Maybe I understand. Immediately after finishing I wanted to enter the final dungeon again just to experience it once more. The battle with Krolem... it was *cathartic*. All the unsaid, meanings written between lines are given a mirror in the song, in how Kromer transformed into a form similar to Peccatulum Luxuria, embodiment of lust and many other details.
2:03 Realm of Darkness, I think this music explains the character's duplicity too well. It was more touching because not only did the melody sound good, but it also seemed to have a high level of understanding.
The way Mili divides this song into 2 parts really shows how much care and creativity they put into their song, and it portrayed perfectly the character of Sinclair from Limbus Company. Truly a phenomenal work!! 🔥✨✨
The "Realm of Light" and "Realm of Darkness" was forshadowed by the first offical Sinclair pic, that showed him standing between Light and Darkness. Peak PM.
I love how the text on screen during the fight isn’t what the character’s thinking, like it normally is during Distortion fights, but instead it’s the lyrics of the song. The Golden Bough has projected Kromer’s thoughts past that point. We’re instead seeing her desires and dreams on an entirely new level. This isn’t just her ideals, it’s the ideals of Nagel und Hammer, it’s the fear she strikes in Sinclair, it’s EVERYTHING she’s sacrificing for the Bough, and everything she’s become.
honestly reading the lyrics i think this is more of Sinclair's thoughts beimg reflected on battle. the first half talks about regret and wishes to stay in a live of paradise, all reflected in how kromer looks almost divine atop the mounds, having recreated the moment when sinclair first lost his innocence. the second part reflects him accepting his "fall from grace" and it's reflected in Kromer becoming a monstrosity that, despite everything, can be damaged and killed
@@maribelhandesu Yes, the whole philosophy of Demian was about reaching maturity, the symbol for it being a bird breaking out of its egg. "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. To be born one must destroy the world". The "world" here refers to Sinclair's world of innocence, the realm of light as he described it. He considered the world outside of his house as the dark realm and shunned it. Demian teaches him that the world is much bigger and can't be divided into good or evil. He could reach maturity by realizing that he will inevitably become a part of the world he considered dark and that no person can be purely good or purely evil. This realization essentially destroys his previous definition of the world he knew. Overall the song fits Sinclair much more with the egg being the most obvious reference
@@maribelhandesu I think that actually adds to what I said, seeing as the Bough was supposed to be awakened by Sinclair, and is likely still affected by his thoughts and emotions. It’s a ballad for the both of them, although verse 1 is definitely more Kromer and verse 2 more Sinclair.
God, that 3:40 part gets me EVERY TIME. I got literal chills when I heard this specific part in the game. Good shit. Thank you Mili and Project Moon for giving us yet another blessing of a song (and a vertical difficulty spike bossfight)
This music is really beautiful, and it displays the idea of "two worlds" perfectly. First half - "world of light" - is peaceful and constant. It offers care and warmth. Second part - world of dark - starts off romantically, calling with new, mysterious tones, but it quickly changes to reveal its true nature with sharp sound, visceral singing, fast pace, intensity. Stepping in the world of dark was a mistake, and you know, that it's too late, and you will never be like you were before, pure and lively. You are now forever stuck between two of these worlds Music is my passion❤️
Amazing song like always. The Dark part is as amazing as it was already portrayed ingame, but I love the light part lightly referencing christmas and purity, you can really tell Mili worked alongside PM to choose the theme for this boss.
This song ripped feelings out of me. Something as sacred as it was wretched. Deep, primal and ephemeral. A longing so frightening I wished it gone, yet cherished it too much to abandon. Also the beat was just really good. The vocals were also impactful as always!
This song is genuinely incredible. I’ve been listening to it over and over again since finishing 3-22. I just recently read Demian, and I was amazed to find that the Realm of Darkness half is filled with references to the book. For starters, the title “Between Two Worlds” is a reference to Sinclair’s mindset that the world is split between the good and the bad, and his struggle to find a balance in life. This is also portrayed in his initial Limbus art, where half of it is split into greenery and color, with the other half being grayscale and gloomy. It’s also referenced later in the song with the lines “Split, a sky, an earth, I fell into a crack”. “A touch, a kiss” is a reference to Sinclair and Demian’s relationship, in which they kiss at the end of the book (lmao), while “A distorted dream” references how the dreams Sinclair had were emphasized throughout. He would often have one very important one where he would meet with this motherly figure he praised. “A fruit, a sin, a holy mother” references how religion was a central aspect of Demian. Sinclair grappled with what he believed in and eventually stepped away from how the majority viewed religion. The holy mother part in particular referenced Demian’s mom, who was a central part of the story near the end of the book, and who Sinclair viewed as a sort of saint that guided him and he wanted to be with. “Listen up my broken child” Also seems to be a reference to her. On top of this, the religion aspect is also evident in the last bit of the song, which talks about rebirth, and mentions the holy land. “A birth, an egg, a freshly opened membrane” is one you can probably get without reading Demian because it’s also a metaphor present in Limbus. However it represents Sinclair being compared to a baby bird who needs to break out of his shell. It comes up again with “Breaking breaking breaking the shell, breaking out, oh break it now”. “An art, a wound, a sentient canvas”: in the book, Sinclair once attempted to paint a girl but ended up painting a figure very similar to his friend Demian instead. The canvas gets wet one night and in the morning when it’s dried, it looks exactly like Demian. At one point he also sends Demian a painting he made of a bird which had an inside meaning for them. Their special thing with birds is also referenced in the cover art itself (as you can see the many birds on it, which very much stand out), which also alludes to the light and darkness thing of Sinclair’s mindset with the “two halves” of the image where the character has light shining behind them while they shroud themselves in darkness. Those are just the ones that can be picked out easily without much thinking. There are clearly more, which I’m still figuring out. Overall, the song seems to be of Sinclair’s mind instead of Kromer’s, which is just fascinating (however, there’s room for an entirely different interpretation based off of Kromer and Carmen)… It’s a very amazing and well-researched creation. Give Mili all your love.
Great analysis-- I also recently read Demian and while individual lines definitely reference the book, I still think the combined narrative of Realm of Darkness is about Kromer, specifically her distortion. It's about her birth as a distortion, starting from "a voice, a twisted thought" to "a distorted dream" of a "holy mother", a mother who has infected and recreated her. Also consider "spinning the silk", "inside the warm cocoon" referring to Kromer's new butterfly-like body. I think it's even more commendable that the lyrics can be about Sinclair, if you know about the book references, but the overall song is still about Kromer, since it is her battle theme after all
@@k8eee Thanks for you contribution, I like this view!! I do definitely think there are Kromer bits, such as "I'm infected, I'm infected, you have invaded and re-created me" representing her view on what prosthetics do to people. I had taken the "inside the warm cocoon" bit as a metaphor for Sinclair sitting inside the egg, building up his new self and getting ready to hatch- but I really like the idea of it having to do with her new body in that second phase. What this all probably suggests more than anything is that Mili is very lyrically talented. Great stuff.
@@ac-gf4zt i think the best part of their lyrical genius is that "im infected" part can also be related to Sinclair with how Kromer influenced his thoughts and tried to make him into N corp fanatic that belongs to her
With spinning out cocoon and and sunny place lyrics also referencing his flashback where after Kromer killed his family he stumbled across lighted up street with Demian meeting him and how he cocooned himself after this situation.
@@Nyanvic not sure if it fits, but I interpreted the "I'm infected" line to be Carmen's influence spreading into Kromer from the light and the Golden Bough as well as the "you have invaded and recreated me" referring to Carmen's influence making Kromer distort. Also thought the "found a sunny spot, curled into a ball" was a reference to Carmen's conversation in Lobotomy Corporation about enjoying imagining herself as photosynthesizing when she lays in the sunlight
I'll always greatly respect Mili for making so much efforts into getting the context right for all of their works, they truly make music with love and passion and you can definitely see it with all of their contributions, they absolutely know what they're doing and while I never had any proof of it, I genuinely feel that they are equally fans of works they take part in as the people that made the works in the first place Love the song and Sinclair my beloved
I suspect that's part of why they've stuck with PM this much, they don't *have* to accept a contract, particularly extended ones like that do. There's a theory that they got hired for Ruina due to a fan video matching Lobotomy Corporation to Mili music, and the style of stories and theming meshed so well that they decided to go all in on it officially, and it's just all gotten even better from there.
First time making it to a premiere. This just makes me strive to be a better musician myself. Every song. Always. I respect everything made by this brilliant band more than anyone could really know. Probably more than I can possibly explain
1 limbillion views guys, we did it honestly this song is so unbelievably good that it makes me think there's no way they can surpass this in the future chapters (edit) I have committed a grave mistake in underestimating cassie wei and her band, holy fucking shit fly my wings is absolutely perfect and I feel like they personally made that song just to spite me for the SIN of underestimating them, what the fuck (edit 2) fucking hell lmfao mili won't stop upping themselves at all. compass is now my second favourite mili song second only to from a place of love (EDIT 3) this'll just become my personal log for whatever mili makes for limbus, BUT YEAH ANYWAYS ABOUT THROUGH PATCHES OF VIOLET!!! HEATHCLIFF WAS ALWAYS MY FAVOURITE SINNER SO YOU ALREADY KNOW LMFAO IT'S PEAK LITERALLY THE BEST SONG IN LIMBUS SO FAR. still hasn't topped from a place of love though. I feel pretty confident saying mili has a TALL order when it comes for surpassing that. (EDIT 4) Hero has dethroned From a Place of Love as the best Mili song after four years of uncontested reigning; at last, the "ain't no way they top this" loop has been closed, and my samsara is complete.
I don't know whether to be mesmerized or to shudder in fear looking at it. I have not read the book yet, however, if it's fit for the summarization: Demian is stuck between good and bad, he's depicted as some sort of a mix between that of an angel and a devil, which came in form of his wings that seems feathery/tendril-like outside, but are more bat-like within. His legs too are half humane and tendril-like, with visible veins that are almost beautifully grotesque looking! And him being the sun, the center of it all. Looking up, towards the birds in the sky... Symbolization of his yearning for freedom from both good and bad... Sorry, if it's too long and might come out as nonsense, I'm not fluent in English and just writing what I perceived from the art.
@@rezafebriansyah8620 Nah, I'm the same, at a glance I liked the artwork, though what made me dislike or be weirded out by it, is the face, oddly enough I think I would've been more at ease if there was no face at all or just the eyes.
The fact that the Lyrics showed up in the game as the fight was happening was so cool I loved it so much... This song is really good as well.. mili don't miss..
Who are you talking to right now? Who is it that you think you see? Do you know how much heretics I kill a year? I mean, even if I tell you, you wouldn’t believe it. Do you know what happens if I suddenly decide to stop culling heretics? A library big enough it could be listed as a star of the city will manifest and a billion people will get sucked into it. Gone. They cease to exist without me culling heretics and their machines. No, you clearly don’t know who you’re talking to so let me clue you in. I am not the one getting gripped, Sinclair. I am the gripper. A heretic opens his front door and gets nailed to the wall, and you think that of me? No. *I am the one who grips.*
Alway love it when PM and mili collab they really nail every thing about this song the boss, music and scene. This song is good both as a standalone and in game.
Every time the words "Ripples, A Well, A Stone" are said I start getting chills and my hairs stand on end, this song is so good at making me feel unease and awe at the same time I love it.
Genuinely in the running for my favorite Mili song to date. Something about this one just really itches my brain in a way I'm not sure I've felt before. Phenomenal work, as usual.
The Realm of Darkness lyrics seem to not only reference Demian but also the series as a whole, specifically the events of the previous two games. The weird thing is that it seems to be in reversed chronological order. I can think of two possible speculations: 1. Kromer is the one recounting visions she may have seen while distorting, she was already hinted to be able to see into the future/alternate worlds beforehand 2. It lines up with Dante and their theme of rewinding time (which is also referenced in In Hell, We Lament) *Library of Ruina* Lights (Library of Ruina's true ending) A star (The Library) A voice (Voice of the distortion) A twisted thought (Everyone's potential to distort or manifest E.G.O.) A touch (Honestly, no clue for this and the next line. Maybe it's about Roland?) A kiss A distorted dream (Angela causing White Nights Dark Days) *Lobotomy Corporation* Ripples (Seed of light succeeding, L Wing collapses) A well (The collective human consciousness) A stone (The Ordeals?) A multiplying desire (?) A fruit (Cogito) A sin (Rebelling against The City?) A holy mothеr (Carmen)

Wow, this song really nailed it! The lyrics hammer home such powerful emotions, and the melody has a gripping effect that keeps me gasping from beginning to end. The way it hammers its message into my heart is truly awe-inspiring. Bravo to Milli behind this striking tune.
The technical quality is here from both composer and interprets and it perfectly serves the purpose of sharing these strong and deep emotions. Also, Mili songs have their own identity, it doesn't look like anything else that I know. These are true artists. I can't even imagine how they could do better than that. 10/10.
I love how almost every song in the series returns to Her. She's everywhere now. She is the voice in the Well, the Dream, the voice and heart of The City now. She has infected everything. And for this, everyone needs to lament.
The juxtaposition between the first and second act was quite profound and truly a delight on my blind listen. That serene soothing tone against the sharp and violent vocals. A crowded choir to the introduction of instrumentation with a piano, alone. The pondering and wishful lyrics then met with usage of vivid imagery. Mili's 2023 is already looking promising- as always.
This song is something that cannot be recreated. It is absolutely wonderful. It is an axiome of music. Something that completely changed music how i know it. Mili are geniuses.
A mili song is like an experience of itself. The calm, choir voice that descends downward into this looming anticipation and dread. The choir doesn't join it making it seem like the holier presence in a decending beat. Truly a battle of good and evil within.
This one is slightly different to the other mili songs, as it is for a video game called “limbus company” if you want to dive deep into this specific part of the mili rabbit hole I’d recommend playing the project moon games
It's a whole different feeling listening to the music for the first time, with the context the game (and the book the characters are based on) provide Just for that alone, I'd highly recommend you play I'd go as far as to say listening to the song without contextual knowledge diminishes the song's greatness
That boss battle was so epic. The second phase song added onto the insanity, the desire, the twisted purity pounding in your ears as someone willingly gives themselves up for a greater cause, a greater meaning.
This is 10 months old- quite possibly longer given the game's release- but I've only stumbled upon it tonight. I wrote an original piece for a contest my job is holding, and the theme is "What Writing Means To You". I'm beaming from ear to ear as I listen to this on repeat, because genuinely, this song encapsulates a lot of my piece's words. It just makes me happy that no matter what, people are linked by what we create and our thoughts and emotions. Absolutely gorgeous vocals and story. Look forward to playing the game one day!! Much love from a long time Deemo and Cytus enjoyer. 💚

The way Mili divides this song into 2 parts really shows how much care and creativity they put into their song, and it portrayed perfectly the character of Sinclair from Limbus Company. Truly a phenomenal work!! 🔥✨✨

its a Limbus company.
The "Realm of Light" and "Realm of Darkness" was forshadowed by the first offical Sinclair pic, that showed him standing between Light and Darkness. Peak PM.

@@plinfan6541 hell yeah!
well the story is tied to lobotomy corp tho. so is fine.
Overall the song fits Sinclair much more with the egg being the most obvious reference
lovechar sighting detected
@@maribelhandesu I think that actually adds to what I said, seeing as the Bough was supposed to be awakened by Sinclair, and is likely still affected by his thoughts and emotions. It’s a ballad for the both of them, although verse 1 is definitely more Kromer and verse 2 more Sinclair.

Miliの、綺麗で美しいのにほの暗い音楽が大好きです
今回の曲もコーラスやハモリがとても綺麗で歌も美しいのに特に後半になるにつれどんどん不穏になっていく感じがとても好き
This music is really beautiful, and it displays the idea of "two worlds" perfectly. First half - "world of light" - is peaceful and constant. It offers care and warmth. Second part - world of dark - starts off romantically, calling with new, mysterious tones, but it quickly changes to reveal its true nature with sharp sound, visceral singing, fast pace, intensity. Stepping in the world of dark was a mistake, and you know, that it's too late, and you will never be like you were before, pure and lively. You are now forever stuck between two of these worlds
Music is my passion❤️

The Dark part is as amazing as it was already portrayed ingame, but I love the light part lightly referencing christmas and purity, you can really tell Mili worked alongside PM to choose the theme for this boss.

前半の神聖な歌声から、迫り来る慟哭みたいなテンポで圧倒されて終わった…。感情が追いついてないけど、とにかく最高です!!!!

Love the song and Sinclair my beloved
I suspect that's part of why they've stuck with PM this much, they don't *have* to accept a contract, particularly extended ones like that do.
There's a theory that they got hired for Ruina due to a fan video matching Lobotomy Corporation to Mili music, and the style of stories and theming meshed so well that they decided to go all in on it officially, and it's just all gotten even better from there.

Kaihara's artwork is fantastic. Beautiful illustration.
I don't know whether to be mesmerized or to shudder in fear looking at it.
I have not read the book yet, however, if it's fit for the summarization:
Demian is stuck between good and bad, he's depicted as some sort of a mix between that of an angel and a devil, which came in form of his wings that seems feathery/tendril-like outside, but are more bat-like within.

The Realm of Darkness lyrics seem to not only reference Demian but also the series as a whole, specifically the events of the previous two games. The weird thing is that it seems to be in reversed chronological order. I can think of two possible speculations:
1. Kromer is the one recounting visions she may have seen while distorting, she was already hinted to be able to see into the future/alternate worlds beforehand
2. It lines up with Dante and their theme of rewinding time (which is also referenced in In Hell, We Lament)
