@@KevsterWilson hey, i must have missed it. So when do they play the full TOS theme? I rewatched the ending generic and its a medley of musics from the episode.
Lordy how I love this iteration of Star Trek! Nothing in the franchise's past has come close to Pike and his crew. Not only a return to form for Roddeberry's baby, but a redefining of the form itself.
I like how its modernized and feels a little more casual like TOS than stiff and serious like TNG, but also has the comfort and edge thet TNG had, while its shiny like more modern film, but doesnt go overboard on the shiny texture like Discovery does, and its not focused on action like the movies are. It feels like theyve really found a sweet spot both with this show and with Picard, giving Picard the more nostalgic dramatic edge, and giving this show the more comfortable light hearted living room feeling :D oh wow that was longer then i thought it was in my head
@@uncletrashero My love of SNW is that they've pulled away from the high-adrenaline action of Discovery which, aside from JJ Abrams' vision, was NEVER StarTrek. Even the Dominion war focused heavily on character development.
SNW is not shying away from breaking of the mold of the crisis of the week stories...or even if there IS a crisis of the week, they are handling it a bit different then most Star Trek Series.
Out of every show since TOS and TNG, I think Gene would be most pleased with this one. Though, I think he'd also thoroughly get a kick out of Lower Decks.
Would be interested in seeing some behind the scenes of the making of this episode. When Buffy did it, it was most interesting. Would be very interesting to hear the actual on set singing. When they showed Buffy's, it sounded very different.
I have a real problem with the video though. WTBH ARE THEY THINKING!!!!!!!!!! The Enterprise is a starship. It stays above the armosphere. The only time it enters the atmosphere is when it's destroyed.
@drmayeda1930 it depends on if they need a plot point, in TOS as well as in Voyager, and in the first season of Strange New Worlds, at times it did happen
I'm not sure whose voice I enjoyed more. La'an or Una. Both have amazing singing voices. But Spock. The man needs to get into bass singing. He has the voice for it.

It's a shame this is a one-off thing for the theme. For any other things about this show, one of the best parts of TOS was the theme, and this harkens back to that in all the right ways.
I have virtually no education in music, either music theory or producing music, but I thought I heard a bell like sound that did not sound like it was produced from a human larynx. Not to mention the original Alexander Courage TOS theme at the end. If my untrained ear was indeed correct, would this episode's Star Trek SNW theme music technically NOT be a capella, as I believe ianbui5356 is suggesting? Any musicians care to contribute their opinions? It also occurs to me, would another way of saying not a capella be aa capella? 😀

Does anybody know who is credited for this performance?
It would be hilarious if the main cast did it, but it's probably just a hired choir.
im very interested in this too
I had the same thought about the cast performing it.
Definitely not the main cast.
@@cm9241 Not too surprising, to be honest.
Maybe "MayTree"????? ;)
Hearing this at the start of the episode was such a pleasant surprise!
I am so happy to be watching Star Trek in its prime again

They always do that :)

This series never stops surprising me! This was beyond fantastic! Great job!
UHURA voice was spot on in fact ALL of them did a phenominal job!!
♫ Such a disappointment that Captain Christopher Pike didn't sing the opening monolog. ♫
It would have just been a series of boops ....

Yes, Gene Coon would be so proud of the creativity of the newer shows, as would DC Fontana.

This should. Be the Re-mix for season three.
Just waiting for Pentatonix to cover this now. lol
The best episode in YEARS.. plus less focus on rainbows 🌈.. maybe it’s salvageable after all.
Did you ever find out what group it was that sang the theme?
i did not :( but to be fair ive been super busy so havent really looked deep in to it yet. the answer may be out there!
