That was hair dye for the character to show the psychological trauma he suffers since basically every day he gets shot. Had Dan Blocker lived he would have been Little Joe would have been pale white by 74 after he survived being cannon'ed, gatling gun'ed, and blown up by dynamite.
All that and no antibiotics! My Dad used to tease his mother for worrying about Little Joe ("They never kill the star, Mom, he'll be fine next week."), but we may owe her an apology. 19 episodes in 1 years is an awful lot of times getting shot.
1:01 how the hell he survive that lol, shot in the back with a shotgun lol. It's tv of course though, realistically the cartwrights all would have been dead before the end of season 1
Little Joe is lucky! Luck never runs out for him. Little Joe has more lives than a herd of cats. And, not to mention how many times he got beat up in fights, hit over the head with guns, etc. He's a walking miracle!
Yeah the A-team makes you realize WHY we lost in Vietnam when our special forces can't hit the broadside of a barn. But they could pop a tire going 60 mph in a moving van in the country everytime.
By the way... What about the episode where he gets drafted as sheriff or marshall in some town? Didn't he get shot in that one, facing down the bandits at noon on Main Street or something? Or was that just part of the hallucination/ghost story? (The others found him at the end of the episode, lying in the middle of the street in some ghost town that had been abandoned for years, clutching a sheriff's badge in his hand)
That was Twilight Town. They wanted him to be sheriff to replace the one that had been killed and he agreed in the end. He wasn't shot in that ep, was just dehydrated from walking through the desert. 👍
I'm trying to find the episode where Little Joe gets shot and Ben carries him off. I have Googled wverything and it's like that episode doesn't exist. Does anyone know the name of the episode?
S.6 Ep.26 "The Trap" 😊 (been searching like a fool for hours because noone in the comment section seemed to know so here you go! Don't want you to go nut like I did 😅)
Now I'd like to see a collection of all the times Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke got shot! I think he got shot about 4-6 times per season on a show that lasted 20 years.
At least 20 times... at today's medical cost it'd be $50K in surgery and hospital bills for each gunshot... that's over a $Million in health care cost...
@@ljgirlcochise9283: Yep and during the Civil War such injuries often led to sawing off a limb to stop the infection... antibiotics were still decades away.
@4:23 Look Ben I don't even know why you call me. What is this like the 7th time? Both lungs, his guts, his butt, his back. I used to saw men's limbs off in the war for one bullet Ben, just one. Your son just bounces back without so much as an infection. @5:56 Up to like 9 times by that point, probably just thinks God wants him to suffer. @6:46 Well Ben it's been like 10 times, he's traumatized at this point. He goes outside he catches a bullet in his view. @9:04 Okay at that point it's just how the locals bore sight their gun, just find Little Joe and fire. Notice how well the makeup effects were as well: intentionally dying Landon's hair to show the psychological trauma of being shot that many times. @10:37 Landon originally wanted to just choke down a bullet for this scene but TV censors plus the NBC executives felt the show was down to him and Hoss so that was a no go.

Little Joe has better healing powers than Wolverine from The X-Men.
"Joe you got shot in the liver!"
"My liver got blown out 4 episodes ago. I'm fine."
And this doesn't even include all the times he was used as a punching bag too. 😅 Poor awesome Little Joe!
And joe fought back
1:54 - Hoss: He got shot in the shoulder.
Ben: ...........AGAIN?
But he got engaged even more times!
Well like little joe says he’s a lover not a fighter
It’s a miracle how he always bounced back. 😂😂
After being shot so often they sent him to "The Little House on the Prairie"
and got shot there two more times
This explains "Jonathan Smith" in Highway to Heaven.
When he drinks water, there are spouts all over.
Right in the middle of the Ponderosa 🤣🤣🤣 Hoss laughs to Heaven lmao
They should do a movie with Matt Dillon and little joe
All part of the great acting of Michael Landon. ❤️❤️❤️
Michael Landon with a beard is weird.
Teenage werewolf
Too bad he couldn't have pulled through like that in real life!
He died so young. Cancer is a killer.
His body should look like swiss cheese by the end of the show
How did Hop-Sing get ALL those Blood Stains out of Little Joe's Green Jacket?
Was it an Ancient Chinese Secret? lol
I like to think he had a closet full of them
I definitely liked it better when he had short hair
Yep, I agree.
Michael Landon's hair started turning gray a lot sooner than I thought. He must've dyed it for years when Little House on the Prarie started.
That was hair dye for the character to show the psychological trauma he suffers since basically every day he gets shot. Had Dan Blocker lived he would have been Little Joe would have been pale white by 74 after he survived being cannon'ed, gatling gun'ed, and blown up by dynamite.
Right in the middle of the ponderosa... hahahaha
UnCaged Eagle Yeah, that was when they didn’t say stuff like ‘but’ or the other word on television!!
And little Joes’ face when Hoss laughs at him!!😂
Lol the scar tissue in those shoulders.😂
Damn! He got so much lead in him he could’ve been a pencil
It made all the girls cry! He was the heart throb!
Little Joe is a whumpers heaven!
He got shot more times than Bonnie and Clyde did when they were ambushed
Joe has to replace his arms every week.
Wow! The video was well spliced together. Thanks for posting!
little Joe my favorite
And me too
All that and no antibiotics!
My Dad used to tease his mother for worrying about Little Joe ("They never kill the star, Mom, he'll be fine next week."), but we may owe her an apology. 19 episodes in 1 years is an awful lot of times getting shot.
21 times in the whole 14 seasons, so a bit more spread out than that. 😁
Dang being Little Joe Cartwright was a dangerous profession
1:01 how the hell he survive that lol, shot in the back with a shotgun lol. It's tv of course though, realistically the cartwrights all would have been dead before the end of season 1
Both he and Matt Dillion are superhuman. They both shot and face death too many times.
Yeah but Gunsmoke was boring yourself to death for 40 minutes for a gunfight at the end where Bonanza would get trigger happy anytime.
can you be unlucky and luck at the same time? yes, you can get shot more than anyone, but survive.
LOL these characters are immortal....as long as the show is popular that is
Little Joe is lucky! Luck never runs out for him. Little Joe has more lives than a herd of cats. And, not to mention how many times he got beat up in fights, hit over the head with guns, etc. He's a walking miracle!
His luck runs out when it comes to women though.
Ojala la suerte la hubiera teñida en la vida real
Cowboys were tough back in the good ol' days.
You had to be.
@@jrewing1512 Especially Little Joe, man's a bullet sponge.
Must be a cat with 9 lives
5:31 It's Hitch from The Rat Patrol!!!!!
Not me realizing this video isn’t even halfway over 😭😭😭
I remember the third time, I watched that scene when I was 11, but years later I never knew he got shot many times
They Wore Bullet Prof Vests That's how smart those Cartright's can be...
Great montage. You just missed out A Ride in the Sun. :D
Title is accurate. This is all I have to say for now.
The original Whump.
Little Joe é o cara, trabalho MARAVILHOSO tudo bem feito.💞💞💞💞💞.
I only speak English,
but I feel you ❤️
Aww…… it’s only a flesh wound .
He took a gunshot, for every woman that died on the ponderosa
💥 💃🏽 💥 🤸🏽♂️ 💥 🏃🏼♀️💥
9 lives and 100,000 cigarettes later 🚬
America had better healthcare in the 1800s. Everyone took you in and no credit card needed.
Micheal Landon!
@BeforeMyTime
When the episode titles roll, could you please add time stamps of when Joe got shot in that episode by the episode?
Why doncha just watch the eps?
I believe the "A Team" holds the record for most walk aways from being shot at and in auto accidents.
Yeah the A-team makes you realize WHY we lost in Vietnam when our special forces can't hit the broadside of a barn. But they could pop a tire going 60 mph in a moving van in the country everytime.
Adoravel litlle joe.💖💖💖😍💖🌹
Dont like seeing Little Joe (Michael Landon) get shot so many times lol.
That right shoulder must have a lot of scars 😂
Little Joe has more in him than swiss cheese.
What episode was after the episode where Adam shots Joe?
1:34, where he's shot from the wagon, is from The Boss
My brother's keeper
*shoots

Yeah but they were rich they could afford it, they owned like a 1/4 of the state of Nevada anyways.
