He wanted to be a nameless Stormtrooper... George made him a Jedi. Now Mace Windu is one of the best characters in Star Wars. Funny how things turn out
loved the corruptness and loss of way his character symbolized the manifestation of in the Jedi Order. Lucas is brilliant and those story moments, the Sequels and Disney movies are really suffering without his brilliance and influence
That's some respect right there! Howard rattles off two directors people put on a shortlist for the greats of their respective generations, and Sam basically is like "Hold up." and has to make sure George Lucas gets props.
Yeah Lucas got so much hate for directing the prequels, I think Liam Neeson said it was Lucas who gave him the worst piece of direction in his career. Lucas gave Sam a great role, but the man would have been happy with a stormtrooper cameo. Amazing. Sam Jackson is a great guy
I love how honest he is. He knows his work allows him to afford the life he has, so just keeps working. No arrogance, no egotistical nonsense, just the straight up honest and simple truth.
here's some more for your list as well, the Barrymore's i don't mean Drew i mean her grandfather John, Lionel and Ethel they hated acting and the reason they did it was cause each time they tried to do something different, Lionel tried painting i believe and wrote music as well, John had his art, and Ethel had her Piano none of them were able to make money from any of the things they truly loved and so they said fuck it if i'm forced to act i will. they all hated acted cause by the time they had been born that family had been HUGE Stage actors for like at least a hundred years already. all 3 of those are some of the best actors of all time and it's just a damn shame they hated doing it.
I like how Jackson's first reasoning for why he would take any role when starting out was to help his daughter get through college, not pay the bills or to buy a house or whatever, just getting his daughter a good education.
If mace windu is still alive and turns out to be in the mandalorian, Sam Jackson is going to be in a whole new level. Even today he says mace is still alive. We will see, crossing fingers. 🤞
I love everything I see this gentleman in. This has been over the years one fine actor and even a better person .An individual with class and intelligence .God bless you Laurence Fishburne .I'm just playing ,Thank you Mr. Jackson.
Not just A jedi he was cast as THE best jedi lightsaber fighter and one of the most powerful of all time. He even had his own unique ability and lightsaber
This is so weird: I’ve never seen exorcist 3 but I had a dream a few nights ago that I was watching a movie with sam jackson in it and all his lines were overdubbed
I remember that talk show as a kid. It was a show called TFI Friday, which was on channel 4 in the UK. He was like "I'll be a storm trooper...anything. I don't care". I remember at the time thinking "I wonder if he'll ever end up being a storm trooper and no one will know". Funny how things turned out.
Samuel L. Jackson born 1948. William Jonathan Drayton Jr. aka Flava Flav born 1959. 11 years difference to play the Dad. sounds legit. but seriously though Samuel L. Jackson looks fucken young for a guy in his 70s while Flava Flav currently looks like he is in his mid 70s
That is true, though. You need to just be out there so people see you. The worst thing that can happen to you as an actor is people forget about you. That's why actors end up in movies where you're like, "what the hell were they thinking?" Because you need to just be out there. They're not all going to be winners anyway. You can read a script you think is good, but the movie end up just being a complete mess.
Thing is, you have to have something that works for you to be able to do that. Like he mentions Michael Caine, who is a very charismatic and a really good actor, even in a bad movie, he will still stand out. The same goes for Samuel L Jackson and you could probably even say that about Nicolas Cage, he's made some really bad movies, but he is never really bad in them.
no i don't think he sees it that way, QT yes did give him a career but he's worked with so many directors through the years that i think to him his work with other directors are on that list, Spike lee for example is on that list even though he never got famous from his films, and other directors i think he is grateful to them cause they gave him work. that's what i think anyways i dunno how right or wrong i am

"I have had it with these mudderfukkin droids on this mudderfukkin starship!"
Well, if we're being REAL about the situation...."IVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHER FUCKIN SITHS IN THIS MOTHER FUCKIN SENATE!"
Morten I love this comment so much.
Mace Windu is one of the highlights of the prequels.
Yes
Even people who don't like Star Wars 1-3 love Samuel L Jackson's character and performance! Everybody loves Mace Windu
Lanwarder truth. Absolutely detested the prequels but you can never go wrong with Samuel L.
loved the corruptness and loss of way his character symbolized the manifestation of in the Jedi Order. Lucas is brilliant and those story moments, the Sequels and Disney movies are really suffering without his brilliance and influence
Ewan McGregor was the best part of the prequels
That's some respect right there! Howard rattles off two directors people put on a shortlist for the greats of their respective generations, and Sam basically is like "Hold up." and has to make sure George Lucas gets props.
Yeah Lucas got so much hate for directing the prequels, I think Liam Neeson said it was Lucas who gave him the worst piece of direction in his career. Lucas gave Sam a great role, but the man would have been happy with a stormtrooper cameo. Amazing. Sam Jackson is a great guy
Fucking right!
the mr when did Liam Neeson say that?
Exactly!!! I love how he respects George so much
@@RyAn-sj7ck liam said George's direction was great not bad. Stop lieing bitch
Don’t worry Sam the prequels aged really well and most people love them now
The only people who hate the prequels are the people who were around when the original trilogy came out and talk about the good old days
The prequels have aged horribly what are you talking about?
Because they are more ambitious storytelling then the current crap trilogy now
The CGI is HORRIBLE. The cgi carachters 🤮
the prequels werent as good obviously but compared to the new ones my god there master pieces
He looks like he's in his late 40s, this man ages well
He was 40 in his first movie
I love how honest he is. He knows his work allows him to afford the life he has, so just keeps working. No arrogance, no egotistical nonsense, just the straight up honest and simple truth.
How the hell is he 70 years old?!
rofl i thought hes in the late 50s xD. really impressive
Arnav Bhattacharjee Black don’t crack
Arnav Bhattacharjee because he was born 70 Years ago
And Howard Stern is 65. That's crazy
what?! I was thinking 55-60!
Only actor I hear say he acts for the money...RESPECT.
other actors would make up some BS.
yeah he also really loves acting a lot because he'll still do a straight to dvd movie and there's not much money in that lol
And harrison ford.
Boi, you should better listen to Harrison Ford :D
@odeerg I was going to write that exact comment! You can also add Brando. He HATED acting but felt it was his duty to put food on the table.
here's some more for your list as well, the Barrymore's i don't mean Drew i mean her grandfather John, Lionel and Ethel they hated acting and the reason they did it was cause each time they tried to do something different, Lionel tried painting i believe and wrote music as well, John had his art, and Ethel had her Piano none of them were able to make money from any of the things they truly loved and so they said fuck it if i'm forced to act i will. they all hated acted cause by the time they had been born that family had been HUGE Stage actors for like at least a hundred years already.

"I've had it with these motherf**king stars and their motherf**king wars" - Samuel L Jackson
He wanted to work with Lucas and George made him one of the baddest Jedi of all time 👍😎
Mace Windu had those lightsaber skills maxed out. Fucking Sith Force lighting got him.
I like how Jackson's first reasoning for why he would take any role when starting out was to help his daughter get through college, not pay the bills or to buy a house or whatever, just getting his daughter a good education.
Private school. A bit different from college.
Thank God he didn't turn down The Matrix
damn, no one to r/whoosh
Freddie Mercury I’m sure he was not in matrix
HA! I GET WHAT YOU DID THERE😂😂😂
Lol
...really not sure if joking, so just in case: that's not Samuel L. Jackson. It's Lawrence Fishburne
Samuel L Jackson talking about how he 'dodged some bullets' lmao. "What happened here was a miracle and I want you to acknowledge that."
But was it an according to hoyle miracle?
Look juls we gonna get out of here unless u continue this conversation in jail cell
He didn't dodge 'Snakes on a Plane'...lol.
YOU witnessed a miracle. I witnessed a freak occurrence . . .
He also had a small part in the movie Goodfellas.
Howard has always been a great interviewer.
Always? Even when he was 8 years old?
CooterCoy Especially when he was 8 years old
@@TalkingTurtle97 lol
You mean Brian May?
Fake news. This man is always interrupting
Tfw you realize that Ving Rahmes (Marcellus Wallace) was actually the youngest male actor out of the main 4 in pulp fiction
That just fucked my head up lol. Ive seen that movie a million times, love it, one of my top 10 and i didnt know that. Thats insane
They should have used him more in Star Wars. He was great - as usual one of my fav actors!
If mace windu is still alive and turns out to be in the mandalorian, Sam Jackson is going to be in a whole new level. Even today he says mace is still alive. We will see, crossing fingers. 🤞
The REALIST dude in Hollywood. Iconic! I can listen to him speak all day.
Boobalopbop realest
John Smith look someone else throwing “racist” around. Jesus Christ, that word has lost all meaning in today’s world.
@Boobalopbop Agreed. Another one is Matthew McConaughey. Despite their fame, both Sam and Matthew are as down-to-earth as can be.
Thats the thing about Sam Jackson tho he can be in anything and make it good.
George Lucas wanted Tupac to play that role of Windu
Really ? Lol that’d been wild asf
Michael Amaru Blanco no Tupac wanted to play it and George said no because he was very popular at the time and George didn’t want that in the movie.
Michael Amaru Blanco actually...it was originally supposed to go to Paul Reubens
Exorcist 3 is a criminally underrated film. Very scary, and surprisingly funny.
Imagine the clones army were all Samuel L Jackson
MACE WINDU: "I have had it with these motherfucking Siths in this motherfucking Saga!"
Mentions Geroge Lucas @ 2:46
Thanks!
Love him as Mace Windu, Nick Fury, tarantino roles but he's iconic to me as Frank Tempeny
Fun how Samuel L. Jackson's appearance on Made in America is probably the funniest and best part in the whole movie!
"WHO THE FUCK IS THIS ASSHOLE?"
Samuel L does the coolest interviews.
Samuel is 72 years old... Let that sink in, I genuinely thought he was in his 50's by now.
Love these snippets with actors. Thanks for sharing!
One of my favorite movie's from Samuel L Jackson 187.
I love everything I see this gentleman in. This has been over the years one fine actor and even a better person .An individual with class and intelligence .God bless you Laurence Fishburne .I'm just playing ,Thank you Mr. Jackson.
Nice to hear from a great actor that doesn't take himself too seriously!
A lot of people don't like the movie Sphere but I loved the concept. It's one of my favorite Scifi movies.
i haven't seen it but have you read the book? i haven't yet but at some point i plan to
theylied1776 First half was great, it just lost me after that.
@@rolandofgilead43 i read the book! It is good Michael Chrichton stuff, I liked it!
Man I love Laurence Fishbourne
Not just A jedi he was cast as THE best jedi lightsaber fighter and one of the most powerful of all time. He even had his own unique ability and lightsaber
I look forward to seeing Mace Windu appear in the Mandalorian... you heard it here first. lol
Samuel L Jackson in Star Wars is unreplaceable. I really like him who he was in the films
Jedi Master Mace Windu and his purple lightsaber!! Can't be that!!!
Mr Samuel Jackson the man the legend 👍👍👍
Mace is one of most pivotal characters of the Prequels
Samuel is the man! So cool! Like you Howard, great questions! Your awesome Robin 🌹
Seems like a nice guy
squidatsea super racist though
The simple mention of Fabio is comedy gold
This is so weird: I’ve never seen exorcist 3 but I had a dream a few nights ago that I was watching a movie with sam jackson in it and all his lines were overdubbed
“Have you ever turned down a movie that turned out to be a hit?”
“No”
Larry Fishboure punching the air right now
"I was shooting a spike lee movie" sheesh, those really were dark times in his career.
The talk show was TFI Friday hosted in the UK by Chris Evans (not to be confused with the actor who plays captain America).
He was great in the "Hateful Eight"
Fascinating insight from one of Hollywood's most diverse actors, Sam the Muthafukin Man Jackson.
Hes had a couple of diverse roles but for the most part he plays the same typecast in every movie.
Samuel L. Jackson born 1948.
William Jonathan Drayton Jr. aka Flava Flav born 1959.
11 years difference to play the Dad.
sounds legit.
but seriously though Samuel L. Jackson looks fucken young for a guy in his 70s
while Flava Flav currently looks like he is in his mid 70s
I hope now that Tyler Perry has that incredible movie lot that Samuel makes some legendary movies there !!
Samuel Jackson has earned more money cumulatively acting, than any other actor in history. Legend!
I wanted to see Steve Rogers’ reaction, when watching Star Wars (which he added to his “list”) when he sees Nick Fury show up as a Jedi Master.
one of the shining qualities of the prequels
This man is a fucking gem
"What this situation requires, young Master Skywalker, is a whole lot more of you shuttin' the f**k up."
He was amazing in Star Wars! They changed things but in a good way. It was meant to be. It made the stories better
Im so glad he didnt turn down Friday, I loved him as Smokey
Awesome hat
Snakes on a plane is best sam Jackson movie ever made✊✊✊✊
Vallejo!!!! I live in Vallejo. Samuel L Jackson was in my home town.
I love how he goes “ and George Lucas “.
Damn, Howard Stern is a good interviewer!
He is Very Likeable!

The guy can turn on that serious cop face when ever he once and the acting too...always like him...just a great pressence...
Good interview✅
He was awesome in Star Wars and I’m not a big fan of the franchise but I am a Lucas fan for sure
He must’ve been mad at Tarantino when this interview happened. He went to war with Spike defending Q and those roles clearly made his career.
no i don't think he sees it that way, QT yes did give him a career but he's worked with so many directors through the years that i think to him his work with other directors are on that list, Spike lee for example is on that list even though he never got famous from his films,

I love the Exorcist 3 it's one of my favorite scary movies these days.
THIS DUDE SAMUEL IS IN EVERY MOVIE HAHA BECAUSE HE IS THE REAL SHIT!
"when you're an actor you've got to act!"
I wished Eric the midget and Samuel L. could've met or have made a movie together.
I ended up being "A JEDI"... lol
Howard Stern always finds a way to amaze me. Without trying. Great Interview
Impossible not to like Samuel haha
Quite simply the coolest man on the planet.
Shouted out vallejo. I know where sphere was filmed.
He and Barkley are fantastic in the Capital One commercials, don't know why Spike Lee is in them!
I'm surprised, I've never heard Howard Stern actually speak and he sounds a lot different than I ever imagined.
I remember the talk show it was TFI Friday and the presenter was Chris Evans. Not Captain America.
I would've loved to see Macu Windu drop just ONE "muthafucka" in star wars
That’s a sick beanie
Thank god he didnt turn down that super bowl commercial!
mace windu is literally my favourite star wars character
TFI Friday with Chris Evans, I remember the interview.
Samuel L. Jackson in Mandalorian or other new starwars series. I want it
i love seeing sam jackson interviews, but there was only like 3 seconds of star wars talk in this lmao
Here we are 2020 and the Prequels are a fucking Gem
Samuel L. Jackson and Billy Dee Williams has to be the "Coolest Dudes" on the Planet!
I love his work ethics
