What helps one learn Greek is to have a Greek speaker to talk Greek to all the time but if you dont have that then it is extremely difficult. Some say you would have to go to Greece to learn Greek better but when I was there Greeks only talked to me in English because My Greek was not that good. I can speak it but with a limited vocabulary, so that was no help. Either you talk to them in Greek only or non at all (they dont care to help you), plus you have to have a very good memory or you are out of luck. These thing are something language teachers do not tell you.
The good thing about talking to Greek speakers is the messages you receive from them. We acquire language when we understand the messages we receive. When we understand what we hear and when we understand what we read.
Immersion into Greece while learning Greek will be helpful only when you reach an intermediate level. Earlier than that will not help really. You need to find resources that are interesting to you and listen and read in Greek.
Speaking is the result of language acquisition, not the cause.

Another thing that I like in Mackenzie are ice cream shops. All my life I was thinking that the best ice cream in the world is in Italy, but also Makenzie 's ice cream shops are absolutely gorgeous - with soooooo many flavours that we don't have in Latvia and I like that it is possible to choose if You want an ice cream made from sweet cream or yogurt or sorbet made from juice. Could You please teach us how to order in Greek one scoop/ two scoops/ three scoops and to say if I want it in a waffle cone or in a paper cup? How can I ask someone in Greek what is Your favourite flavour of ice cream?
My favourite ice-cream is the homemade I make. I like all flavours except the classic chocolate flavour!
Dear Elena ❤ I like to have my morning coffee in Mackenzie beach in front of the sea in Γρηγόρης cafe, but my vocabulary isn't enough to order what I want in Greek. I would be very happy if one day You could make for us a video about how to order Cyprus coffee in a coffee shop properly. I always order double Cyprus coffee without sugar with a glass of water of course which is normally served together. But I always ask to serve my coffee in a ceramic cup to have it in place, because if I don't ask for it specially they serve it in a take away paper cup and I really hate to drink coffee like this. What is Your favourite coffee shop in Larnaca and why? I love Γρηγόρης because every morning at 5 a.m. I go for a walk to see the sunrise and they are opened from 6 a.m. This café feels very Cypriot for me, because early in the morning there are only Cypriots and I hear only Greek language around me without any English so it's a very nice and cozy feeling ❤
That is beautiful tp kmow. Thank you for sharing. I don't drink coffee at all and I am not a cafè person so...I don't have a favourite coffee shop. I used to go to the ice-cream places in Mackenzie but I don't eat any refined sugar anymore so that's out of my things to do! 😃
