    Thanks Jeremy, great video. I had another conversation today with a Vistana salesperson from their Orlando office. They were eligible to sell Westin Flex, Sheraton Flex, Marriott/Abound points and various Westin developer points. One thing I can say definitively is that this merger looks to be beneficial to all but a bias towards Vistana owners especially if you feel that the Vistana properties are better. August 31 was their last date for current price levels. October seems to be the date for launch. All else looks good.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I had heard they were still selling Sheraton Flex in Orlando and at Sheraton Broadway Plantation in Myrtle Beach, but I wasn't aware they were still selling Westin Flex there. Thanks for the info. I do think there are benefits for Vistana owners with the additional resorts and Marriott resorts will probably be easier to reserve out of the gate as they seem to be indicating that Westin & Sheraton availability may be hard to reserve. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks...we've been owners in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina since it was part of the Embassy program 20+ years ago. This merger with Marriott is taking FOREVER. We were first told about it and promised that it would be "coming soon" in 2019! 3 years later we still don't know what our StarOptions will be worth. (BTW - I don't see the link for the conversion rates that have been reported by others.)

      THe link is in the video description labeled "Vistana Abound Club Point Conversion Tracker".
      I agree, the conversion has taken forever. I suspect the situation of the last couple years slowed them down and they probably wanted to wait to roll this out as sales started to recover. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you, Jeremy. Extremely helpful as always. Your second point quoted Marriott as saying that resale VOI's purchased "through an authorized resale agent" could be enrolled in Abound. What do THEY mean here when they say "an authorized resale agent"? Do they mean, for example, a resale week -- regardless of how it was purchased -- that was then properly authorized back into the Vistana system through the purchase of an additional VOI from the developer? In our case, we purchased an SDO True Platinum on resale this summer and then authorized it back into the Vistana system through the purchase of a Coral Vista fixed week/fixed unit VOI from the developer, also this summer.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An authorized agent is just that. Just someone that Vistana has authorized to handle resale transaction, like an approve resale broker. Generally this is put into this type of verbiage to cover all their bases, but in most cases they don't really even have any authorized agents.
      Since you re-qualified your SDO true platinum, both that and the Coral Vista would be able to participate in Abound.

    Thanks for your work! My big question is what will be the options if any to enroll mandatory week resales after the Aug 9th cutoff.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suspect if you buy a mandatory resale after the August 9th cutoff, there will be an option to enroll but it will require the purchase of a bunch of Trust Points direct from Marriott. That is what they currently do with Marriott resale weeks after their cutoff dates.

  • @jeremyschaefer709
    @jeremyschaefer709 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the analysis. Curious about multi VOI week ownership. We would have a reduced annual fee on additional VOI weeks; will this apply still or will Club Dues be cumulative per week owned. 🧐
    Also, curious on your perspective Jeremy: we purchased another resale WKORV that closed in June. Vistana conveniently didn’t transfer title till after the 8-9 deadline. Is this good or bad? Should I try to press for the resale to be included as a pre 8-9 VSN enrolled VOI?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Club Fee is for all weeks/VOIs owned. The only thing that determines the amount is the Abound Owner Benefit Level. So the more you own, generally the more you will pay. But you won't pay one amount for the first week and a separate amount for the second week.
      As to your other question, that isn't something I can answer yet. I am working on seeing if I can get some answers as to how that might work and how it will work for resale mandatory owners in general since the information they provided is somewhat ambiguous. Thanks for watching!

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No word yet on when Harborside will be added, just that they look to add it in the future. The good thing is that you can still continue to use StarOptions to book there. That won't change.

  • @JenniferJames-gz4dk
    @JenniferJames-gz4dk ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you this is very helpful. Do you know if we can not pay/opt out of paying the Abound annual fees if we're not going to use it this year and then pay it next year?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. If you opt out, you are out of Abound and the only way to get back in is to pay a very high $599 re-enrollment fee. The thing is, the Abound annual club fee isn't new. You paid this last year, it was just cheaper. The Abound Club Dues simply replaces the VSN fee. I don't know your Owner Benefit Level, but the fee for most only went up by $60 for the year. I have another new video on the channel that talks about the Club Dues fee. Thanks for watching.

  • @kathyrust1884

    Thanks, - very helpful. I am still a little confused about Star Options. Will they now be Club points or will they continue to exist as is? Also, I am Chairmen in MVC, but also own a 2 bedroom lock off at Westin Maui - wondering how they will combine?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      StarOptions will remain as is. But you can elect your two bedroom Maui unit to Abound Club Points. Once you elect, all the points could be used together from any points you have with Marriott. Since you are already at the highest status, nothing will change with that.

    • @karenclemes6657
      @karenclemes6657 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are Vistana owners able to elect conversion to Marriott club points at the various levels as shown in your chart even if we don’t own or purchase Marriott club points? Our salesman said we had to buy into Marriott to do this.

  • @lesleyhanrahan6343
    @lesleyhanrahan6343 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Can you do a video to show which is the best usage of ownership points to book hotels or airlines. I am a Vistana owner. Is it best to convert Staroptions and use Bonvoy points or Club Points to book hotels or airlines? At a glance, the 'exchange rate' seems awful. As a Vistana owner, it seems we have lost a lot with this conversion to Marriott.

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately those 'cash exchange' type options have a very poor conversion rate. I call things like buying airline miles, Bonvoy points, hotel stays, cruises and tours 'cash exchange'. This is because Marriott has to use cash to buy the cruise, tour miles or whatever else you use your points to book and they then take your points and convert them to reservations in their properties and rent them out to cover the cash cost they paid out to get that trip for you. So they are taking a risk because if they can't rent out enough of inventory from your points, they lose. Though they usually see a pretty good profit on these.
      It is just the reality of how these work. Your best option is to always use your StarOptions or Club Points for timeshare resort reservations. Second best is to exchange through Interval International. You may however be better to rent out Abound Club points to another owner for cash and then use the cash to book the hotel, cruise or tour...

    I am trying so hard to understand all this. I just purchased Sheraton flex vacation club points yesterday. They did give me a brochure on Abound but absolutely no information about it. The brochure is mainly pictures lol. So I am unsure what abound is: is it a way to earn points after you make reservations/vacations? Is it something you have to convert with II ?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you bought Sheraton or Westin Flex, Abound will be a method that allows you to elect Abound Club Points to reserve into Marriott properties as well. Right now you can only book Sheraton and Westin resorts with Flex. Hope this helps & thanks for watching!

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will still be able to book in the VSN network of properties with your StarOptions. There is no need to use Club Points. I understand that if you own both Vistana and MVC, you will only pay the Club Fee one time. We are in the same situation and only have the Club Fee being billed with one of our Vistana ownerships. We haven't received a Club Fee invoice from MVC. At least not yet.

    If I buy abound points on the resale market will I have access to everything on Vistana? This is what a broker recommended. At first I was offered resale Star Options but I was told I wont have access to Abound Marriot resorts. So that is why I was offered Abound Points instead. Do abound points give me access to everything on Vistana?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, resale Abound Club Points work exactly the same as Abound Points bought direct from Marriott. I have a video talking about it here. Though it does predate Vistana integration; th-cam.com/video/NxI9w7z3H78/w-d-xo.html
      Keep in mind that Marriott charges a $3 per point initiation fee ($3000 minimum) along with a $300 owner education fee.
      However, for access to Vistana, owning Vistana may be more beneficial. Vistana resort inventory in Abound may be limited, at least for a few years, until the program is really rolling along. Certain Vistana weeks and resorts may always be hard to book with Abound Club Points. Buying a mandatory Vistana resale week can sometimes (even often) be a better option.

    Can you please do 1 video for people who are owners in both?

  • @bcwisely
    @bcwisely ปีที่แล้ว

    I was at the Nanea on 8/30 and had my sales presentation as an existing owner on 8/31. The rep had a link to convert your current Vistana contracts to club points. I am currently a 3 star but would convert to Presidential according to this link we used. I was only about 1100 points away from Chairman. I thought I had that link but can't find it. I spoke to a Vistana rep today and she told me that she doesn't have that link yet, but she could see that in the Abound system I am slated for Executive. She asked her supervisor if I need to fix that now or when it goes live. They said to wait, that there is nothing they can do now. Jeremy helped explain why they have me as Executive, and that is because 3 stars = Executive. However, if your contract points convert to a higher level then will qualify for that. I am assuming that they have not taken the step to convert our Vistana points and move those that qualify into the higher level. The sales reps were all trying to make sense of all this new information as well, we spent most of our time trying to figure out what it meant. I learned more from this video than them, even though they were really trying to help.

  • @karenclemes6657

    We are Vistana owners and just attended an update at the Sheraton Kauai Resort. We were told that trading between Vistana and Marriott club will be limited to legacy owners and therefore limited. To get access to the full Marriott club products (clubs, cruises, vacation homes, tours), we were told we need to purchase 1000 Marriott club points for around $15k. Is the limited ability to use Vistana for Marriott Club true? Is the rest of this true? One big advantage we see of purchasing Marriott is that we own a Week 52 (Christmas) 2 bdrm at Westin Kaanapali. When we bank this in Vistana, we are credited no extra value for Week 52, but Marriott would recognize it as 8100 club points if we buy into Marriott and elect Marriott for that use year. We signed the contract but have 10 days to cancel, so we are still deciding if this is worth it.

    • @karenclemes6657
      @karenclemes6657 ปีที่แล้ว

      This purchase will also move us to Executive and Platinum in Marriott. With the 13 month booking window for single days or more, will we be able to book good Marriott clubs like Kolina or Frenchman’s Cove?

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no need to purchase anything to be able to participate in Abound. You won't be limited in what you can do in Abound without a purchase. Your purchase of 1,000 points was completely unnecessary and shame on the sales person for telling you that you needed to buy just so they could make a sale.

    • @karenclemes6657
      @karenclemes6657 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much. Your videos have been a lifesaver! If we elect into Marriott in any given year, can we use club points for clubs, cruises, vacation homes, etc., just like Marriott owners? And can you confirm that we would get the club points they quoted us (8100) without buying additional Marriott points? Finally, it sounds like we would be at executive level, without purchasing more points. THANK YOU!

    • @DestinationTimeshare
      @DestinationTimeshare  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karenclemes6657 From all the material that Vistana ha provided, there is no additional purchase necessary to participate in Abound. Looking at the information I have, it looks like a Week 52 2BR lock off Island View/Ocean View in Maui gets 8,075 Club Points and that would make you Executive in Abound. You would be wise to rescind your purchase. The only reason to buy is if you think you would want more points.
