Thanks for coming back to us, your reviews of classic BMWs is one of my highlights on TH-cam. I worked in a UK dealer in the late 80's and I loved these cars then and still do.
That was truly a machine, I live in South Africa and many years ago I owned an E23 735i which was unfortunately stolen and never recovered. Although I have owned many other BMW's and still drive BMW, I would love to own one of these again. My father also had an E23 733i which I drove a lot as well.
The E23 733i and 735i were utterly fine driving machines. I also drove my late Dad 's E23 733i, and enjoyed it, together with his 728i. If can find either an E23 733i, or a 735i, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
Firstly…as an Englishman, let me say how much I enjoy your ‘perfect’ English. I wish my compatriots had such excellent diction ! I drive a 2022 740d XDrive. It’s my 4the 7 series having owned 4 different shape ones, though not the one in the video. I honestly think this current one looks superb and will become a future classic. The performance, of course, is in a different league to the earlier models. Utterly effortless.
Such a pioneer in 1977! Along with the Mercedes S Class, this was the world's first car to feature an ABS system in 1978! Thanks for the video, next do one on the BMW E32 750iL, which was an even bigger game changer!
Arktik Blau. Hands down 😅 Did you know that all BMW series of 70’s and 80’s came originally with 4 then 5-speed manual gear box 😊. How thrilling that must have been !
Superb car, father had a 728i, loved that thing, looked amazing in a graphite black and inside at night was fantastic in soft red lighting from the dash
Safety zone, already tested in the 1980 316 in 1983. Works perfectly, can‘t imagine how much better it may be in the 7. our 316 hit a concrete aqueduct tube (the very big ones) with 120km/h, front-on, the swedish SARIS trailer broke his mount and flew 50m ahead, front-passenger only was „belted“, driver (no belt) 2 ribs broken, rear passengers, aside from shock and headache, nothing. Front came in towards the seat, but didn‘t reach it. Sure the car front was totally damaged, the engine still ran like a swiss clock, the rear was still perfectly straight. The good parts had long use with new proud owners. Very different and really bad were the 3 series around 2003. On a normal little contact crash at the front the 320d front passenger airbag has a peaky edge and that hits the eye of the passenger, if he‘s not during the crash fully backwards oriented (can‘t happen with such forces at play). Bad BMW safety design, bad arrogant ignorance by BMW in damage dealing and continuation of the most stupidest airbag cover ever developed for far too long. My sister now has a dead eye/replacement. Thx BMW! She was the rear passenger that was perfectly fine protected in the old 1980 316 crash. So if you want protection in a car, take old-school safety from Volvo, Mercedes and BMW, but 80s, not 2000s. Yes they hit hard, but the cages protect very well. Modern stuff is convoluted with dangerous parts and crumbling everything means you‘re sitting in a cage of meteorites flying around to hit you. BMW proved it.
And yours was - is? - pre-facelift, which, in my opinion was the pettier of the 2 versions of the e23. The nose of the face-lifted e23 was boxy and boring where as the original one was forward leaning and bold.
The older cars look so much nicer than the modern ones. And when driving at night, the orange dials are far less distracting than the multi-coloured disco lights of the new ones.
Bitte lassen Sie nie die Ersatzteilversorgung dieser Meilensteine sterben 🙏. BMW Classics muss auch für seine Kunden weiterbestehen. Habe selber e23, e32, e39 und e38.
Thank you for the great video, I own and regularly drive a 735i E23 and I see that your petrol gauge is in a similar position as mine regularly is 😂. Jokes aside the e23 is a head turner, kids love it when I drive to school in it..... And dads too
Thanks for sharing! As a Bmw fan since my childhood i was very happy and thankful to god to had a opportunity to drive a ‘86 745i Highline in Delphine metallic with grey whithegrey leather everywhere 😍 never forget it
In 1985 I was in my first year of secondary school and a senior girl drove one to school, it was silver with the black water-buffalo interior. Back then, to me at least, its most striking features were the electric seat controls with pictures depicting each adjustment, and the 745i badge itself. I have always wondered what happened to that car.

Fantastic! I wonder how many miles are on this 745i? I love the lines of the Euro spec cars with the nice tight bumpers. I have a very low mileage '87 US L7 (less than 6Kmiles) and with the interior leather everywhere, it is just amazing.
Damn, your E34 is freaking perfect! Always nice to see such a beauty in caretaking hands. I wish you hopefully a long time to come to keep enjoying it! 👌
Nice video but when you had manual of that car available you should activate Board computer after connecting battery to show how it works. It is quite easy. 😉 BTW my 745i is sapphire blau
I love all blues. And as much as I love my 2020 Alpine White Canadian spec M340... I would LOVE for it to be in Arctic blue. Love this video like all of them... but my favourite 7 is still the e38.
what a wonderful machine that reminded me of my early years growing loving BMW and dreaming of owning one until my father purchased the e21 arctic blue and that was it we were all stuck with the brand until now i just can't think of a car other than the BMW...
BMW needs to make classic part's. My 82' BMW 728ia there's no part's available or reproduction. At least Mercedes Benz has parts and reproduction available for their classic vehicles
My father used to have a brown (have forgotten the actual name, perhaps “Topas Braun”?) 730, bought new in 1978 and a 633 CSI in “Reseda Grün” from 1976. Am I right with the names?
Jungs, 1983 hatte der 745i schon den 3.4L Motor anstatt den älteren 3.2L. Ich meine, ihr wenn jemand überhaupt, solltet sowas wissen. Hatte übrigens mal einen 745i Highline.

I think artic Blue suits it like a glove!

i have BMW 730i E23 with engine M30B30...... prefacelit ... best car ever
My dad had this exact colour combination in a 728i, which I think he got in 1985.
Wunderschönes Auto…..
i found an abandoned euro-spec E23 733i with those headlights. sadly it seems they won't fit on a US-spec E23 front end without modification
I have a 1984 735iA here in New Zealand in Baltic Blue with the very same Pacific cloth interior. I will never sell it!

BMW group classic, could you please tell me what engine (if any) is currently in the Sandro Chia E36 M3 DTM prototype art car? Thanks.
