I love my 96 Arctic White convertible. A rare beast here in the UK. It's only got 47k miles and was originally owned by GM engineering test facility in Warren MI. Probably some managers company car rather than a test mule.
Lyle, my 92 convertible has that easter egg. Also, the tonneau cover button under the tonneau cover only works when the engine isnt running. The release buttons on the sides of the doors work when the engine is running.
My 1990 ZR1 had the baseball, hotdog, apple pie and Chevrolet molded into the fiberglass like that. I don't remember if it was right beside the drivers side rear speaker or inside the cavity behind the speaker box. I found it while I was replacing my Bose amps.
I just taught a guy last weekend at an all Corvette show in Charlotte about the switch on the door to open the hatch. He was amazed at what I did and asked how I did it so I showed him.
I always thought the light at the back of the car was to illuminate the ground behind the car. I never even thought about changing a tire at night and how nice it would be to have a light.
I actually knew about the spare tire light, only because I read the owners manual. I remember when I first learned about it, I got under my car just to see for myself.
I just learned that the lines of the C4 and the radiator tilted back 15 degrees escapes police radar until 1500 feet compared to the 3000 feet that radar usually works at.
I have a ‘94 Convertible with production date of 11/93, and it doesn’t have the buttons on either of the door panels for opening the tonneau cover for the top. Interesting.
Funnily enough that rare aux light underneath the car which you mentioned at the end was one of the first things I noticed about my 85 when I got under it for the first time.
The rear light is great at night when you walk around the car to see the ground. I always thought it was a great place for a light. 87' Z52, Red/Graphite. Love my car after all the things that I have done to fix it.
Awesome video Lyle! I didn't know about any of these secrets........wish my 95 pace Car had the hatch release on the door panel. All it has is a rectangular indentation in the panel where a switch would go.
The light under the rear of the car was also a feature on some C3's as well my 81 has it anyway and goes out with the dome light. Could be something to look into for a C3 video.
Sir. I'm really enjoying your videos. I bought a C4 1996 6 speed manual with the LT4 and Z51 suspension. I bought it from my brother who had her disassembled and rebuilt. Only thing I need is, tires, which I'm getting michelin pilot AS 4 next weekend and a corsa exhaust. Part of the deal is my brother does ant work I need if I buy the part. The AC is painfully cold. Torch red and, 67,000 miles.
Optispark was replaced with torqhead, coil and ECU. new clutch, slotted rotors ceramic brake pads. New window seals. This is essentially a new old car. Garaged it's entire life and even the seats are 85% from new.
Great videos. I just purchased a 1990 Corvette and was wondering about the center storage console it has a clip toward back and a verticle area in the back which I think is for a tire guage.
I don't know if you'd consider this an easter egg, per se, but the C4 had hidden wires prepped near the front of the center console lid in case you wanted to add an accessory there.
The spare tire light is excellent. Having a c5 for a year now and discovering all the things chevy has done for their car, I am not surprised. My only related problem is the lack of a spare in my car. I am working on a solution, that is simple and incorporates the roof holdown. I will drive much more relaxed when it is done.
