    I’ll never forget the day I learned my sunroof drain holes were clogged. Left the house and first time I pressed the brake the entire roof was filled with water and dumped down the back of my neck. Of course the shock caused me to press the brake harder which poured even more cold water all down my back and into my seats!! Blow those drain holes out y’all!!!

    I'm dealing with this now myself. It's the pollen season, and this past week it rained hard for days. My mercedes C240 wouldn't start, but all lights worked inside and out, as well as the radio. I had it towed to my mechanic who showed me what you just did regarding the clogged drainage. My computer was submerged! I took it out and I have it home with me in a bucket of rice and will return it to him in a couple days. Fingers crossed!

    have 2 german cars with same issues... drainage either front or back. front procedure... get 1/8" tubing, or weed back line, and run it down the front of both holes in the front, they are BOTH strong enough to push any debris down, do it slowly, you dont wanna dislodge the hoses from their clamps, at one point you will feel resistance, thats typically the bottom... stop there. pour some water down and see if it comes out from the bottom, it may requires several attempts to dislodge any leaves, dirt. I have also tried going from the bottom up, but only after making sure water is coming out, you dont wanna push anything upwards. best method involves removing headliner, all 4 hoses will be exposed, and can be adjusted. as with everything else on these cars....periodic maintenance is required

    I have found a common leak that occurs on the roof of my 2004 Mercedes-Benz E-500 4MATIC Wagon right at the seal of the roof racks. It occurs on both driver side & passengers side. I had my sunroof seals as well as my rear hatch seals replaced thinking that would fix the issue. I went outside today during a torrential rainstorm to see if it worked. What I found was that the water was making its way straight through a small gap in the roof rack seal, settling on and finally seeping through the ceiling fabric.
    So, share with us your magic on how we can seal (or re-seal) the racks on the roof of the W211.

      Before I got my W212 E63, I had a black 2003 W211 E500 4 Matic 5.0 v8 saloon with the panoramic glass roof... Whilst I never got the leaks you had, I often wondered why the roof never opened !... Now it seems that the previous owner might have used black silicone sealant to seal the roof and stop any leaks from happening ! - Mercedes are great classy cars but their drainage system seems to be very poor and always prone to clogging...

    What he does not tell you is HOW TO CLEAN the drains. Title of video? Naaaah
    Spend some time under the hood at the firewall. Look for where the water has been running down. You'll see leaves, pollen, trash, debris, dirt, black stuff. Don't be afraid of it, just start vacuuming it out. All of it. Don't damage the plastic pieces or suck up parts of the car. Clean out the areas that the rain water feeds into. Then look carefully down in the dark hidden areas where the water should keep going. You can shine a bright light into it to also to confirm the tunnelway. Find something non-sharp like some kind of plastic tubing that is stiff enough to penetrate the tunnel a long way but flexible enough to bend. Run it up and down and you may find you hit some clogged area and push it through. One commenter here did this and said water gushed out. When you free the clog that's what you may see. But you may not. Just try to run the plastic tubing down each drain area you can find. At least 2 in the front. Don't ask me, because I don't know exactly where they are. I am about to go look myself. But I have done this myself on another car before. Take the time looking and searching and you will find it.

      @@roberthalljr6789 hi Robert, I have found the fix and the source of the water drain. Open the sunroof completely and on the front right and left sides are 2 small holes for the water to drain. Since that area is never cleaned during servicing, all the mud and grime gets collected and clogs the water from draining down the pillar. Dam I've been experiencing this for many times to the point that it damage the electronics cables which it had to be replace with $800 dollars that's how bad it was. Now again it's happening. Not only is it getting into the car, but it also gets into the The trunk of the car and when I open it water spills out from the trunk covers that's how bad it is. Could turn on the vehicle after 6 days of that and let it dry a bit but still carpte are humid. Next thing I saw that the gasoline gage on my dashboard was knock put when it was working fine, now it looks like if the car was empty on gas, also one of the daylight lamp is out. Solving the drainage won't be a problem but these problem I mention is what worries me. Now, I don't know exactly how should I find a technician car shop that can fix this, I'm sure most of them knows how to deal with this problem. Hope I can find the right technician.

    I have 2007 Mercedes s550 (W221) and I am getting water in the trunk. Mostly on the sides where the amplifier is. I checked to make sure the tail lights were tightened as that was the only place I can see water would get into. Is there any drain holes for the trunk around on my car that you can directly me to?

    • @drudy7255
      @drudy7255 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Water can leak into the trunk in a number of places. Ideally, get into the trunk while someone takes a hose and
      applies water to the top of the trunk. You will see where the leaks are and then you can seal up the problem.
      I have a 1993 300sd and water was coming in from a few places. It would fill up under the battery reservoir which
      I vacuumed up until I fixed the leak. On the 1993 300sd diesel water was coming in from the tail lights. I removed the tail lights and replaced the tail light gasket with brand new ones ordered thru the dealer from Germany.
      I have seen prices from $14.00 each one, that parts place ran out so I purchased from dealer at $25.00 each.
      That took care of 90 % of the leaking into trunk. The other leak was coming from the backup indicators which are
      in the rear corners of the trunk and lift up about 7 inches when you are backing up. I resolved this problem by making two gaskets and placing them on top of the chrome pipe indicators and there is an adjustment that you turn to tighten the indicators which force them up an tight to trunk lid. This resolved the problem.

      Check the part under the windshield that snaps to the windshield on the bottom, sometimes it comes out and need to be replaced also make sure you have original Mercedes windshield sometime the after market windshield does not let this part snap in correctly and allowing water inside the car I also suggest that you check with your Insurence if this type of repair is covered by your policy.

    I have a leak in my driver side footwell in my 2010 GLK350. The dealership told me I need to remove the carpet, wash it with lysol to kill any mold and dry it out. Then while its out, look for either a loose AC hose or for a clogged sunroof drain. They think its the AC though-apparently the hose can come loose and may just need to be reattached. Any tips on where exactly that AC hose is and how I can get it exposed?
    Also- Any tips on how to remove the footwell carpet? Do I need to remove the front seat? Do I need to remove the acceleration pedal?

    • @MercedesBenzTechs
      @MercedesBenzTechs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Natalie Bonus if you turn your AC on and look under the car right in the middle below center counsel you will see two little paddles building up slowly from the evaporator if you have a way to lift the car up you will see two hoses right where the transmission is, if they both drop water out slowly then your problem is somewhere else..

    I think I’ve watched this video too late! I’ve had a leak drivers side for some time, soaks the footwell, the seat and comes through the electrics in the middle. Had the roof and windscreen sealed still made no difference. I now have no electrics on my fuel, clocks, Speedo etc :( this going to cost more than the cars worth right?!!

      Found it after removing the wheel well liner. It was clogged with leaves. Rinsed entire area under brake booster with water until it was flowing clean out of the drain. Should be good for a couple years now. This is for a W221 in case anyone else runs into this.

      Benz are built as engineering projects for Lexus to improve upon. Japanese simply licence the Robert Bosch designs with little competition. Either way Bosch wins.
      Luckily the C and E-Klass have slightly better quality! All the pricier models (S etc...) are genuine mechanic specials.
      Benz goes out of its way to ensure every single car system prematurely fails by design: A thru Z... clunky sunroof, wiper arms, goofy brakes, leak everything, camshafts made of soft metals, headlamp modules, SAM modules, etc
      The 30+ CAN-Bus software modules are defective right from the factory... causing countless safety warning faults and drained batteries...
      Fear not the star network is here... either $800 or "sorry could not reproduce" - You're not alone, enjoy this luxurious man made chaos until you skip 😂

      Total money pits. Same thing happened to my 2010 C300 4-5 years ago, causing damage to the drivers side fuse box. It was then repaired. Fast forward to 2020 now water damage seeping through the trunk causing damage to the fuse box in the trunk. Insurance company says it's a "total loss."
      So yes, very unacceptable - Mercedes Benz

    Not always the case.
    All Mercedes Benz model come with low quality seam sealer that cause leaks through all spot welded parts: roof, rear body upper panel to mention a few. These leaks cause major repairs such as having to replace. sam modules, ISM transmission module & tail gate motor to mention a few.
    Stay away from buying Mercedes Benz unless it is a classic Benz. They are built extremely poorly.
    I will dump my GL450 for next to nothing after spending over $12,000.00 in this vehicle.

      Did you try to find the reason for the water inside the car? Look at the bottom of the windshield, there is a plastic part that snaps in to the windshield, is it snug in? Are there any holes around the wiper arms that allow water to pass through into the car? Did you install aftermarket windshield? Did you make sure the drain are free of debris? There are so many steps you can take to find out what the issue is, don’t give up, Mercedes are good cars if taken care off professionally. Good luck
