Totally agreed. I'm from Asia and have no idea who she is, but all the US TV series seemingly unable to stop mentioning her, thus I look her up and found this video and still have no interest in her whatsoever.
In 3rd Grade they asked us to choose a celebrity to be and I chose Oprah; her grace touched me even then and is one of my influences today ❤

Oprah Winfrey was one of the first people I ever searched online for, back in the late 1990s. Before I heard about google, on Altavista.. I couldn't get any results because I thought her name spelled Opera. lol!

Oprah Winfrey Rejects Lev Leviev and Israel Boycott NGO
Executives at O, the Oprah Winfrey magazine, refused on Monday to receive a small group of activists accusing Israeli diamantaire Lev Leviev of involvement in human rights abuses in the Middle East and Africa.
Representative and activists affiliated with Adalah-NY, an advocacy group focused on boycotting Israel and Israeli products, sought to meet O executives at the magazine's headquarters at the Hearst Corporation in Manhattan.
The non-profit group said that they chose to focus on Winfrey after she wore Leviev's diamonds on the cover of the May 2015, 15-year anniversary issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.
Adalah-NY said in a statement that it had sought to deliver to O executives a letter signed by 5,600 people calling on Winfrey to publicly distance herself from companies owned by Leviev. However, executives from O apparently told the Hearst Corporation mailroom and staff to refuse to accept the letter, which included allegations that Leviev’s companies’ were connected to human rights abuses in Angola and the Palestinian territories.

Nope. The Oprah "effect" won't work anymore in this kind of political situation where the celebs have even helped the division wider. Oprah could won Obama over presidential election because she still had the show which was pervasive to every household in America, including the low-middle class. But with her OWN company, it marketize the prevailing popularity of Oprah Winfrey Show into a paid subscription which that such pervasiveness and persuasiveness of "Oprah Effect" have been diminishing. Today, Oprah is no more the "host of the world". She's now just a part of the usual elite. Hierarchically distant, exclusive, and condescending.
