energy drinks is what caused the problem this is the first lemonade that’s an energy drink I never knew it was an energy drink

I didn’t even know these were energy drinks before this lawsuit came about. I drank a lot of it without the knowledge of how caffeinated it was, I thought it was just a regular flavored lemonade with a fancy name to get sales up.

Me too! It did not warn of it. That was probably 1.5 years ago though.
Those lemonades was good and I had no issues. So how could it be the restaurants fault. They show the amount of caffeine right on the labels. If the young lady knew she had a heart condition and high caffeine could be a problem for her than she drank at her own risk then.

I had never heard of a caffeine laced lemonade. I normally expect lemonade to be like cool aide. Just juice and sugar. Not caffeine.

First Panera Bread removes the sandwiches I enjoy, like the Pepporoni flatbread pizza, and sandwich and now they remove the Caffinated cold beverages? I'm a college student, and let me just say, I never felt anything after drinking the Caffinated drinks. Back before they placed the Strawberry mint lemonade in the back, I usually get 3-5 refills of the stuff, but also manage to put a lot of ice in the drink since it had tasted a bit too sweet to my liking. Either way, it didn't affect me all that much, and I would have the drink every day on my campus..... But now, they're going to discontinue it? Send me the recipe, I want to know how I can make the Strawberry Mint Lemonade charger.
you may not realise but each one of those drinks is the equivalent of drinking a 5 hour energy. The fact they allowed people to get free refills is absolutely insane no one expects that drink to contain that much caffeine

Drinking caffeine promotes the release of noradrenaline and norepinephrine which can increase heart rate and blood pressure in some individuals. For most people this is well tolerated, but for others it may lead to palpitations or extra beats from the heart.

No the drink its overly caffeinated and is allowed free refils they are served in giant soft drink cups too. It makes no sense to have that much caffeine in a regular serving and allow full refills without even warning the customer. Restaurant food is supposed to be safe this drink isn't safe...

Think about every time you've been to a fast food restaurant and refilled your drink its absolutely not safe at all to be giving people that much caffeine...

People should BE 0:57 smart Enough to make their own drinks @ home 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️. Invest in A juicer & freeze your juices for longer , fresh taste . Anything from Starbucks, Dunken Donuts or Panera isn’t it !!! Gotta watch how much Caffeine you consume everyday.

These charged drinks did not have much of a warning as to how much caffeine was in them prior to the deaths of those people. Only AFTER did they make any attempts to warn people so you should probably shut your mouth.
It's because they didn't explicitly say that these drinks were highly caffeinated. Neither list/post the amount where visible of how much caffeine was in each drink. I'm one of these people who cannot nor should I ingest large amounts of caffeine. It will raise my blood pressure and increase my heart rate to catastrophic levels. Nobody should be serving drinks with lethal levels of caffeine, without proper listings or notices.
@@kikibigbangfan3540the signage always had the mg of caffeine and the slogan was "up the energy" and explains there is more caffeine. The friend even said she was aware she knew she had a heart issues and was aware the drink had a lot of caffeine. I'm sorry she past away, but it's just an opportunity for an ambulance chasing attorney to make a quick buck. We all know Panera will settle the attorney will make a ton of money and the the family will see a small percentage.

I stopped going to Panera Bread years ago! My lunch always rang up to $25. Outrageous!! Their food isn't THAT good for me to spend that amount on lunch. The last I remembered they were going to be a clean eating restaurant. That was nearly a decade ago they made this commitment. So, how does super highly caffeinated lemonades tie into their new clean eating business model?

I was just at A Panera bread last night. They had warning signs out for those drinks specifically. Glad they’re pulling them now.

The lemonade contains too much caffeine. It just makes sense to pull it.
I know I know people are gonna be like “well she had a heart condition so how could she not have known and why would she be drinking it” but at the same time I still think the restaurants have a responsibility to make sure that their products are safe. People have died from drinks and did not have heart condition so they really shouldn’t be selling them, personally I don’t like these types of drinks. I don’t think they’re healthy at all and if they can mess with your heart, I don’t know why they’re allowed to be sold

I have heart issues, I walked into a 7-Eleven to purchase a Red Bull. I drink the Red Bull knowing the contents of the drink. I am at fault for knowing drinking this drink.

I am sorry for their loss but some money grabbing lawyer probably told these grieving parents that a lawsuit was a good idea. How about your daughter who knew she had a heart condition and decided to drink a highly caffeinated beverage? I don't have a heart condition but my body becomes hypertensive when I drink coffee...should I sue the coffee makers? Or should I simply avoid such beverages?

Nothing like an incompetent family who can't raise a child to take 2 minutes to ask about a new drink when it comes to their health. They literally could have looked it up on one of the many smartphones they all had with them. Guess their incompetence decided for the 9 million that grace Panera.
Car accidents are more common than one of the Charged Panara drinks causing you harm. But let those who can't take care of themselves keep deciding for the rest of us who can actually inform ourselves.
