    • @xyon9090
      @xyon9090 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      *Kurdman Pouyesh,* that is also starting to be the case for me. *No reverse Rashid,* really does make games interesting.
      When i'm in a mood for defense, I try to go Tigran Petrosian defensive style but not often.

    In the book "The Absolute Correspondence Championship of the United States Chess Federation 1976-2010" Robert Forbis is mentioned. It says he was born in 1958 and has played in some correspondence chess events including being part of the winning team in the 1992 Division I USCF Correspondence Chess Team Championship.

    The United States Chess Federation website has a Robert Forbis listed.
    He has been inactive since at least 1991. His last rating was 2032USCF.
    (About 1950 FIDE?)
    His home state is Illinois, probably Chicago.
    This site has 1 additional game where he lost to Margeir Petursson.
    chess-db.com/public/pinfo.jsp?id=3010458218
    This website has some scanned articles from 1974 which showed Forbis winning some prize money as a junior player in California.
    www.chessdryad.com/articles/ccr/V24N1.pdf
    (it also has a problem position where Browne found a novelty against Bisguier during the 1974 US Closed.)

    @2:18 In Tal's games, 'the queen has to move' is a premature assumption, it should be backed by concrete calculations showing why a queen sacrifice makes no sense in the position :) (Just kidding, it indeed makes no sense here. But I did consider Bxf7+ briefly when you said that there's no way to save the bishop from the exchange on b3 :))

    Agadmator, I am reading "Starting Out: The SIcilian". One of the first variations covered was the Yugoslav Attack. I played that with a friend and they said that the Yugoslav Attack makes the h-file very weak for Black. Does that necessarily mean that the Yugoslav Attack is bad for Black? Please answer and thanks a lot for your Tal videos.
    I was playing in Lichess Lonewolf and there was this one REALLY Tal-looking move, and I know that 99% of the Tal moves are winning and that was pretty complicated for me. So I just played that move and...... resigned in 4 moves :)

Or white have a move to refute this? its difficult to think that with two strong players in the board but i don't see how refutes that. (i don't speak good english so sorry if i made write mistakes)

    4:33 a variation you might have missed was pawn takes knight on D4 which leads to queen G3 check followed by Knight takes F6 causing defense against the checkmate to cost an entire rook with rook to G8 and then knight takes rook on G8... I'm a horrible player at chess but that's one of the reasons I thought the king move was so important lol

    • @Meverynoob
      @Meverynoob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh of course then if bishop blocks check on G7 pawn takes followed by knight to F6 checking the king and then pawn queens, leading to rook takes and knight takes and rook must take back to even out the material.
      This variation only adds one extra bishop to the total bill.

    In last part (time 9:50), instead of Rf3, white could play Qg5+ followed by f6 and Qg7+ or if black plays Rg8, then Q X h5+ / Qh6+ is a mate. Right?

    At 6:33 after the white queen takes the black knight, I was looking at black moving the h pawn right away, but then I noticed if he does that white can take the g2 pawn (also attacking the rook) and guard against the mate so Qg5+ is a great move that prevents white from doing that.
