This game has a great rule book and is extremely well done. Some have complained about the font size but the printing is so dark that I have no problem and my eyes aren't that great. I love how you feel the inexorable pressure of an implacable enemy.
Font size was problematic with my copy, but I was able to print out a normal font size copy from the PDF thankfully. The cards on the other hand are pretty terrible, but sleeved they were much better. For some reason I think my copy was one of the earliest, with the poor cards and tiny font rules. Not usual to get games in this state from Blue Panther, but it still works. :)
White dog does indeed have a "large font" version of the rulebook available for download and printing, and has since I first looked at this game a couple of weeks ago. Yeah the small font is a bummer but it may have come from the printer that way. I'm a little surprised that the cards are just card stock, even more than the rule book. The rule book...eh, I need glasses to read pretty much most things anyway so not a huge concern for me. The cards are a bummer though. I really hate those card sleeves things.
Yea, I was bummed by the cards for sure but sleeves are an option for cards you're not crazy about. In this instance, I think the sleeves are a requirement since these cards need shuffling and cardstock ain't gonna shuffle well. lol I appreciate your dislike for them, not everyone likes sleeves. I have a drawer full of sleeves that I use for games I want to protect or am forced to sleeve. Thanks, I did download and print the rule book from their site but no one should have to do that with a brand new game. The rules should come printed in a readable format out of the box and it makes it even more disappointing and frustrating when the correctly formatted rule book is available as a soft copy. It should have been in the box like that, IMO. For a $25-30 game I wouldn't be as annoyed but for a $61 game, it really annoyed me. In this case I wouldn't fault Blue Panther. They make games for WDG, Hollandspiele, Schutze games and their own, and they print the files they are sent. So this one is on WDG.
Watching this again as I'm finally getting the game to the table The last solo game I have and then it's 45 plus two player games hopefully I can get all done this year...yeah sure. My copy is a zip bag version. I can't find anywhere where it says what edition but the font is a decent size and it's 28 pages for the rule book. I need to buy more sleeves. Last solo game? Sounds like you need more solo games my friend! lol I'm confident in you, that you can get them all done this year. ;) I'm happy to hear that you got the newer rules, meaning the regular size font and not the microscopic font. lol I was able to print a new rule book that I downloaded form the site which had a normal size font and that will make a huge difference for when I can finally get to this one in earnest. More sleeves are always a good thing to have in your bag of tricks, especially for solo games where cards get shuffled or handled a lot. Thanks for your Preview of this game, you saved me £65. I had a choice of Solo games to buy, but limited cash. This one lost out based on the cards, rule book, & map legend.

The cards, well they are just not good as is IMO. That's why I do these videos, to help people see what their money is paying for.

I'm not sure if you accidentally got a pre-release version of the game or maybe White Dog watched this video and made some changes, but I just got my copy of the game and my rulebook font size is a lot bigger than yours and the cards in my game are nice, expensive looking professional cards, not the pointy-ended cards I see in your unboxing. :)
Thanks for updating me with that information Jamey, I appreciate hearing that WDG has apparently corrected those issues! Maybe they watched the video and made an adjustment to it? If so, then I'm pleased to hear that they listened and took the appropriate steps to fix things. My copy wasn't a pre-release version, I bought it after it was released to the public so I guess I just had the misfortune of getting a lesser quality production. Same here, Jamey. I got the game today and the components are better than what Moe experienced. If anything, Moe's review has probably made them review the quality of their components against the price they charge.
I'd heard that too but also heard that was just a rumor and was false. Never found out if it was or not, guess I need to get back to that book I started! lol
Solo, so it's opting for the abstract style which I think will work in this instance. Lots to track in the game with the morale and supplies, AAA etc. All makes sense in a siege, so it's fitting for this game I think. Glad you liked the video and hope you found it helpful. I do them so people can get a better view on a game and see if it's something they want to buy or pass on. :)
I already printed out the rules from the website, which actually did clean up the tiny font size that you see in the video. As for the cards, I sleeved them and I'll keep them as is for now. I'd considered contacting them about them but then just figured to heck with it, I'll go with what I've got. :)

This is print on demand, which does come with a higher price than standard publishing. That's likely why you're seeing the higher cost.
