    To all of you who watch this video and then see the center of town, it is now called the old center and most of the houses have been emptied. They have put up fences around the houses and are going to start demolishing all the houses you see in the film. The church that is also in the video was being prepared to move from the place it now stands to a new location for the church. When you now visit Kiruna, a new center has been opened, as it has been said for a long time, the city of Kiruna would be moved and now it has been done. I was born in 1965 in Kiruna and have lived here all my life and many older Kiruna residents like me call new center the cramped and soulless new center, because there are no memories there when everything is new and you have packed everything into a pit. We also say that now you are killing the soul of Kiruna when you start tearing down the old center that you have grown up in with all its memories that are there. All tourists who have visited Kiruna over the years and returned several times, will think the same.
    So you who have made this film and visited Kiruna, you will also think it is strange if you now came to Kiruna. for the center you visited is now the ghost center, when everything gapes empty.
    You film maker thought it was a lot of snow and was 4 times your height, this was not a lot of snow. You should have been to Kiruna during the beginning of 2020, because during the winter of 2019-2020 Kiruna received a total of 3.25 meters of snow or 325 centimeters of snow. Then the snow piles were higher and you had to shovel the snow away.

    Nice video. Kiruna has been my hometown for more than 30 years. i'm originally from Buenos Aires and moved here to Kiruna in 1989.
    I hope you someday return and take a visit to the new Kiruna downtown that was built and inaugurated for about a month ago.

      @After 30 yeah we did five days in Abisko, two days in Kiruna and two in Stockholm before flying back. When we went it was Jan 2019, which ideally wasn't the best time due to the sun's activity being quite low. Solar Cycle 25 will be at its peak 2025-26 so definitely aiming to go then 100%. Your video's just made me want to go back like tomorrow though! 😅

      I would definitely recommend Abisko if you seek for peace and less tourists around. I haven't booked tour packages, but I did book some activities like snowmobile tour and a sami dinner. It's pricey, have to say, but it was worth the experience. They have wifi at the guest house and you could buy a prepaid sim card in Kiruna. Hope this helps!

    • @after3011
      @after3011  ปีที่แล้ว

      The video was shot last December 2021. The next video (Abisko National Park) shows exactly how I layered my clothes 😊you need to use merino synthetic and fleece as underlayers. Cotton keeps the moisture on your body and cools your temperature, so not recommended! And boots, get or rent good ones cause even with good ones,depending on the temperature,you gonna still feel cold 🥶
