Yeah and that singer they have now doesn't come close! Foreigner without Lou Gramm is not Foreigner! They need to change the name of their band! I feel the same way about Journey!
@medicmick Your are 100% correct. Majority of the concerts are on TH-cam and Mick in nowhere to be found. Guess he found out that he wasn't invincible after all.
And, the stamina, range, pitch, stage presence, one of a kind sounding voice from clean to distorted, perfect timbre and range. Yeah, I said range twice. Do you think this guy had backing tracks or pitch correction live ? A vocal monster that brought it.
Lou sings like he's singing for his life. The emotion just screams from every word of the song. He puts every bit of energy into his music. Lou, no one can replace you, there will only be one Foreigner, that's the one with Lou Gramm. You seem like like a very polite, respectful man in all the interviews I have watched. You're a class act, and thank you for all the beautiful songs you wrote and co-wrote. Love you Lou Gramm.
LOU'S VOICE IS SO REMARKABLE IT HOLDS YOU IN A TRANCE YOU JUST CAN'T LOOK AWAY. HIS PERFORMANCE WAS PURE MAGIC. WHO IS LIKE HIM TODAY? I LOVE LOU GRAMM FOREVER
Yeah, it's simple awesome to see and hear Lou singing with so much passion! He is an authentic guy and he always gives his best. I love him and he's my great idole.
Lou's voice, along with the chemistry of the original 6 is what took them to the top. `Mick's ego and greed chased Ian, Al and Ed away. Lou has overcome massive health battles and deserves to be in the hall of fame as one of the all time best.
Lou Gramm is Foreigner. Even though the songs are great, the band is just another good, solid rock band, nothing out of the ordinary. Lou cannot be replaced.
True about Lou ! But i have to give some credit where credit is do.Kelly Hansen has done a remarkable job replacing Lou ! But in saying that i sorely miss that voice !! Lou was the best !! I was at the concert when he announced that he had a brain tumor!!I was crushed when he announced that!! Thank God that Lou got thru that horrible ordeal, and is still with us today!!
@@steveforlasto1067 what concert was that? I'm annotating and adding pictures to one copy of Lou's autobiography (I'll get another signed and keep it undamaged) and like details of whens and wheres. It must have been a horrible shock to all in the audience that day! That Lou is alive and reasonably well these days - though he surely plays down his everyday struggles - is a mercy.

@Steve Forlasto Johnny Edwards did a good job replacing Lou back in 1990-92 . Lou didn't have any health issues at that point , Lou was at full power in his singing at that point . Kelly Hansen also auditioned for replacing Lou in 1990 but the band chose Edwards over Hansen and Marc Free from King Kobra, which , uh, Edwards also fronted after Marc Free. Edwards also fronted Montrose a decade after Sammy Hagar. If Lou didn't have the tumor in 1996-97 and the disagreements with Jones brewing again in 2002, Hansen probably would never have gotten the job. Fate is impartial but has its own benefits towards people.
I met Lou years ago. Still keep in touch with him. When he is in town. Lou always makes sure i get tickets and makes time for me. When you see him. Tell Lou "Eddy from Southern California says Hi!"
Totally agree! He carried the band through fuck ups from rest of the band especially during That Was Yesterday. Lou never fails to deliver. Truly owns his game and is phenomenal as always..🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
After the first song Lou settled down, his adrenaline was pumping at first. Probably playing Japan for the first time, ect, ect.after that he slowed it down and sounded outstanding.
I went to their Live "Foreigner Live in Japan, 1985". At that time, I got a autograph (with a message) from one of Foreigner's staff. The message was "Waiting For A Girl Like You". I was very happy. So, When I listen to this song, I feel like this song takes me back to the 1985.
I was fortunate enough to see these guys and Heart on a concert at the stadium at Ga Tech somewhere in the late 70's. Cheap trick was the warm up group and not very good, but these guys came on and Lou just mesmerized me. I simply could not believe a singer could be that good live. The group sounded great. Heart came on and they were incredible as well, but Lou's performance was the shining element in the concert that day for me, and that's saying something when you're up against the Wilson sisters who are formidable in their own right. But Lou just stole the show.
If God were to create the perfect Rock singer, it would definitely be Lou Gramm, what a voice! He had so much charisma and energy, you can’t help but focus your attention on him and forget about the other band members!

Lou Gramm should have been a star right up there with the people considered to be the greats of rock and roll. He deserved much more. He is Foreigner no matter how much Mick resents it.
I'm guessing Lou is partially deaf towards the end of this concert and he's probably setting his tempo through the vibration in the floor. Man he had to be hoarse for a week after these performances. He left it all out there for the audience! Great voice, lyrics guitar riffs.
I agree Lou is an absolute legend but the hate on Kelly Hansen is somewhat insane. This is not 2023 Lou Live or even Lou live since health issues many years ago. He can't do a rigorous tour for the last few decades. Hansen has always been respectful about Lou and the catalog of songs and how lucky he is to sing them. He has helped keep Foreigner catalog alive for a younger generation and helps sell the catalog of Foreigner which Lou benefits from financially. Hansen is also a solid front man and interacts well with the crowd and the people keep coming back. I could understand the hate on Mick Jones because there has been a narrative cast on Mick that he is the bad guy based on I Want to Know What Love is song royalties even though I'm sure there are 2 sides to the story. However when Lou had health issues years ago it was unfortunate but at that time I seriously doubt Mick was just going to retire and end the band especially once the internet era hit and the band's popularity was revived again. Very similar to saying Neal Schoon and Jonathan Cain should have just retired Journey once Steve Perry left. I'm the biggest Steve Perry fan in the world but I understand especially after how big the song got after Sopranos finally that those guys in Journey have to keep the band going and I'm sure the royalties every year have been great for Perry for Don't Stop Believing.
