    I live in a place where the veterinarians only know 3 things . 1 . neuter 2. Grooming 3. Put the animal down ! I brought a farm here approximately 21 years ago and through trial an error and help from other farmers I have learned to treat all my rescued animals with over the counter meds and antibiotics which are sold without a prescription ! We also grow herbs and plants like insulin etc ! For diarrhea I would give them corn starch and the diarrhea stoped within hours ! None of the farmers here trust vets because their animals would die after a vet visit so we all get together when necessary and figure out what to do on our own ! So far it’s working ! Thanks for sharing your video though ! Peace ☮️

    I tried all of the prescription foods, wet, dry, grain free, hydrolyzed protein, in the end nothing worked. Guess what did though: a raw diet. Literally fixed her diarrhea in ONE DAY of switching cold turkey. I'm so happy my girl can finally be comfortable.

By that time she was thin and weak. We worked another 6 months to gain some weight and strenght. She is much better now. I keep my fingers crossed for you cats 😻.

    I could somewhat understand someone having their cat euthanized if their cat is terminally ill and all possible attempts are exhausted to make their cat feel better and healthier, but how someone would have their cat euthanized because their cat has diarrhea, is beyond my understanding. Some people are sooooo selfish. It's sad.

      Don't judge. Please. Cats could be in so much pain with chronic diarrhea that has lasted for months.

    • @bzsbzs350
      @bzsbzs350 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I agree with what you said, but I think you are misrepresenting what she said. Although she did mention the term euthanized, there were no specifics given for this argument. If you assume she meant people do it just for diarrhea then I can assume she meant after doing everything possible to correct the condition and judging the quality of life. If a cat or person for that matter was slowly deteriorating from a medical condition, was suffering daily, and would in the near future die from it, then euthanasia should be an option. Again, this was not clarified and I feel like you are over reacting. If you are cat owner, which I'm assuming you are, then one day you will be in a personal situation where you have to make a decision on what do when your cat is going to die. You can let it live out its days suffering in your care or have your cat medically and quickly put down to end the suffering. Most people don't realize how hard that is to do if they haven't done so yet, because in fact you are the one making the decision on how soon your cat dies and in what manner. I wish you well with that decison cause it's going to stay with you forever.

    • @kat4animals004
      @kat4animals004 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@bzsbzs350 cats can be in a lot of pain with chronic diarrhea. And then medication to help with diarrhea. And then side effects from that medication. And then using supplements to see if that helps. Then back to diarrhea. And then malnutrition and then losing weight.
      I'm feeling ill because of malnutrition and weight loss and then not wanting to eat because of the pain of the GI upset that doesn't get minimized despite treatments and medicines.
      Facts are facts and I make decisions one way or another off of facts.
      Only person I judge is myself. I don't judge others cuz I don't know their situation. I am my own person and make my own decisions to the best of my ability, I research things and think things through.

      Or they can’t afford to get all the tests ect.. this can be a very real reason for someone to opt for euthanasia. A vet bill can quickly escalate to thousands of dollars. Some ppl simply don’t have that to spend.

    My cats are only 7 months old and have never had diarrhoea since we’ve had them. They are house cats, eat food from the same supplier and we are very careful to defrost it daily and only eat 6 different varieties. I think if one of them suddenly got problems without the other one becoming ill would be especially worrying. If they both had issues I’d suspect it was something they’d eaten but I’d still take them to Paul (our vet).

    I love my cats like family. My long haired 4 year old (who is an OCD groomer and struggles with hair balls) is super spunky and she has struggled with chronic vomiting mostly and intermittent diarrhea. Her bouts last up to a week. We’ve spent hundreds of dollars on tests, X-rays, probiotics and new food for the vet to tell us she has IBS due to stress. We try to keep stress low around the house (we don’t move furniture or change her environment). But it was only when we got her on a diet of wet sensitive stomach food and, MOST effectively, dry prescription gastrointestinal food that she has stopped vomiting! If we are unable to get our hands on the prescription food due to it being sold out, it starts back up again. But all in all I am happy we found a routine that works!

    I got two cats when they were kittens from a local shelter. They've been having diaherrea since I got them in June of 2021. I'm giving them food for sensitive stomach (soft) mixed with hard food (for sensitive stomach) its now September and they STILL have it. The doctor says that they're good and healthy but one of them did have worms. So now I'm deworming them.

      I adopted two kittens from the local shelter as well. One had diarrhea and the other one was fine. They were treated for giardia, but it didn't help and their fecals were both negative. I mixed slippery elm bark in their wet food and it helped a lot. But I also found out that over feeding was a big part of the problem in the one kitty, so giving them smaller portions of wet food took care of the issue. They now get 1/2 can of food (5.5 oz. can) twice a day, and some kibble at night. No more diarrhea!

    My older cat has IBD which has been managed via Royal Canin Anallergenic food and no medicines except B12 shots for the last few years. She’s just started having diarrhoea rather than her normal soft-but-formed poo this last week, which I suspect is because she’s been pinching her sister’s wet food when she gets the chance. So, greater vigilance and a bit of probiotic and we’ll see if she goes back to normal. Thank goodness her IBD has always been mild, no puking and usually only a little weight loss to say “time to change her diet again”.

    Having the same problem momentarily, although it's intermittent. The slightest physical strain & SPLAT! His bowels let go. Especially in the morning. And I'm constantly cleaning explosive litterbox messes throughout the day. Because the tiniest nickel-size amount fouls the entire house in the most wretched way if I don't immediately dispose of it. This includes 2-3 overnight clean-ups, so there's little sleep for either of us. However, I'm exhausted while he seems fine - energetic, playful, beautiful healthy coat; has an appetite & no weight loss at all. He looks great. (Large intestine issue.) I need to get him to the vet but money is tight right now. So, thought I'd seek some home remedies first. The problem started about six months ago at the height of the pet food shortage. I was driving from store to store looking for food he would eat - 9Lvs, Frisks & Aldi brand. And noticed that the food was now a more soft liquidy mush in the newer restocked cans than it was before. Figured this might be what's been causing the problem - too much water. (He won't eat the better foods, no matter how hungry he becomes. I've tried many times to get him off cheap wet food crack & he just howls in misery - for days. It's Hell right now, yes.

    If it's horrendously stinky, liquid, loose, and/or 'cow pile', often tan or clay-colored, try Denamarin. It's a milk thistle/sam-e combo. I gave this to one of my boys because his liver enzymes were elevated, only expecting it to bring them back down to normal range, which it did. No vet has yet to explain (or even cares to investigate why), but it cured my two cats' diarrhea over night. Literally. One pill. They only had one to two bouts (max) a year after that which would require metronidazole.
    If it helps, I recommend you keep your cat on it for life. I only kept one of my boys on it, the one who was always sickest when he would have diarrhea (pitiful panting, pacing, projectile vomiting), and the cat I didn't keep on it developed an aggressive abdominal cancer that took him from me at the age of 9 1/2. I had only kept this one on it for 3 months with occasional month-long pilling.
    Also, if your cat seems to look sick a few hours after eating, ask for a snap fpl, which tests for pancreatitis. One of my boys had that and was treated with amoxy for 2 weeks.
    Hoping this helps someone out there. I had tried prebiotics, probiotics, grain-free food, food that contained only meat and vitamins and pretty much nothing else (Tiki Cat, the most limited-ingredient food I could find, since these vets kept saying food allergies), rx diets (helped some, but still soft-ish stool). Nothing was eradicating it completely until I tried that supplement. Don't know why it helped. It was obviously some shared bug, and I kept telling these vets that.
    Good luck!

    What about constipation followed by diarrhea? Sometimes our cat poops regularly, but when she doesn't it seems to be hard stools chased by diarrhea and it turns into a huge mess. She is missing part of a back leg, and she also has an aversion to water. We may need to exercise with her more, keep her litter box a little cleaner, and we give her wet food because she doesn't like to drink water (a water fountain didn't work), and putting just a little extra water in her food sometimes made her throw up so I stopped doing that. We currently give her four different brands of wet food, but my husband wonders if we should just go back to the original wet food, just one brand, because maybe changing things up too much isn't good? I do want to take her to the vet. Her yearly checkup comes up in a couple of weeks, but I want to take her sooner. She's about 4 or 5 years old, and weighs about 8 lbs. She's had at least one litter of cats that I know of before we adopted her through a shelter. She's insured and she's my very special baby girl, so I'm willing to do whatever it takes! I just haven't seen anything about constipation and diarrhea happening together.

You can also try spring water which is similar to the rain water that most cats like to lap up. You can add about 0.5 to1 teaspoon with a full sized Fancy Feast sized can.

    I am dealing with this right now. I got a new cat from a shelter that my daughter-in-law got one of her cats from. It was a little surprising to me when I found this (approximately 14 month old) cat was having diarrhea, but on further information from my DIL, I learned that her cat had also had diarrhea which had lasted for about 6 months, and over time, became normal. Add to the info, that while we were at the shelter, one of the other cats there happened to go to one of the litter boxes, and proceeded to have diarrhea. Her coat is fine, she is on the thinner side, but not as bad as what you pictured, and her thirst and appetite are definitely increased from what I expected for a cat of her general appearance. My guess: gut bacteria imbalance, or internal parasites. So, I have made a new-cat Vet appointment, but it isn't for another 3 weeks. In the meantime, probiotics added to her food.

      @@zahidbalooshi The diarrhea had improved to very close to normal by the time my vet saw the cat. She was tested for internal parasites at the vet visit, and according to him, no issues with internal parasites. That, plus the fact that with the daily probiotics for cats there was resolution of the problem, brought me to the conclusion that it was gut bacteria imbalance that the probiotics were addressing the problem. On the unfortunate side was also the fact that my older cat flat refused to accept the newer one, and the newer cat kept attacking the older one. So I eventually had to return the new cat to the shelter. I really wish it had worked out, but they refused to accept each other no matter that I did.

      We adopted a cat from a fairly overcrowded shelter at the age of 6 months. She started showing chronic diarrhea. We tested her poop and were told she has tritrichomonas foetus infection, and there are no effective antibiotics commercially available here in Canada. Apparently only ronidazol has a high chance of treatment but it is cancerous to humans and this parasite is commonly found in cattle, which makes the antibiotic availability tricky, since it might end up in human food chain…we’re doing our best with synbiotic action pre and probiotics, and vet exclusive gastrointestinal food, but she’s in a lot of pain every time she wants to poop

      Take your cat to a vet, it could be a diet issues or it could be something more severe. My kitten was having issues and I had to take him back after a month from his first visit.
      I'll tell you what's been working for us tho... Our solution was daily dose of Purina (kitty) fortiflora mixed in with Hill's biome wet cat food (1 can per day, am/pm..I mix on the forti during the am). You can buy the forti without an rx (about $30), but you will need an rx for the hills biome wet cat food.
      Our vet actually prefers the kibble version of biome, but it's out of stock everywhere right now so we got the cans instead. And like I said, it's been working for us! And vet says that hill's biome food has had the most consistent and best results.
      If it's anything other than a gut Flora issue, the probiotics won't work and further tests will need to be done.
      Good luck!

    No diarrhea but yakking. How often is is normal for a cat to yak? My girl who is a serial groomer yaks the most. Yak looks like paste light brown gray. Sometimes undigested pellets of kibble. It was really bad when they were eating Purina Kit and Kaboodle. Was told it was the dye. Stopped immediately Fed 50lb bag to the turkeys ducks and fish turtles and deer. They love it. Switched to Kirkland Super Premium Maintenance Cat. Supposedly no dye. They stopped completely but now after a month some yakking but no where near the other food.

    • @lucarvian
      @lucarvian 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hairballs? The yakking is attempts to get it out. Ours is a medium hair and grooms alot. Try pure puree pumpkin in a can. Not the c@ppy pumpkin filling stuff that has sugar and other junk...pure pumpkin, no additives. We give teaspoon to tablespoon morning and evening, with a tiny bit of water mixed in. Laps it up. The fibre in the pumpkin "grabs" the hair in the digestive track so it goes out with poop instead of getting stuck. We stopped for about 4 weeks and he began to hack it out with bits of kibble, liquid and small amounts of hai. Started giving him pumpkin again, and has not hacked once, and we can see hair in his poop. BTW, we can never use a whole can before it expires in the fridge, so we spread the pumpkin on parchment paper on a cookie sheet..about 1/8" thick or less, and put in freezer, then when frozen, we break up in serving size pieces and put in ziplock. When time, we put pieces, on a dish in the microwave for 8 seconds, and ready to go.

    My 14 yr old blind orange boy was diagnosed with IBD 9/2020 after suffering daily bouts of diarrhea and vomiting. We have him on prednisolone transdermal 5 mg bid. The dose has increased over the past year. This "newer and higher" dose started 4 weeks ago, however, it stopped working. Initially he formed some semi-solid stool, but now it is entirely water and comes out in large volumes. He has liquid diarrhea multiple times per day (4-5 times per day). He is incessantly hungry most likely due to the fact that he cannot keep anything "in". He also vomits daily, and sometimes this vomit is his food that he just ate and sometimes it's stinky poop smelling vomit that is brown liquid in consistency. He has lost another 0.2 lbs, which doesn't seem like a lot, but his current weight is 6 lbs. He still eats ravenously and seems to be happy, but those times are getting less and less common. Another alarming sign is that he primarily sits hunched in a position where he is on all four paws, body low, and head low. I am not ready to let go just yet, but I know that a little tiny man like him cannot last with all the fluids he is losing on a daily basis.

    Thanks Doctor. I have a sphynx cat that has is 7 years old and he has literally never once in his entire life had a normal poop. He has had diarrhea since I took him home as a kitten. Did an ultrasound and blood work and they found nothing and diagnosed him with IBS. He acts normal and has a normal appetite and I aim for sensitive digestive foods, duck and Hills Gastrointestinal Biome etc. Nothing helps except mildly here and there. I also give him Probiotics. Nothing helps my poor sweet Dobby.

      You have my sympathy, your boy’s IBS sounds worse than my girl’s. Have you tried him on Royal Canin Anallergenic if it’s available where you are?

      My cat is also been going through this for 3 years now. I've tried everything mentioned and nothing seems to help. Vets says antibiotics. But it works for a few weeks than she get diarrhea again. I feel so bad for her. But she seems to eat and have appetite. I have to bathe her once a week. Because she has long hair and she gets stinky from diarrhea stuck to her hind. This is so frustrating. I'm so stressed not having any good results.

      @@joeluisishere have you tested your cat for tritrichomonas foetus? It’s what mine has, no symptoms other than persistent diarrhea

    Hi, cat cat is not feeling good. I took her to emergency 2 times in last 2 days but they said she seems okay. But I can feel that there’s something wrong. Maybe she has upset stomach or something. Can I give her otc digestive medicine? She might feel good with it

    Not me watching this whole eating peanut butter jelly sandwich. Just changed my cat's dry food and now his stools are soft. He still eats his wet food though and drinks as well as groom.

    We have had our female cat for 10 days. She has had diarrhea for 5 days. We just got her from the streets so we just set up a vet appointment for next month on the 6th. Vets are so backed up now with surgeries that people can't just walk in anymore.
