You know, when you're enjoying listening to the music without even playing a game, from which that music is, you're understanding - this is an art piece, not just OST.
I do that with different ost musics all the time. From famous games like WC 2 and 3 and StarCraft to less known games like Slay the Spire. I often find great music pieces in games and I listen often to them even when I'm not playing.
@@manolgeorgiev9664 I wouldn't say that Slay the Spire is less known game but I am really happy to find that you like it's soundtrack as much as I do! My two favorites are Mind Bloom and Heart. You can check my playlist (Lion Art(username) - Favorite music) to find lots of cool music/OST from games/anime/movies. I will also check WC 2/3 (I played 3 but I didn't remember any OST, I will check on it) and StarCraft. Thanks for info!
this song is so iconic as it plays in the first missions. in the beginning I was so amazed by all this game has to offer and the music playing has been etched in my mind.
You'll notice the same phenomena in most media as it advances through the decades. Movie soundtracks are also boring and bland, pop music is boring and bland. It's more corporate, more formulaic, written for psychological appeal instead of emotional appeal.
Majority don't care about entertaining anymore, they are paid/eager to spread something else, either for greed or ideology. Dumb down the masses is their motto now a day, they already got enough money, they don't need people anymore = no effort.

The only reason people think old music is better is because they only remember the good old music, like this. There was plenty of shitty old music, too, but we just don't remember it anymore.
I believe the problem is that they try to hard, for example Starcraft 2, everything is a damn orchestra, which makes the battles feel "OVERLY!" epic and you just shut down the sound and listen to a violin solo instead. BLIZZARD! YOU ARE TRYING TOO HARD! Just look at the fantastic details in Diablo 3... and the forgetable music and gameplay...
i respectfully disagree... the only good music in wow was the one directly taken from warcraft 3. And honestly, except for a couple of the themes, I am less than a fan of those too.
