@@Snavels nicely recovered though. And that's coming from a drummer. Well done. Chick Webb drum breaks are not easily accomplished. Give the drummer his props.
@@Snavels I know. I was just being complimentary of him. That Chick Webb break is not easy and he kept that original tempo spot on. I just wish they had used guitar and not banjo. This is a late 30's chart. Banjo is not stylistically correct.
@@Snavels The chart was originally recorded in 1937. All the big bands had given up the banjo by then. Even Freddy Guy who played banjo with Duke Ellington originally during the Cotton Club era had given up the banjo by 1933-34. Fletcher Henderson had also given up the banjo in the 30's. Benny Goodman's Allan Reuss was completely on guitar by the Palomar Ballroom gig in 1935 that officially kicked off the Swing era. By the mid 30's only those within the traditional jazz renaissance of the mid 30's such as Eddie Condon were switching between guitar and banjo, and Eddie was playing a 4 string guitar.
BRAVO, Young Folks!!!! Bari. Player is my FAV! "All the Soloists were Excellent... As Well as the Orchestra! KEEP JAZZ ALIVE... Thank you Conductor, Parents and Teachers!" :0)
Gotta love the clarinet solo and quartet. It the best one compared to every other school. They actually sound like clarinetists instead of saxophone players playing clarinet.
@@jwaj I mean, each genre has its own fundamentals. You can’t just start doing a blues solo over Für Elise and still claim that you’re playing classical music.
Love how the drummer brought it back after loosing his stick
AND elbowing that mic
Im convinced the drum player loosing his stick was planned he handled it so smoothly
He got a bit in trouble, but you see he managed it pretty well.
DAMN that bari can tell a story!
so nice
Xander is an amazing player!
These kids are all spectacularly talented...
I felt so bad for the drummer though
Certain things make it easier
me
The drum solo oml
He definitely dropped his stick on purpose

As a Seattle native who played in jazz bands, I'm not surprised to see Roosevelt playing. Them and Garfield high are jazz legends in the area.
As a bari player, once i saw him going up to the mic i knew he was about to absolutely rip. Well done my friend, well done.
I'm really happy he dropped his stick. Because god damn he recovered so well.
Rhythm section holding it down
6:06 yes the demon in the backround. What a legend
He is thinking deeply about something...
he probably just WILLED the drummer to lose the stick
not out of spite, just cuz its funny

Gotta love the clarinet solo and quartet. It the best one compared to every other school. They actually sound like clarinetists instead of saxophone players playing clarinet.
Tenor and bari got some sick solos
FANTASTIC! YOUNG PEOPLE PLAYING THIS GREAT MUSIC AS IT SHOULD BE PLAYED! IT WILL LIVE ON AND ON THROUGH THESE GREAT YOUNG MUSICIANS!
There is no way a type of music “should be played” but I agree, it’s sounds fantastic

The 1 dislike is jealous of this band
Bro I need this on Spotify 😭😭
THIS HOW SUPER TALENTS PLAY WHEN THEY GET TOGETHER!
Fantastic playin' !! So fresh and vital !! I like the music auf the 1920s/30s very much, playing the music in Germany many times.
This is one of the best performances I’ve ever seen job well done
That tenor saxophonist killed it. He’s been listening to a lot of prez

Absolutely delightful!
As a bari player i loved it
The drummer is a juicer
Outstanding indeed!!!!!
This made me regret playing the flute
Flute jazz exists!
Try out the piano! Idk if your teacher allows this but you could practice learning it after school or something like that using a school piano.
@@queenelizabeth8145 I know this comment is old but now I’m going to be a freshman in college and I will be taking piano lol :-)

That’s a interesting trombone grip
I've heard stories of trombonists playing their trombones upside down because it sounds better apparantley

bruh why does it look like its going at 2x speed.
I don't understand why you would do that to the performers. The upload should be as performed, not sped up 10%-15%.
