I'm not sure how I feel about him. He avoided supporting Kamala Harris, saying he doesn't like her. Why would you humanize a monster. Humanize the sickest depravity dominating our lives. I don't know who he is. On one side, he seems to legitimize Trump and Cohen, and yet he made this film. He must want to show that he is a contradiction just like them. I don't feel love towards him or them. The whole thing turns my stomach. I don't celebrate the humanity in men who don't have any.
Robert Downey Jr and Jeremy Strong played brothers in the movie The Judge. I remember watching them do an interview and RDJ raved on about what an incredible actor Jeremy was. I always think of that when I see him.
i love the iconic "i don't like talking about myself" body language of "let's talk about the thing you're here to talk about" (ie *your* project) *arms cross* "tell me about Roy Cohn" *arms uncross"
Notice how Jeremy doesn't repeat Stephen's description of Cohn as "heartless". That's what makes him such a great actor. He sees the humanity in even the worst kinds of people and he plays that off so well. That's what made his work in Succession so legendary.
Mmm. I don't think you listened to what came directly after that and how he agreed with Colbert! That was the one/only thing he didn't repeat/explicitly agree on and that was the whole thing you came away with?
@@halfvader8015 I edited to clarify what I meant. I was disagreeing with the OP that Jeremy was somehow "seeing the humanity" just because he changed an adjective, to one that's equally evil.
Just saw the movie yesterday with the whole family. Jeremy Strong left me, literally, speechless. It was an insane performance. I named him first bc I thought no one can beat Al PAcino's Roy Cohn from the masterpiece Angels In America. I think he just did. But the same then goes to Sebastian Stan, and to the writer and director, who's approach to depict this period of 'the monster in making' with such a subtlety a sensitivity, that you almost feel sorry for Trump in the beginning, made the film very appealing and thought provoking. I'd never guess you can create such a good movie about such a notorious madman, who, for a long time now, became the caricature of himself. Congratulations!
JEREMY STRONG! You are Ana amazing actor. Just left the theater 🎭 you were amazing as Roy Cohn … 🎉 wow bravo! 🙌🏻 This is brilliant as you were here on Colbert
“We are all inherently human, & most people are not born with evil intentions. While some traits may have a genetic component, much of our behavior is shaped by our experiences & environment from childhood to adulthood” - ChatGPT.😉
the scene they showed was how i was introduced to donald - back when I was a passionate teen. i loathed him then and absolutely nothing he did since changed my mind - only cemented my very dim view of the man. i truly don't understand his fans.
Now if that was written by Mee6 from discord it would have been an epic story about how awesome tacos are... It seriously is obsessed with tacos. 🤷♀😂🌮
Does Stephen know if he is related to King Louise XIV’s Treasurer Jean Baptiste Colbert who “acquired” the Technology of making glass mirrors from Italy? This was used in making the mirrors in the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. Interested. Laurie. NZ.
try running to catch domesticated rabbits who refuse to go back into their respective cages when their dinner of fresh greens are ready to eat XD they might not peck at you, but their claws sure can hurt if you're not careful.
I wish this movie was on a streaming service and not in movie theaters. I just don’t see how a movie that maga will get angry over, played in a theater, is a good idea. IMO.
I'm glad people learn about Cohn now...well... people, who weren't alive back then and aren't from the US.... because it was eye-opening to read about him. Trump clearly admired him and learned a LOT from him.. wich ist really sad, when you think about it... I think Trump himself would be happierr, if someone taught him some different things... I would really like to know how things would have turned out, if someone taught him about empathy... and true human connection... and that there is soooo much out there, that is bigger than one person... and show him how empty everything is, he's after... should AGI help us conquer the 4th dimension... I think this will me my 2nd project after I safe Takoda
It’s a classic tale of the mentee becoming the mentor by choice, not teaching. Ultimately, whatever our ambitions, we CHOOSE our role models, and we CHOOSE our conduct. You cannot separate from it all that Cohn was a deeply closeted gay man, he freakin’ LOVED the notion of influencing a younger arguably attractive man, and that “mentee” already had the insecurities and frailties of a giant ego to cover over his deep, deep, deep feelings of imposter syndrome. Chicken/egg/chicken/egg. Cohn died of AIDS, and not before most certainly passing it on to every man he could penetrate with his psycho sick you know what. In the journey of every human through life, a million decisions on choice of conduct - the path to hell is paved with intentions, it’s why intentions are irrelevant to deciding a person’s character.
Jeremy Strong is just nowhere near repulsive enough to effectively play Cohn. Excellent, exceptional attempt, but I believe that Cohn’s extreme hideosity and repellant abhorrentsity is just too big a burden for any human actor.
Those involved in this film are taking a huge risk; Trump will make the blacklisting of the 40’s & 50’s look like a walk in the park. In fact, it’ll look like Russia. His buddy Putin will tell him how to do it.
My only impression of this guy is: Boring in serenity, boring in The Gentlemen, and a neat hippie in Chicago 7. I thought his insight on the film he worked in was leagues more interesting then the ChatGPT script he bored through. He’s going places.
What an absolute tool. He couldn't think of a story and he didn't want to pay someone to write one for him so he decided to steal one from a play he saw.
I love Jeremy as an actor more than I can possibly say. He's so eloquent, thinks so deeply, and works incredibly hard on his craft.
Very well said

A really good movie with some of the best acting chops in recent years. Especially RDJ and Robert Duvall.

🤣
The subject matter of that movie truly repels me, but I can see just how the main leads took this story seriously. I will be watching it.
You can hear the groans from the audience when Jeremy Strong is describing who Roy Cohen was.
Watch ‘Get me Roger Stone’ as a warm up.
Jeremy is such a wonderful human and such a talented actor
Jeremy Strong is a gentleman, the best actor. A sexy man, my sunshine and I love him.
so real
Only Jeremy Strong could make a Chat GPT result sound so good. Love this man!
The Trial of the Chicago 7, was the fist time I realized the Talent of Jeremy. I can't wait to see the Apprentice.

He called him lots of well-deserved nasty adjectives in the 2nd part of the interview.
He changed "heartless" to "ruthless". That's not exactly seeing the humanity in him.
@@Drnaynay Watch the next part.

Honest take, I typically don’t like the interviews with actors but this was fantastic. A true pleasure😊
When he is relaxed and enjoying himself. He is an interesting and fun actor to watch in interviews 😊
He did an amazing performance in The Apprentice.
Deserves an oscar for it I believe.

There's no escaping the name Roy for Jeremy Strong! He's stuck for life.
He just described tRump to a T while explaining Roy Kohn(?)'s philosophy. Great mentor. Yikes So DoneOld WAS a good student.

A movie about Roy Cohn and the making of Donald Trump. Oh, the horror! The horror !!!
