This is a darn good franchise, and The Dark Knight is just generally regarded as one of the best films of that decade (and for damn good reason!). And Michael Caine as Alfred is just someone we could all use in our lives.
I feel like the dark Knight hasn't aged well for me. Like it's still damn good, but I just can't call it great anymore. I think that's because the writing is pretty uneven. Great for the character moments and a great overall arch, but the beats that make the overall arch happen don't really stand up to scrutiny. The sum of it's parts is greater than the individual parts if that makes any sense
The actor who played Dr. Crane to this day during his scene with batman when he got gassed still amazes me. The ways he acts with his eyes is absolutely amazing I really buy the terror and to me the way he finds a way to convey that terror with his eyes and a few simple words is top acting
Batman’s “No Killing” rule is meant to be a self-imposed limit. Despite what a lot of media might say, Bruce knows he is not a perfect being. He knows that if he ever kills, he can never trust himself to know when to stop.
He also has respect for the law, even if the police and lawyers in Gotham don't measure up. As he says in this movie, he's not an executioner. No one invested him with the right to take a life.
The thought of Batman stopping to grab some juice and a muffin before jumping down into the bat cave has me in stiches. I love how your brain works Mr Video, that's what I'm here for!
One thing to note before the next film, the actress for Rachel changed and it throws ALOT of people off when they first watch it. It is the same character, just a different actress. Great Reaction by the way!
@@justindenney-hall5875 I don't doubt that lol but Google says she was working on other movies. Maybe google is wrong but not anywhere does it say she was pregnant. But it's not a big deal anyway just found it funny since she made a huge mistake.
Batman has been around for almost 80 years so he’s been through a lot of incarnations, from dark and brooding (like in this movie) to light, colorful, and downright colorful and goofy. If you want to see Batman at his goofiest, check out Batman: The Movie from 1966, starring Adam West (the mayor from Family Guy) as Batman. You’ll also recognize The Penguin as the same actor who played Rocky’s trainer, Mickey.
"I'm not going to kill you...but I don't have to save you either!" "It's not just your name sir! It's your father's name! And it's all that's left of him!" My favorite lines of the film.
I love the "it's your father's name" line but the "but I don't have to save you" line really seems out of character. He isn't directly murdering someone but Bruce has always aimed to capture villains because it offered them a chance at redemption hence him not killing truly psychotic and evil characters like the Joker.
I've always thought the line Caine delivered telling Bruce that his father let with him the "most precious thing in the world" to protect was a good one.
It's funny that the actor who plays Joffrey in Game of Thrones is also the little blond boy that Batman saves near the end of the movie. I can't think of anything else he's been in but it's definitely two iconic things.
When Ra's says "you burned my house down and left me for dead" I think it's more because Bruce literally did that to the guy he thought was Ra's. Great reaction as usual man, can't wait for the Dark Knight reaction
That’s right. Bruce left who he thought was Ra’s (DECOY RA’S) to burn in the fire and chose to save Ducard (REAL RA’S). Ra’s would naturally be a little miffed about the whole situation.
So the reason Batman didn't have the antidote on him is because Lucius Fox had to make more. So Batman went out without it because 1. It wasn't finished yet and 2. becausde when you take the antidote you are set. You wont be affected by the gas. Love your reactions and Im soo happy you're doing Christopher Nolans Batman. The next movie is also better than this one!!!
This is one of the greatest movie trilogies of all time. I cannot wait for you to see the other two, you will absolutely love them man, loved the reaction as always!
It's been a while since I've watched this movie and I forgot how great this movie is. This trilogy really spoiled superhero movies for me because you just don't see this anymore. This is a legit "film" made with a director's vision that transcends the genre. These comic book films these days, while enjoyable, feel like movies made by a studio checklist. They are micromanaged for the biggest audience possible and have an absence of passion and creativity. It's why The Dark Knight won't be topped anytime soon.
Your whole life about to change with this trilogy. Be ready. Those last two lines define the essence of Batman: “I never said ‘thank you.’” “…And you’ll never have to.”
At 8:10 when Liam Neeson's character said it was Bruce's father's fault, I assumed he was saying it to provoke his anger - not that he necessarily meant it literally. He was saying to to see if Bruce would lose control - something he is not supposed to do under any circumstances if he is trained well.
Mostly but I also think he was saying it was his dad's fault because he knew what Gotham was and wasn't able to protect himself. And if I remember correctly his dad was trying to save Gotham.. .and as we find out later they don't think that's possible. So basically by trying to save something that they don't feel should be saved he brought about his own death. He's saying Bruce's father was misguided and that is what ultimately caused his death
Honestly I agree, though I wouldn't find a use for saying it to Bruce's face. His father should've known better than to lead his family into some poorly lit back alley with no form of protection. For all Thomas' goodwill, he only saw the poor Gotham through a window, and trusted a city he didn't know. In that moment Thomas was too toothless, moral though he was, to do anything. What's hard is to have teeth and still have the principle to decide when not to use them.
10:36 It was a mob hit for testifying against him, the person who killed him was working for Falcone That’s why she was like “Hey Joe, Falcone says hi”

Not sure if you know this but this movie is the beginning of a brand new Batman trilogy directed by acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, probably the best director of (t)his generation. The first movie is Batman Begins (2005) with Ra'as al Ghul as main villain, second movie is The Dark Knight (2008) with Joker as main villain and the last movie of the trilogy is The Dark Knight Rises with Bane as main baddie. I am always unsure which one I prefer more. Heath Ledger is insane, but so is the whole third one. Action fullstop, amazing antihero, and an insane end to the trilogy. Just by the "artsy" factor I guess the second one is to be prefered (go Joker!), I personally do love the third one more, too. But I understand how people say #2 is the best. Personally, watched the Dark Knight Rises a LOT more because I enjoy it more. One of the few movies I can just go back to and still enjoy it. LETS FUCKING GO, possibly the best trilogy in all of movies, next movie is stunning, really pay attention to every detail in these. Not a single scene is unimportant. edit: you must watch the next too
while i agree that ledger was great as the joker, for my taste, begins was the best of the three and tdk and tdkr gradually devolved script and pacing wise..... i always feel like people tend to overlook the glaring flaws of those movies because of the budget upgrade and ledger's great performance... dazzled the eyes but numbed the brain... plus, bale's batman voice really started to get on my nerves 😜
@@stefanforrer2573 Pacing-wise, Begins is best, but I still love The Dark Knight more just because of Ledger's performance. All the Joker scenes are gold and a lot of the Batman/Wayne scenes are slow and pale in comparison. It does have a satisfying ending true to the title, but could easily have been called "The Joker" instead of "The Dark Knight" so I agree.

IDC what the poll results say, you have to hop into Band of Brothers, brother. Based on the actual interviews done with the survivors of Easy Company, it became basically mandatory viewing in the 101st while I was stationed there. We follow the legendary unit from training through the end of WW2. Unlike 'The Walking Dead,' this show doesn't disappoint the viewer the farther along you get.
Been watching your channel for almost a year now. You’ve been an important part of my relaxation. I come home from work smoke and just relax/enjoy your vids man. I wish nothing but the best for you. Also this series is awesome I hope you love them.
Having grown up with the older Batmans (all the way back to reruns of the Adam West TV show/movie), I don't enjoy the serious take on Batman. I like my Batman fun and with a little bit of goofiness. Though I do enjoy Dark Knight purely for Heath Ledger. Would love to see you continue with the older Batman movies (Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin), because they are a lot of fun if you don't take them too seriously. If you can find Batman 1966, it is about as silly as it gets.
The wayne foundation honcho with the white hair is Rutger Hauer, one of the greatest B-movie heroes and main antagonist in the original Blade Runner film. Batman Begins, good good stuff dude think you'll like the storytelling in this one. I'll see at the end of the video I guess lol.
Great reaction. Keep them coming 🖖
David Boreanaz, Henry Cavill, Joshua Jackson, Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Billy Crudup, Hugh Dancy, and Josh Hartnett were considered for Batman.
Jake Gyllenhaal would have been weird in this series
Should have been boreanez
Cillian Murphy had an audition as well. Pretty cool seeing the footage.
Armie Hammer too
@@GeneralMBison I was just thinking that it would of been interesting to see him in the role. He's got the right build for the role
BAHAHAHAHA! I wondered if you'd recognize Joffrey! LOVED your reaction to that scene!
cant wait for the dark knight
‘BATMAN, KILL HIM BEFORE HE GETS TO GAME OF THRONES’ ☠️ Ded. 🤣🤣🤣
This reminds me, you need to do Inception some time. Same director and a ton of the same cast. One of the best movies of that decade.
And then watch TENET, which is terrible but I love with all my heart
Uploads been on fire , keep it up homie
LETS FUCKING GO, possibly the best trilogy in all of movies, next movie is stunning, really pay attention to every detail in these. Not a single scene is unimportant.
edit: you must watch the next too
Oh, you're going to LOVE The Dark Knight. Fantastic cinematography, sound, visual effects...everything.
The beginning of one of the best trilogies ever! The acting, storyline, darkness puts it above the typical superhero movies.
here's hoping the new Bat-Movies can hold themselves to this trilogy's standard.
Niiiice, excited to see you hit the sequel for this. It's seriously one of the best sequels of all time, a rare thing for 2nd movies.
The second film in the "Trilogy" "The Dark Knight" is BY FAR the best Batman Movie IMHO, and you will get introduced to my favorite "Joker"
while i agree that ledger was great as the joker, for my taste, begins was the best of the three and tdk and tdkr gradually devolved script and pacing wise..... i always feel like people tend to overlook the glaring flaws of those movies because of the budget upgrade and ledger's great performance... dazzled the eyes but numbed the brain... plus, bale's batman voice really started to get on my nerves 😜
Bro....you just got an appetizer of a full blown Batman meal!!! This Series is sooo good!! The Dark Knight has to be next!!! Awsome reaction!!
Now your talking bro!!! A film that most people can enjoy!!!
It’s been sooo long since I’ve seen this movie I forgot most of it. I enjoyed rewatching it with you. Can’t wait for dark knight, one of my favorite movies of all time.
The best superhero trilogy ever.
This is my favorite of the Batman series. Very dark and serious.
Me too. I'm a sucker for an origin story and this movie did it just about better than any other. Also didn't take itself quite as seriously as Dark Knight but was still nice and gothic
The Batman Trilogy is 🔥🔥. Dark Knight is the best of the Trilogy, but Batman Begins is underrated. I think it's a great movie.
I liked rises myself....domt know why do many hated it
@@deeznuts8886 I like it alot too.
I actually prefer Begins to Dark Knight
Batman Returns? WTF? It doesn't take part in Nolas' trilogy!
@@insanidadeEspelhada lol I meant Batman Begins
Dude hell yeah, I was just thinking someone needed to start the Dark knight trilogy, please do all three movies Leo, they're iconic!
I watched the whole thing for the first time a few months and was not disappointed! It's a fantastic show, along with The Pacific
@@amandacogger3075 me too. Can't believe I waited that long to see it. Fantastic show.
@@davidkymdell452 glad I listened to all the people who said it was worth watching
Been watching your channel for almost a year now. You’ve been an important part of my relaxation. I come home from work smoke and just relax/enjoy your vids man. I wish nothing but the best for you.
Also this series is awesome I hope you love them.
Keep up the good reactions man, and you should check out neighbors
Neighbors with Seth Rogan? Yea thats a funny fuckin movie!! Good call!
@@ColeManTheBarbarian yessir I been commenting it for awhile lol
I'm crying happy tears. I LOVE this Batman trilogy.
'Bruce, your to young to be falling in wells'
Wait.... when exactly is the right age to be falling in wells?
I wondered the same thing 😅
I am soooooooo excited to see your reactions for the next Batman movie!
Next one is even better!
First one!!
incredible trilogy, especially the second one! lookin forward to you watching them! sending love
I've got it on DVD and Adam West just kills me 🤣🤣🤣 holy action hero batman
Lmao yea it’s the exact opposite for me😂 I can’t stand a funny batman
The Batman's history wasn't ment to be fun or goofiness (In the commics) But I dig what you feel xD
Adam West's Batman will always have a place in my heart. I used to watch the re runs when I was a kid.
The wayne foundation honcho with the white hair is Rutger Hauer, one of the greatest B-movie heroes and main antagonist in the original Blade Runner film. May he rest in peace and may you watch some of his movies. He was also the physical inspiration via Roy Batty from Blade Runner, for Bryan Fury in the Tekken games. A very significant cameo in this movie...
