Those who lived in Manhattan in the 1970s through early 1990s experienced the serious homelessness crisis of that era. In the late 1970s an average of 6 people per day were murdered in all of NYC. Crime is way down and while homelessness is still a problem it seems many who now live rather well in the city can’t cope with urban life.
Breaks my heart to see these ppl forced to live in the streets with absolutely no protection, food/other necessities, or comfort. Definitely one of the most depressing cities I’ve seen.

@ forced bc absolutely nothing is affordable in nyc even if they tried probably ain’t gonna get anywhere. On top of that a lot of them have health issues that they can’t get the care they need, if they can’t get the help they need, that forces ppl onto the streets.
Hello, I am coming to new York in October. I will be there for Halloween. I come from UK and I will be staying at OYO hotel I Times Square. I have told you in a previous video but now it is getting near to going and I am so excited. Unfortunately New York looks like London and Manchester in the UK with problems with homelessness drug taking and a society so overwhelmed with its social and economic problems. There's a reason why white born and raised natives like me have never been attacked. We know what to look for. My great grandparents lived in New York City - around 22nd street. That was about 50 years ago. A lot of Puerto Ricans lived in that area. I believe at one time it was called Hell's Kitchen. We visited them twice. What a hell of a change from living in Cheyenne, Wyo. I'll never go back to New York. That kind of life isn't for me.
