if your going to invest in a waterbed, make sure you plan your bedroom right that it will be easy to for you to move freely in the room, once a waterbed is in place and filled (( time consuming)) you don't ((want/need)) to ever remodel your room. Dont place a waterbed under a window ever ,if the glass breaks you very likely will have a severely ruined waterbed, and a royal mess to clean up..
You do need a pedestal. You can just go buy the wood and make a new one. Don't forget the cross supports in the middle. That's what supports all the water.
