    “I wish there was a way you knew you were in the good old days before you actually left them” I swear that’s the only time Andy felt like Andy this season…

    This is the earliest I’ve caught a field guide release, Chris, thank you for these treasures! I’ve been tuning in since 2020 and never miss an upload. It gave the series a new life for me and something I looked forward to every week. It’s crazy to look back at the early season field guides to see how much you’ve honed the craft. Thank you!

    Dwight: shoots a stack of barrels with a bazooka
    Mulverine: “There’s something so wholesome about these scenes”

      @@TotoDG I would also enjoy it. It’s just funny to me that he referred to it as “wholesome.” 😂

    • @andrewdorie
      @andrewdorie หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BrendanPappas I think the wholesome part is more to do with the way the characters seem to understand each other in that scene and subsequently bond over that understanding. I didn’t think this finale was very strong. I really didn’t like the way they wrote Michael Scott into it as a glorified extra, but I did like Dwight‘s reaction after shooting that weapon and how he seemed, if I remember right, to immediately turn towards Jim when expressing his excitement knowing Jim would accept him and expect his reaction. Anyway, I think that’s the wholesome part.

    • @andrewdorie
      @andrewdorie หลายเดือนก่อน

      Though I don’t know if that’s what the narrator meant when he used the term wholesome.

    • @BrendanPappas
      @BrendanPappas หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewdorie I understated what he actually meant by it. I did from the start. It’s just funny to me that “wholesome” is the word he uses right after showing a scene of someone using a bazooka to blow something up. My comment wasn’t really meant to be taken seriously.

    14:31 I don't inherently hate the idea of Toby getting a bad ending, but it is just strange to see the juxtaposition of the almost children's show-esque, everyone wins, style ending The Office went for, and the gloomy, sad ending Toby got.

    • @jordansweet8054
      @jordansweet8054 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. It's deeply unnecessary; even Jerry and Ann Veal got endings with more decency. But no, the usuperers, criminals and cheaters deserve better endings because....Human Resources is the worst??? It shouldn't bug me as much as it does but it does.

    This was a great series finale. Andy's final line kills me every time. And while I can nitpick that Michael was used in a weird way, I can also see how him saying few words and then leaving means he's finally learned not everything has to be about him.

    Thank you for doing this series, Chris. I've enjoyed every minute of it. I'm still not sure if you're even seeing any of my comments (I think TH-cam has hidden me or something, because I write long thoughtful paragraphs and nothing I write ever gets a reply or even a thumbs up) but hopefully you see this one: You are awesome, and I appreciate the depth you brought to the discussion of a remake of a British Comedy that could have gone the disappointing route of The IT Crowd and Red Dwarf but somehow found a way to make it its own thing.

    About the Phyllis mini statue, the joke is Stanley never saw her legs because he was sitting directly across from her. Obviously he saw her legs at some point but he did not see them all the time.
    For Kevin, while definitely unrealistic, it is not impossible. Technically the bar either owes him $16,000 worth of drinks or owes the customers who bought him a drink $16,000. And while likely unenforceable, there are plenty of bars that are worth less than $100,000. So it is conceivable that making Kevin a partner, making him work part time and having a local celebrity as an employee and owner, made more sense financially than paying out $16,000 in drinks to one guy.

    This is honestly still a mixed bag for me. Love everything with Creed, the deleted Cold Open is terrific, I like some of the payoffs, and its a sweet ending set of interviews but there are just too many issues for me. Tobys payoff sucks. It makes no sense since they established he was corporate and not under regional management's jurisdiction and while everyone else gets a happy ending despite their crimes and crappy actions, his payoff is....Nelly still being a douche and getting invited to the party?? I hate Ryan and Kelly still and the payoff isn't funny even as cringe.
    At what point were we ever rooting for Nellie? And the fact that Nellie,Pete and David Wallace were at the reunion but Micheal wasn't made me angrier than it should have. And the idea that everyone besides Creed isn't in jail or at least under indictment after all their crimes and offenses always takes me out of anything funny or emotional in the episode. But man I love Andy's last line and the last shot. After a long stretch of mixed bag tv, this ain't the worse. I've absolutely loved your series more than I ever liked the show and I can't wait for Community Field Guide!

    I just can't track with the love people have for Michael Scott's reveal. There was zero set up in the episode or, frankly, the last two seasons of the office. He's mentioned like once or twice since he left the show and other than that, the show has completely forgotten about him and all of a sudden he's just there. The excuse that the episode needed to not focus on Michael too much doesn't mean that there needed to be no focus on Michael.

  • @MetalSandman999

    It's only a small thing, but the whole thing about Dwight firing Jim and Pam so they get severance is really dumb. David Wallace has a long-standing relationship with Jim. And Dunder-Mifflin is a relative small company at this point. He's going to want to know why Dwight would fire probably the best salesman in the office (now that Dwight is manager not full-time salesman).

  • @andrewdorie
    @andrewdorie หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know if you’re a diehard fan of the office, maybe you don’t see the show critically (realistically). Because this is a horribly-horribly written episode of television. Why would Pam paint a mural of the office workers in the warehouse without including the warehouse workers? It’s no wonder someone defaced it. And in order to make Pam seem like the innocent, good girl in that dynamic with the warehouse guy, they had to make the warehouse guy physically attack her in the parking lot. Otherwise, she would’ve come off looking horrible, especially when it’s revealed that she was painting a picture of the office workers only. It’s pretty condescending to go down to the warehouse and paint that horrible (horrible) mural on such a huge part of their workspace. Look at Jim. He’s barely recognizable aside from where he’s sitting. Why would she paint herself with her paint set and brush? It’s so cringe and self-involved. That’s one example of why people don’t like Pam, everything I’ve just mentioned and plenty more examples like them. BTW, Jim is just as unlikable to me. They are both so lazy, entitled, dishonest, even to each other, and disruptive to other working class, people in their workspace. I mean, how many times did Jim lie to Pam‘s face without giving it a second thought or ever second-guessing himself in the future? Sometimes he seem to do it because he thought it was protecting her from something but often it was just him being a pretty horrible person. And now Pam can just secretly sell their house and assume Jim will be able to Jim-it back (return) to his stupid company, a company that didn’t have to struggle one bit in order to start working with some of the best athletes of all time? Remember when Jim tried to participate in a conference call at his desk at a different job and while walking around the office of that different job? How does that person casually sleepwalk into better and better things? Why would that company be so desperate to retain Jim as an employee? How does he not know to find a quiet place to take that call? So Pam won’t let him go to Philly? Is that why he was taking the meeting over the phone? That doesn’t explain why he couldn’t have gone home on his lunch break and taken the call in silence or even found an empty office in that huge building that seems to only have two businesses and taken the call there. That reminds me of the time Daryl decided to shoot a hoop at the end of an interview that he had already horribly bombed. Who in his right mind would shoot a basketball at a hoop that looks fake and is mounted over a fish tank in a conference room after a job interview? Even if he hadn’t messed up the fish tank, what if he just missed the shot? Who is hiring these people? How are they climbing ladders? Why would Darrell ask Val to be part of a family picture with him and his daughter, when she still dating her ex-boyfriend and his daughter doesn’t know who she is? Who is riding the show? Why would the writers ever think the audience would relate with that decision? Also, why would Michael Scott come to the wedding without Holly? It’s the wedding of his best friend. What reason could she possibly have for not being there? I could list examples like these examples all day, but for some reason, it’s absolutely impossible to make a comment as longer than one sentence in this TH-cam app. Remember that time Jim wrote a book about garden parties and Dwight somehow found it on Amazon and followed it to a T just a couple weeks later? Who comes up with these ideas? He could’ve just sent Dwight a fake email from an account that looked like it belonged to Robert California asking for very specific things to happen during the party? It would’ve taken him 20 minutes. Remember that time Pam stood up in the office and asked everyone to stop eating certain foods because of her pregnancy? Jesus Christ.

    • @andrewdorie
      @andrewdorie หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why would Pam say Jim doesn’t work at the office anymore? He just quit and didn’t tell his clients? That’s nice of him to make sure they’ll never work with Dunder Mifflin/any of Dwight’s sales team again.
      And Dwight? We’re supposed to believe that he fired two long-term employees who just were in his wedding that day even though those employees probably had no ongoing documentation that would lead to that sort of immediate termination without cause? The first issue is that it makes Dwight look like an idiot when his character is supposed to be highly intelligent. The second issue is that the three of them can be sued for fraud. The third issue is that he would definitely get fired for doing that. It’s so much worse than anything. Michael Scott did.
