  • UPDATE 11/2020: Watch this video if you are still having trouble :) • Smart home - connectin...
    ----
UPDATE 1/2020: You can use the AP mode button in the new Feit app. Just press that and follow the general instructions in this video. Name the Access Point the same as your existing network and use the same password.
    ---
    Update 3/2021:
You can setup a hotspot with Windows 10 and you don't need to use a 2nd phone!
    support.micros... (Thanks Zach B)
    ******
Having trouble with a 5ghz network on your new Feit color changing light bulbs? Just setup a mobile hotspot with the same SSID and password as your real hotspot (making sure that hotspot is 2.4ghz if you can set that) and you'll be up in no time. Once your mobile hotspot is turned off the bulbs will connect to your real wifi network.
    Steps:
    1) Unplug home wifi
    2) setup hotspot on your phone that matches SSID and password exactly of your normal wifi
    3) connect your 2nd phone to the mobile hotspot
    4) reset the lights as mentioned in video
    5) your 2nd phone should see the lights and connect them to the hotspot
    6) Turn off the hotspot
    7) plugin your home wifi
    8) it should work without mobile hotspot being turned on now!
    A800/rgb
Sorry for the poor quality edits and voice over, but I hope this helps you!
Also works for TECKIN SB50, Great Value A19, Gosund, old wemo smart plugs.

I have an iPhone XS Max (software version 15.1) and 5GHz router and was able to easily connect a Feit bulb with one change to the set up procedure in the Feit app. In other words, I did not have to trick the bulbs in any way or conjure up a hotspot! Once in the app, get to the 'Add Device' screen with the animated blinking bulb. At the top right of the screen note where it says 'EZ Mode' and tap that. The pull down includes 'AP Mode' (no idea what that does) and 'Bluetooth'. Tap 'Bluetooth' and proceed to setup as instructed. Done. Exhale. Smile. It seems Feit heard the complaints and added this feature. Cheers!

    It works.
I didn't turn off my WiFi.
Simply walked away until my both phone could not receive WiFi then applied hot spot with WiFi name and pass.
The secondary phone (with the app) connected to my hotspot thinking is the WiFi connecting automatically.
So I walked back turn off and on the lamp while the % on the app was counting (even if the lightbulb wansn't flashing at the begining) and it worked.
This worked with LE lampUX ..
I tried for over 2 hrs ... With this method 15 mins and you're good to run.
    Thank you so much

Very clever and it works! You only have to do this once for setup of device and then it will connect to your regular WIFI connection. Most new browsers are mesh and are a hybrid of 5G /2.4G and there is no option to create a second SSID and thus impossible to set up with smart home devices. This is an awesome solution! I downloaded the device app on my ipad and connected to my iphone's hot spot.

Even using 2.4ghz this Feit App sucks and refuses to sign into your wifi. After 15 tries, including removing bulb from socket and reinstalling, blinking the bulb on and off till I was dizzy, deleting the Apps cache, restarting the App, etc...finally I got the damn thing connected. From there, the Alexa App breezed thru the mating process and the Dots control it fine. Most people wouldn't have as much patience. Have to wonder how many of these bulbs get returned.

    • @ScreenPrintR
      @ScreenPrintR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I agree. Feit needs to do a better job at documenting the information. Their bulbs have a different ip address. 71.x.x.x. Can't remember the actual number. However, it's key that our own wifi networks have the 2.4 ghz, and 5.0 ghz are split not combined. I had to have Verizon get in and make sure. They also made sure my wifi had the same name I choose not the default. Otherwise I'd have to go and reset all the older devices like Alexia, tv's etc.

Thank you, I have an iPhone. I had to make sure my network had two WiFi Networks, 2.4 ghz, and 5.0 ghz. Once Verizon split them I was able to connect the first light. The 2nd one connected as a default name and I than changed the name accordingly. Shared devices with my wife and that was a nightmare. You need to share devices to either phone number or email. Each device has to be the same. Than go on their phone and accept. Than go into messages and upload and/or view. What ever location you give, you have to go to the 2nd phone and click on that address. To get the right address on the first setup I had to keep clicking on the geo location until the address changed to our address not my neighbors lol. Thanks again.

I understand newer wifi routers are automatically switching between 2.4GHz & 5GHz seamlessly to optimize our wifi. But I cant imagine these routers cant be manually set to only 2.4GHz. Does your router or ISP have an App you can install? Usually to do things like monitor usage and parental controls...maybe there?
What about logging into the router settings with the login on the back of the router?
Maybe it's in the manual or the manufacturer has a FAQ?
Finally just asking the support departments?
Its probably easy. Or maybe I'm wrong and it cant be set to 2.4 manually, which is evidence that this world is based on greed and building products for market without thoughtfullness in the cheapest, fastest most profitable manner without considering the need of actual end users.

Or you can do this call your carrier ask them if the router modem you have 2.4 and 5 Ghz .. You have to ask them to connect both of them so they are bridged and ask for the names of your network...once that is corrected your phone should be able to pair problem fixed .. In my case I had one named the router name and the other was name5ghz. I've seen it where it was nqme2.4 and 5ghz had no name.. That will also fix your problem.

I tried to set mine up for days… I have them put away in a drawer. I think I will try again. This seems doable. My neighbors were concerned because my lights keep blinking lol that’s why I put them away in the drawer. 😂

I appreciate the video. Quick question. I’ve already installed 4 Feit light from Costco and successful installed them to my google mini!!! I bought 4 more and connected 1 to my Feit app, but I’m having an issue getting it to connect to my google mini. Any suggestions? Do I have to uninstall all other then reinstall all at the same time? Hope you can help! Thank you!

What I want to know is why did you say to turn off all your devices that shouldn't have anything to do with anything I can see maybe turn off your router but then how are you going to get Hotspot through your data? I guess that's how you would do it

I realize this is a year later.. but our devices have the ability to toggle between 2 .4 and 5 by choosing the necessary wifi network.. for example, My router lets you choose either the 2.4 and 5ghz bands separately in the available wireless networks when searching for a network. When I go to choose a wifi to connect to I have 2.4 and 5 as 2 different wifi availabilities even though they are botb technically the same wifi networm, just different bands. It looks like this: wifinetworkname-2.4ghz
Or wifinetworkname-5ghz allowing for the ability to choose the desired network band.

  • @NarayanaSarathy

Your method did not work for me. However in Eero Wi-Fi system you can temporarily make it 2.4 GHz by going to settings, and I could the connect the bulbs easily. If you have other Wi-Fi systems check if you can go to router settings and expose separate Wi-Fi’s for 2.4 and 5 GHz. And connect to 2.4.
