Lila couldn't go to high school, she dreamt of studying and writing books, get out of her poor hometown, ruled by little thugs who belittled her and the rest of the people... but she had to stay here and find an economic stability by marrying a toxic and abusive husband... while her best friend went studying. You can't really hate her knowing all of that. I mostly feel sorry for her tbh. Sure she wasn't always kind and was sometimes a bit agressive and haughty with Elena and the others, but you have to look at everything she had to give up in her life...
@@dimitrisolaz6921 i know, she was jealous of Elena’s life and she gets her opportunity to be happy, maybe this was really the only time she spent free and happy in all her life (idk if you have read the full series)

I liked Nino. I really really did, even if I did agree with one reviewer who said that he's better looking than any teenage boy has any right to be. Then at the wedding in episode 8 I kept thinking 'what's his problem'? And something just went away.
He was an narcissistic toxic boy but he was afraid of Lila... I hate him for what he does after to Elena I can t unurstand if he was still in love with Lila did not come back to her... And decide to destroy Elena ' s wedding. He always know that Elena loves him he s a cruel man!!
I wonder how you felt when you got to the harrowing finale. I know it took me more than a year to finally re-read the wonderful saga and appreviate it for itself. Wish the end could have been different though but I'm guessing the author had an internal monologue going which didn't leave her any choice but to end up that way
I read the books, and yeah for me while reading, I thought him "in love" with Lila. Lenù was maybe prettier, an quite intelligent herself back then, but she was a mean to an end ; to be with Lila was his goal, because he was fascinated by her. But nothing is genuine about this character.
@@13ju666 You mean when they were children cause as teens/adults Lila was prettier? Imo Nino loved neither one. Nino loved Nino. But yes as a child he was infatuated with Lila. As an adult he was a player.

I really hate Lila and Nino, they knew elena was in love with him, lila is so selfish, it seem it's as if everyone has to tolerate her whims, I really pity Stefano, but especially Elena, really my hatred for Lila is growing, her envy knows no limits and her whole life is based on screwing up everyone's life, not only has she suffered, but it seems that she is always the victim.
I don't hate lila, but she's getting on my nerves( i have almost completed second book) lenu is always clinging to lila even when she belittles and demeans her constantly. Lenu is colorblind, she can't see that both nino and lila are walking red flags, I just want to shake her, make her come to senses and push away both of these toxic, narcissistic people. But she suffers from inferiority complex, I just want her to take a grip and stand up for herself for once and even be selfish! As much as I am angered with lila, I am equally frustrated by lenu.
It also serves as pretty good foreshadowing for Nino's general inability to understand the difference in the historical circumstances between men and women. He of course had a shitty male role model so perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise, but Lila's right to rip a piece out of him when he minimizes the difference in consequences in ending his frivolous high school romance and Lila's oppressive and 'strategic' marriage under which she's really only been trying to find ways of stealing back her freedom this season or to rail at the enemies that make her life so circumscribed. Nino is, comparatively, completely free to do whatever he wants, and always has been.

It is really a pity, and it is sad, that one of the most important, and well known, Italian writer wrote a book which speaks the whole time about envy, cursedness, hate, wickedness, competition, violence against women and that such a book as such a big success. el napolitano es difícil también para los italianos mismo ^^
Si hablan en dialecto tampoco los comprenden los italianos que no lo hablan.
