NEBA DJBT Youth Open - 6/29/24

This past weekend, Colin & I travelled to Chicopee, MA for the New England Bowlers Association DJBT Youth Open. He bowled on a 48’ challenge pattern.
We’ve been working in practice to get him to relax and throw the ball with confidence. He had a lesson with Jimmy Clark (Bowler Builders Pro Shop) where we talked about bending his knees more and staying down through his finish. I reinforced that in our practices.
This trip turned out to be a good confidence builder for Colin. When he threw the ball confidently, he looked awesome! We made a poor ball choice to begin within (I thought there’d be more friction outside than there was) and waited too long on ball changes. That combined with some tough splits and a few missed spares kept him out of the top of the leaderboard. But overall he looked very.
We’ll have one more practice before Junior Gold. If he throws the ball confidently and we make good ball choices and good adjustments, it’s going to be an exciting week.
