Thank you so much for sharing! I’m very glad to hear this. Nothing better than the simple joy of going through the cards when you have some time on your hands 👍🏻. Good luck to you…. 🤞🤞🤞. I just love getting them slabbed up too, and knowing that they are safe from me and the elements 😬. Thanks for watching!
I feel for you brother. I wanted to hurl my iPad at my TV during this reveal I was so mad for you. Glad you had time to put it in perspective. Been an absolute pleasure watching you go through this journey. I hope you find interesting things to open that bring you joy.
Thanks buddy! I’m just turning my attention to the 8’s and 9’s… doing my best to turn ALL my attention to those. Can be tough sometimes though. It is still fun though. Nothing compares to opening a Series 1 box… but I still want to complete my other series’. Primarily Star Wars Series 1-5 graded sets. Been missing your stuff! Hopefully you have some stuff in the till 🤞🏻. See ya later!
Great video per usual was hoping they’d have treated you a better but that stack of 8’s is fantastic. Thanks for all of your hard work on this content I’ve enjoyed each and every video and look forward to more!
After taking a few days to completely process this reveal, I would say it's not all that bad. I mean a few 10s and some additional 9s would have been very nice, but the fact is these vintage cards, even pack fresh, are extremely difficult to get in a high grade. Maybe Series 3 would be an exception to this. I have a Series 1 box that I plan to keep sealed, but I had planned on buying another to open as you have done. I will admit, after this reveal I'm a little discouraged to do so. If they were priced around $5K it would make it much easier to jump in, but priced north of $10K makes me a little hesitant. Now, that's strictly from a financial perspective. I do realize your goal is multifaceted, with one being informative entertainment. You have knocked it out of the park in that regard! I can't thank you enough for that. Finally, regarding the corner ding(s), I would definitely communicate with PSA on that. You have solid evidence to make your case. I'm not sure what they will do, but they should give you some free submissions or something. I would think with your submission volume you would be considered a top-tier customer. They should do what they can to make things right. Anyway, thanks again and I look forward to your next video. BTW, my acrylic cases should be arriving today!
Awesome!! …about the cases! Love those things still. So glad I have them. I agree too… about the grades. Literally, once I let an evening pass…. I realized how glad I was to get all those 8’s and 9’s. So fun to look at those. As far as me opening my box of Series 1. I had never really gotten the opportunity to do it when I was younger, so I was making up for lost time. Plus, I wanted a fresh set of the blues. The one set I purchased before, was severely lacking in quality. All this did though, was make me want to open more 🤦🏼♂️😬. It won’t be my last box of those… mark my words 😏. Anyway, you don’t need me to tell you that it is fun, but yah… it’s tough if you’re really expecting AMAZING grades. We know it probably won’t happen. Sure is fun to try though!!
Thanks for the info…I have a lot of vintage unopened boxes…..breaking them down to show results is a lot of work, and I appreciate the time spent, something that in years to come….people will think back when ser 1 boxes were being opened……there comes a time when there is no more available , I started in 1990 when a lot of dealers wanted mars attacks wax boxes for 5,000……in 30 years, I haven’t seen one for sale…..best of luck on your quest for a 8 overall on ser 1…..
Oh wow! I’ve heard that about Mars Attacks! Crazy. Yah…. I felt a real desire to get a box opened… I’m glad I had this fledgling channel to document it on. I’m glad you appreciate it though… it’s definitely fun. Thanks Richard!
Way to go on all the 9’s and the healthy stack of 8’s! I honestly thought you would get even more 9’s and 8’s which is why I made an optimistic guess-the-grade. Enjoyed all your sarcasm, humor, and perseverance throughout the reveal. Looking forward to your next “framed display of graded cards” video. I’m guessing your Lando rookie GEM MT 10 will be in the display 😊
You bet your sweet bippy that the Lando will be in there! Yah… I have to be happy for the 8’s and 9’s… and keep movin’ on on the others. Might honestly resubmit some of those waxy ones. I need to at least.

NO 10's out of 76 pack fresh cards! BS!! I've lost all faith in PSA. I've been submitting since 2008. My pre-submission grade estimates compared to the actual returned grades used to be in the 95% range. Now I scrutinize my cards for days before I send them in. I send in nothing less then 8's in my estimation. Submitted 9's and 10's now come back 8's and 7's. 8's seem to come back 7's, 6's and EX 5's! I cannot find justification for the lower grades either! I thought I was the only one getting returns like this. Watching you video makes me believe everyone is getting the short end of the grading stick on vintage cards. I guess they are comparing our vintage cards to the modern high tech cards of today. Not very fair. Apples and Oranges! Anyway, I enjoyed your video. Thanks!
Man, this was such a big return...I REALLY wish they would've treated you better! I wore a Star Wars shirt and chose my Star Wars coffee mug this morning to send good vibes!😆 Definitely got some nice ones in the mix, but too many 5's and 6's for pretty sharp/crisp cards. PSA says their grading process involves a "second grader" verifying the accuracy of all the grades. Hmmm. Do you think a different grader would look over all those 5's and 6's and go "Yep...You NAILED it John!!!" I'm guessing with grading a Million cards a month, a second grader doesn't even look them over. Not sure if PSA stands for Please Submit Again or Punch Straight to Abdomen? They have such a strangle hold on the card market...it's hard to know why sometimes. All said, this is very fun watching you do this and learning from it. You capture all the range of emotions from joy to pain and ultimately have a great outlook on the whole thing! I really hope you still enjoy doing this stuff 'cause it's fun to watch! 🤩👍
I appreciate it Ryan. Ya, you can only imagine how expensive and laborious it would be to truly grade everything twice. It has to be a quick once-over by the second grader at best. I’m really gathering a nice chunk of cards that I need to crack and re-send in. That reveal has “double slap in the face” potential. Can you imagine if everything came back the same!? Ha! I plan on doing more by the way… just kind of need this upstairs to get finished. Space is getting to be a challenge. Thanks again FYI… I still haven’t mailed your pack . I plan on doing it soon though. Probably when I mail out the other “winner”.
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 The "double slap in the face" makes a "single slap in the face" look like amateur hour!!🤓 The crack/resub experiment is always interesting to me. I've done it on a handful of cards. Turned a couple HGA/SGC 8.5's into PSA 9's. Also had a couple go to 8's. Cracked/resubbed a couple basketball cards that graded up too, but it's all about them TRULY looking like they deserve it! As far as mailing my prize pack, no rush. I'm away on vacation pretty soon until April 1st so it can wait to get to me until after that! Cheers!🍻
Awesome! And what a nice set to have.. and congrats on keeping them in “mint” condition for all this time. If you watched this video, or any of my others… I’m strictly PSA. I have everything graded through them, and therefore I’ve stayed committed to them due to my own OCD issues, and wanting to have everything with the same slab/case. Pretty much everyone says that they have the highest values for the high grades, but if selling is not your desire, then any slab would keep them protected and nice. If they truly are “Mint”, and this grade (9) in the eyes of PSA as well… then PSA is what I would recommend. It will cost you $15/card if you are a member. And you would have to send in 20 cards at a minimum. But this would not be your issue, since you want to send in the set of 66. It’s an investment for sure… but would be well worth it, if the cards come back even 8 or higher. All in all, it would end up taking probably a few months to get them back. But after all this time… what’s a few months. I love knowing mine are all in slabs and protected. Now I’m just slowly but surely, upgrading my cards so that I have all 5 series at a grade that I want them at. A nice slow goal 😬. Good luck on your submission and return, from whichever service you choose! …and thanks for watching!
Any idea on the total print run of series 1 or any of the subsequent series. I’ve looked everywhere, but can’t find online an estimate of how many cards Topps printed.
A lot of good looking 6s to start... and getting a 6 on card 66('666')... mark of the devil... maybe the devil graded your cards!.. that first 5 was a surface wax stain for sure... your grader was hyper-focused on corners(he/she let a lot of strange centering pass)... If it's any consolation, I miss stuff on my subs, too... usually it's surface stuff... My method is to go through cards twice before subbing... the second time I focus on the stuff that I am more likely to miss the first time(surface and edges for me)... With the damaged #56 PSA 9, they likely damaged it during the encapsulation process... It's perfect for you as a customer with a 'before' scan of the card to get them to credit you a fair sale price for that card because you're right that it's a pretty undesirable 9 now... LOL on the "it's a 10, no it's a 5!"... check the backs on the 5s for wax stains... and measure the minsizerq cards because PSA gets that wrong sometimes, too... thanks for the vid!
Ha! Hilarious how dumb I can feel sometimes… I think my wife was in the room then too… 😂. How I could think something was a 10, and then it’s a 5 is just comical. But I’ve never been accused of taking myself to seriously, so who cares 🤷🏻♂️. I should double check things though, especially give more attention to the backs than I have been. I pretty much know me though… I’ll probably just deal with the bent corner card, and just enjoy the fact that it says “9” on it…. and whatever happens with it, when someone (probably not me) sells it… then I guess “buyer beware” 😐. Thanks Ken!
just an FYI -- some of the lower graded cards may have stains and such on the back...I would always flip over the card on lower grades to see if the issue lies there -- really fun sub as I too have been buying/submitting the 1977 Star Wars cards...I just bought some sharp looking cards (the entire run of the 1977 set, all 5 colors)...I can't wait to get them in hand and then submit the worthy ones
Good… luck… to you!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 True though… as you might see on film even, I don’t give too much concern to be backs of them… but maybe I should. Thanks man!
Perfect!! I’ll get it out decently quick to ya! Can you possibly comment below here a few separate times… giving me a little piece of your address each time? I know it sounds funny… but a full address in one comment will get erased. Many people have tried. Thanks! (Or a phone number if you prefer… same process) Thanks for guessing!! Nice job!
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 Just got the awesome ROTJ graded pack delivered yesterday, amazingly packed and I really appreciate the generosity.. thanks man 😉
Most of these are going to be 7s. Doesn’t matter if they are fresh out of packs the print quality back then for “bubblegum cards” just wasn’t beyond NM. You’d be lucky to get a centered one with all the ink lined up right. Keep in mind that Wizard’s of the Coast (the premier in printing TCGs & been doing it for 30 years) recently had a 1of 1 The One Ring card printed for them. It was the ultimate chase card of all time in the biggest set of the year. They added to a random pack & it was perfect. The card was purchase for over a million dollars and came back from grading a 9 mint but not a 10. The card wasn’t perfect even under perfect conditions. Are there any Gem Mint 10 number 1 Luke on the market? I would be curious to know🤔btw R2-D2 was the one we all wanted when I was a kid. I think my friend had one and would trade for anything. & yes we actually traded Cards back in first grade.
Now, my other comment about these videos has to do with PSA and I'm grateful that you post these videos because it shines a negative light on PSA in my opinion. From the hair in one of the cases, to damaging a card they handled - which, BTW is now your worst looking card of the entire submission - but received the highest grade. In addition, the min size requirement cards with no real explanation and subjective/random grades as well as obvious pop control on key cards. It really shows how poor PSA's grading process is at this point. This last submission had to be north of $1000 and PSA should be ashamed of themselves. No quality assurance at all. I wouldn't submit another Star Wars card to PSA.
How can I disagree with anything you said here? All true…. but this is how they get people. Since people see how hard it is to get High scores (my little channel displays it well sadly), people pay a higher premium for them in the 3rd party marketplace. Which makes people want to send their stuff to PSA to get that higher return…. then they realize themselves how hard it is. Then the cycle continues. My issue is, is that I’m OCD, and want my collection to be all the same. I’m close to completing some collections, and I don’t want to have “odd ball” slabs in my collection. So in effect, that makes me a PSA collector as well. Which makes me feel like such a sucker… I feel ya though Derek… I do understand what you’re saying.
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 , PSA does get you with the set registry and building a complete set with different grading slabs would bug me as well. If I go down a similar path as you with my cards, I might do so with SGC.
Yes I do. I’ve pretty much watched them all except for the last Mandaloruan episode… and I have yet to watch Andor, but have only heard great things. Have you seen Andor?
A "4" and a stack of "5's". Not realistic for nice looking pack fresh cards. Really thought there would be a Gem mint or two in that bunch. Love the videos! My bracket got busted on Saturday. Enjoy the games your going to!
Thank you! Yah… brackets are trashed, across the country! It’s just a question of who’s trash is better 😬. But yep… aside from the couple to a few that had wax on them… no 4’s or 5’s should come fresh out of a pack. Perplexing to say the least. Thanks buddy
that means the card got damaged after grading, when it was being placed into the slab...many people go back to PSA on deals like this saying no way this card could have gotten a 9 with that much corner damage...they need to make it right, as they damaged the card
Yah… it’s just such a slow process… it’s annoying. Do you think there is any way that a card with that corner could get a 9, if all other aspects were perfect??! It’s just so bent up, it would be hard to imagine it.
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 zero chance...a corner that bad would go down to a PSA 6 at best, then you have other potential issues with the card to lower the grade even more
Absolutely Jack… I definitely get it now. You could probably watch some of my earlier videos and really get an idea that I was displeased with 8’s. I flat out expected a couple to a few 10’s and mostly 9’s. I get it now. Also, I believed you asked about a video on how to submit cards… I very well might do something along this line…. not that I can judge very well what the results will be, but I have submitted some cards now. I might be able to help a couple people 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks a bunch Jack
I subscribed. I am working on a card platform that will donate repacks of common cards . There are so many common cards of all types that could bring a smile and introduce a kid to collecting. Do you think collectors would donate cards to this. ThNks
I don’t get it…… As late as 10 years ago you could buy (and I did, and still have) a complete set of the 1977 MINT Topps Star Wars cards for about $120. There are THOUSANDS of these cards out there in near mint “8” and above…. Scarcity is the key, and these cards in “8” and above condition exist in the thousands… although the owners are not so naive as to send them in for grading…. The exact same thing happened to the baseball card market… I had 10 or so 1969 Mickey Mantle’s which during the ‘70-‘95 were worth hundreds of dollars a piece. Then eBay came along and it seems EVERYBODY had a Mantel in their closet…. Driving the value down to just a couple of bucks… maybe $50 at the best. These SW cards NEVER sell on eBay for more than a few bucks. This whole Star Wars card thing MUST be driven by the rating companies, who DUPE the gullible into believing their cards are worth a fortune so they get cased and rated.
You’re right in many of these statements. There ARE thousands of these out there… and sets of them (ungraded) still go for around that. I don’t think anyone (or at least me) is truly planning on getting rich from these cards. The fun of it for me at least, is to have a complete set that is protected from the elements, but also in good condition. It has provided quite a bit of joy to hunt these down, and mostly, open them up from packs myself. I’m certainly not trying to get anyone to do anything they don’t want to do on their own. I’m just cataloguing my journey. It doesn’t hurt though… that putting these cards in a state of protection (and grading), that they do seem to hold some sort of value. It’s fun to watch the value go up (and it does go down sometimes)… it’s like anything else. Only do it if it brings you joy. As far as “never sell for more than a few bucks”… that’s not entirely true. I’ve sold some for wellll more than a few bucks. That was only to feed my desire for more/different cards. The grading of the cards does cost money, but it also provides a confidence to the buyer that they know (within reason) what they are getting. These same buyers know that it costs money to get them graded… therefore, that is a good chunk of the built-in price hike. So, an ungraded card might go for $2, and the graded version (if given a grade of PSA 8-10) would garner a price of anywhere from $30-$500. Completely depending on the card of course. It is shocking though…. especially if you are just stumbling across videos on TH-cam, and seeing how people are talking about these crazy values. I get it! Thanks for watching! That’s just my 2 cents.
You seem like a “true” collector! Kudos to you! It’s about the “game” not the “amount!” I saw the first Star Wars 14 times in the theater when it was originally released… and collected the cards a pack at a time way back in 77-78. Around 10 years ago (When Taschen came out with the big Star Wars hardcover book) I bought another complete set of cards which came from unopened boxes… there seemed to be a lot of these unopened boxes around back then. I have been going through my card collection (I have almost every Topps baseball card from ‘69-‘80) thinking about selling them off as they are just gathering dust at this point. I thought I would try and get the 25 or so missing cards from the whole period and offer them in one bundle on eBay… I also have thousands of commons from the same era…. But every time I get the boxes out to see what’s what my wife yells at me!
This is not acceptable by any standard. If PSA had any integrity, they would A) be honest about any damage incurred on their side and compensate the customer, B) include an explanation for grades under 7, even just a standardized list of criteria with ticked boxes. These results make them seem completely unprofessional.

Thanks Ken!
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 Might want to rethink that idea... reach out to PSA and see what they offer...
At 37:56, my thought exactly. That's just wild! 😂
Right?! Has to be a “do right” by them. 😬😂
just an FYI -- some of the lower graded cards may have stains and such on the back...I would always flip over the card on lower grades to see if the issue lies there -- really fun sub as I too have been buying/submitting the 1977 Star Wars cards...I just bought some sharp looking cards (the entire run of the 1977 set, all 5 colors)...I can't wait to get them in hand and then submit the worthy ones
Good… luck… to you!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
True though… as you might see on film even, I don’t give too much concern to be backs of them… but maybe I should. Thanks man!
Great stuff as always!
Thank you so much Daniel!
Amazing mate, that's just wicked. Have an awesome day💥! From HWFAH (Hot Wheels, Lego, Cards & collectables) 👍
thanks for the giveaway offer, I guess I'm the lucky one 😀 I'd love the graded ROTJ pack if that's ok.
Perfect!! I’ll get it out decently quick to ya! Can you possibly comment below here a few separate times… giving me a little piece of your address each time? I know it sounds funny… but a full address in one comment will get erased. Many people have tried. Thanks! (Or a phone number if you prefer… same process)
Thanks for guessing!! Nice job!
@@cobrakai84 thank you! This should work!
Just sent it out! They said it will take one to two weeks… just so you know. Have a great one! Thanks again
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 thanks so much, looking forward to it and love the channel .. keep the breaks coming 👍
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 Just got the awesome ROTJ graded pack delivered yesterday, amazingly packed and I really appreciate the generosity.. thanks man 😉
This is insane. I will.never use PSA
Sorry for so many low grades! Focus on the Chrome Sapphire?
It's all good, you're helping our collecting knowledge!
What did it cost to send all of the 76 cards for grading
10 million dollars.
Which makes me feel like such a sucker…
I feel ya though Derek… I do understand what you’re saying.
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 , PSA does get you with the set registry and building a complete set with different grading slabs would bug me as well. If I go down a similar path as you with my cards, I might do so with SGC.
Good video content would be to crack all them 5s open and resub to SGC to see if they come back higher, lower or the same
Do you enjoy the new Star Wars canon shows on Disney+ like Mandolorian. Book of Boba Feat ect?
Yes I do. I’ve pretty much watched them all except for the last Mandaloruan episode… and I have yet to watch Andor, but have only heard great things. Have you seen Andor?
The only graded Star Wars card I have is Luke #57 and it’s SGC 8.5
Crazy you have a photo of that one card with the bad corner and it’s obviously been dinged after you submitted it. Still they give it a 9 🧐
Nuts…. Right? Pretty darn crazy…. I’m glad it states a “9” instead of a 5/6 though 🤷🏻♂️😬
18:02 That grade tells you they have no clue what they are doing.
The person at PSA accidentally dinged your card hurrying for lunch break and gave u the 9 as a sorry. No way they could've given a 10 out
you do know they grade the back also?
I most certainly do… I don’t think to the same degree, but they most certainly do. 👍🏻
Got my slabs back…just posted the reveal. Tiny compared to your reveals but if your bored check it out.
that means the card got damaged after grading, when it was being placed into the slab...many people go back to PSA on deals like this saying no way this card could have gotten a 9 with that much corner damage...they need to make it right, as they damaged the card
Yah… it’s just such a slow process… it’s annoying. Do you think there is any way that a card with that corner could get a 9, if all other aspects were perfect??! It’s just so bent up, it would be hard to imagine it.
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 zero chance...a corner that bad would go down to a PSA 6 at best, then you have other potential issues with the card to lower the grade even more
Those cards were never graded, they just through random numbers on em. I'll never ever use them again.
This video just goes to show why PSA 8 and higher SW cards are so valuable.
@@e-dubrippinstuff9820 I have watched every SW video you have made. Hope you make more soon.
I subscribed. I am working on a card platform that will donate repacks of common cards . There are so many common cards of all types that could bring a smile and introduce a kid to collecting. Do you think collectors would donate cards to this. ThNks
Starting to doubt psa. Not as consistent as everyone thinks. Good livk
I don’t get it……
As late as 10 years ago you could buy (and I did, and still have) a complete set of the 1977 MINT Topps Star Wars cards for about $120.
It’s about the “game” not the “amount!”
I saw the first Star Wars 14 times in the theater when it was originally released… and collected the cards a pack at a time way back in 77-78.
I’m sorry but PSA Is a joke at this point
