Lavender can make for a great bonsai. Plus you can always use the smell off cuts to help you relax!
My baby lavendar has a nice trunk on it too. Though it's still looking like a bush with a lot of compact growth. Not going to mess with that this year though. Just gonna leave it be

The bones are pretty cool. If it buds back prolifically, it could make an amazing shohin flowering bonsai.

I don't exactly since I only recently aquired it, but I'd guess several years old, at least, based on the trunk size.
What is that gravel/soil?
It's a combination of ~60% turface (Fuller's earth), ~30% pumice, and ~10% perlite. Really, it's just a mix of stuff I had laying around.
