Just for poops and giggles, I opened two windows; one with this version and one with a recording of the original. When synced properly, they not only stay in perfect sync, but the sound becomes so much more full than each individually. I highly recommend doing this and cranking the stereo!
In my opinion this sounds SO much like the original version.. I haven't played portrait of ruin for a while now but this could have fooled me. It kind of feels like some of the music you make is better than what could come out of a genesis, though I'm sure it's mostly your technical skills & ample resources that make it so :)
I really like this cover, listening through some MDR-7506's at work today the FM synth brass patch adds harmonics that emphasizes parts as they crescendo like the passage that starts at 1:03 with the little trills or 2:44 when the pipe organ is added all together. The chorused FM harpsichord plucking away is also nice ear candy in the mix. Great voicing on this one.
