Do you need to have a hard drive plugged in during this or could you just use a SD card?
I'm just wondering because my hard drive hasn't gotten to me yet.

Perfect timing, had to buy another Wii U since my last one I bought had a Broken SD card slot and broken usb ports
Have just upgraded my gaming screen from a 21" HDTV with a single HDMI, component, scart and S-Video inputs to a 28" 4K monitor with two HDMI ports, a 3.5mm sound output and a soundbar. Currently just have my PS5 hooked up, but I've broken my Wii U and pro controller out of storage so I can jailbreak it and emulate my Snes and Sega Tower of Power, etc, as well as have access to my GameCube, Wii and Wii U games. So a really good instruction video like this is very welcome.
Appreciate the straightforwad guides in the format: files to down load, setup SD, install the exploits, optimizing settings, install other stuff (games, utils etc). Easy to follow.

I literally just found the old charger for my WiiU, so I cane to this video to mod it. I haven’t gotten far because I am unable to use the TH-cam app on my phone because it requires a update I can’t get, so I’m using the browser version, which crashes a LOT. I’m grateful though

Hey scott! Great to see more wii u videos! I've never been able to get gecko codes to work on my wii or vwii, so i would enjoy a guide for that.
Also, I am able to play level and pipe randomizers in NSMBW if you want to showcase how to do that! (im begging for a video cameo, you can do it on your own if you want)
I've actually never used gecko codes before, so I'd have to research it first! And are you talking about riivolution mods for nsmbw?

PLEASE READ: If no games show up after following each step carefully, I've found a solution. In the games folder rename any "game.iso" to just "game". Hope this helps!!
Guys, Should I do this to my family's old Wii U? I'm sure since it doesn't delete everything off it will be fine right? 💀 I have already modded my 3DS, which was honestly really fun, and these tutorials always make it easy,

For the vWii Mod, you said the games had to be on your SD card but are you able to set it up to be on your USB Harddrive just like we have it setup for the Wii u?
i love my wii u so much(it’s genuinely greatest nintendo console OAT IN MY OPINION) and i would love to attempt homebrewing it but not only is my game pad dead(probably gonna get a new one soon) but i don’t even have an actual pc😞

I'm not modding my Wiiu until I get a spare laptop just for console's I had to fix my laptop 3 times because of my mistakes watch watch and watch until it sinks in before you attempt this I learn't the hard way

@nikeeair3619 I think when I was downloading and opening some of the files they went into the operating system of the computer somehow had 2 get Windows installed once the bloke I took it to didn't fix it correctly so ended up having to call geeks2u out to fix it and lost everything on my laptop

Super awesome video!!! I do have a couple of questions? Is there a way to store the Wii games and GameCube games on the hard drive and not the SD card? I assume you have a video showing how to setup nintendont? I am trying to make an ultimate game station for my boys. Can I setup Wiiflow in the vWii? I really liked how simple that was for my kids to find the games.

Great tutorial. Your guide mentions installing the Wii games to SD, but noticed you hooked up a USB harddrive. Can a single USB drive be used for both Gamecube, Wii and WiiU games?
is an external hard drive (usb plugs, it would be connected to the console) required? some people are saying that you can store wii u games on the SD card while others are saying that you need an external hard drive

30:26 i did everything right but when i reach USB Loader GX, it recognize my SD card, i also followed all the steps, but just now showing a single Wii games that i put into my SD card, i wonder what had happen, any help please?
When I was doing the Wii U part I forgot to take the game out of its folder then I put it into the install folder and it worked. Hopefully that helps

So, my dad basically hacked my WiiU around 2017 and it still has the homebrew launcher installed and the added games work, I really want to mod it myself to put aroma in it. Is it possible to do this tutorial on an already modded console like mine?? Thank you in advance.
it depends on the type of custom firmware your dad installed. If it was haxchi (the older version) you can simply delete the haxchi app and start over with this guide

I have Aroma installed on my hacked Wii U, but when I tried installing Homebrew Launcher from the Homebrew app store, the app doesn't appear in my system menu. Any thoughts on how to get this properly installed? Thanks!

Thank you for this guide, I was able to follow it and mod my Wii U easily with no issues! Is there a reason why you did not install priiloader in this video? Is it a necessary app to install on Wii U? From some online searches I have found that some people say it can mess up USB Loader GX so now I am afraid to try and install it.

Question when adding games to the Vwii can they be stored on the usb storage or the only option is the sd card?
eithehr or, but the usb must be fat32 and if you have an HDD it can be complicated

What exactly do you mean by complicated? In my setup I have a external hdd and I'd like to store everything there to leave maximum room on the sd for future transfers.
If its to much to explain in a comment it may be worth doing a video on I seen more people asking the same question.
@@seanworthburgess6868 complicated because you have to partition it with a program to have part of the storage as Fat32 and the other part formatted to the Wii u

Why when i got to the patched ios80 on the like in the docs it says (This homebrew application makes permanent changes to the system's NAND, thus, this application should be used with caution. (And generally, you should always use homebrew applications with caution!) should I download it even tho it says that?

Hey man don't know if you can help but when I go to install Yawn it's stuck in 3% and won't move the console is not frozen because the wiimote and bubbles in the background of HB Channel are still working not sure what I've done wrong
USB loader GX for vWii isn't recognizing my games even though I have the right files and correct folder names. Is it just because I'm trying to download too many at once?
If you are on Windows if updated t the latest version you can format drives/Dr cards to fat 32 if over 32gigabytes
Love your guide, everything good except when I used mario kart disc and copied it did everything like your guide except when I click from menu it telling me to update and then server cannot connect. Not sure what to do or go from here, any advice much appreciated. TY
I see HB as a plugin but can't ese the HB App Store on wii u icons to click on :(
Theoretically it could be possible to play any Wii game on just the gamepad if someone could figure out the coding. There's already an injector to use display Wii games on the gamepad directly but not all are compatible due to motion controls. But someone has figured out how to map inputs from the GameCube c-stick for Wiimote pointer inputs and shake the only issue is there's no way to use the tilt function with the gamecube controller. So hypothetically.. if you figured out a way to use that same method to map inputs from the Wii U gamepad control stick and found out how to map the built in gyro for tilt (or another work around by using a set combination of buttons to enable tilt or something) THEORETICALLY you could play a Wii game on the Wii U gamepad that requires a Wiimote using only the gamepad..?
