Love great Yarmouth many holidays as a nipper and I'm actually moving down there shortly to start my new chapter in life , all the memories that are sadly no longer ther , the jetty , wax works , logflume and many others are missed but I'm very excited about my life by the sea :)
This is longer than some movies, I may need snacks 🤣🤣🤣......thanks for filming these Neil many of them are so evocative of childhood holidays from decades back and lovely to see how some have changed
Great Yarmouth is a very beautiful seaside town with a awesome looking beach, a nice hotel, pubs, restaurants, arcades, shops and other interesting places, another awesome part in Norfolk and another great video until next time thank you.🇬🇧👋👍🇬🇧
My wife liked Yarmouth and we saw Cannon & Ball on the pier , no fair rides as were over 60 & 70 year old's and can't get out and about now so we watch your program , thank you Arthur.
So, so lovely to see this video. Thank you so much for a wonderful trip around Norfolk. My mum and dad had a guest house on Albion Road when I was a very wee girl. Love and miss Yarmouth. Will definitely have to visit for the day!
We are staying south of Great Yarmouth in Hopton for a week in September, can't wait, there are a lot of lovely coastline and seaside towns to visit and explore on that coast.
We've been touring the east coast this year. Been to Kessingland, Lowestoft, Hopton on Sea and Scratby. Not been to Yarmouth yet, but it looks worth a visit! Thanks for the videos 👍🏻
Love GY. Plenty of things to do for all ages. Merrivale Model village is worth a visit, really well kept with some great quirky scenes. Was down on the seafront recently when the Wheels festival was on. This vid was one of your best 👌 Looking forward to where you go next!
You're a very busy man - and this one's a feature length - you are spoiling us! I've never been to GY so I guess I will just sit back and take it all in... Many thanks 😊👍🏻
Well, the tide was coming in when you were down at the Quay, so you took your time getting to the sea front for the tide to be out at the beach...🤣🤣 I used to live in Yarmouth and will be coming home in a few weeks to see the old place. Bringing the family so I can show the kids where I grew up.
Hi Neil great video. I really enjoyed the tour. I can really relate to your fear of heights I hate walking along the gaps of piers. I try and not look down but I always do! Thanks for posting.
Hi! Been going to Great Yarmouth since 1980!! Used to stay at Vauxhalls until Parkdean changed it too much...Used to come with my nan and loved going on the water chute, the old helter skelter, loved the funhouse back when the inside walls were covered in naughty postcard pictures lol, just love it all. Main thing I miss though is the Wax works, walking down Regent Road and seeing Laurel and Hardy staring at you used to send chills down my spine, loved it!! lol
Peak season😮 I remember walking along the shops and it was so packed you couldn't browse, I bought a pair of cowboy boots for line dancing, and seen the grumble weeds, and canon and ball. Went for many years stopping at Vauxhall. What's happend to England 😢 great video thank you very much👍
I think the holiday seasons have moved now due to cost of living crisis to pretty much just the six weeks school holidays only That is what I’m seeing in each seaside town currently
@@GimbalWalkTV it's not just holidays tho is it, even our towns are empty, I think it's more than just cost of living, it's like ppl have disappeared🤔 very odd times. 👍
Merrivale is lovely. They have an old penny arcade (you can buy pre-decimal pennies to use) and they recently installed retro arcade games - Space Invaders etc.
@@GimbalWalkTV yeah that roller coaster they are on was on the pleasure beach.I'm a massive fan and when I was a young I went on it and made sure I sat in the same one and loved the fact that Suggs had been sat there.🤣🤣😂
The larger space @1:15:25 was where the triple drop, seawater log flume used to be. It was installed in 1989 and was £5 to ride. Busy in the summer, but less than a 100 people a day in the colder months. Was too expensive to run and was closed 2022 I believe. There's other videos available on when it shut. To be fair, imagine how many other rides and attractions you could get in that space and make a lot more money per hour than a huge log flume.
By the way, pleasure beach is no longer free entry. You have to have bought at least a £5 fun pass to get through the turnstiles @1:17:20 but that's not so bad as rollercoaster is £5 for a ride, and if going with others, and you had no intention of riding, you could buy a card and give it to your friend when they get in. Wristbands are the best option for £15 and they use NFC at ride entrances to log you into the ride system

The water one near pleasure beach was log flume but it was having lots of problems with rails leaks. They are planning to put something there no clue what yet
Absolutely love this place I’ve been going for nearly 40 years now many lovely memories
Great place
I've been going about the same, since 1980 and I once made a friend called Julie on the beach! Wonder if it was you lol!!
Watched this on TV with my daughter.Enjoyed it a lot, seeing parts of Great Yarmouth that we don't usually see was lovely.😊
Fantastic - thank you!🙏
I'm going great Yarmouth on monday I'm very happy

I practically grew up in Gt Yarmouth as my parents took us all there every year, sometimes twice. Such fond memories there. I miss it so much.

Fantastic as always!! Your videos are always helping me find more days out, looks like this is the next one 😀👍❤️

@@GimbalWalkTV Thanks. I'm sure I will 🙂
Hi another great video Neil ! I used to go there when I was a kid amazing memories but has totally changed now which is a shame !
I don’t know how British seasides haven’t gone bust in recent years with the rise of package holidays, lockdown and now the cost of living

Yes it’s almost like an involuntary compulsion to look down isn’t it 🤣🤣
Love Great Yarmouth, my plan is to move there some day, especially when i retire
Another great video as usual you say you didn’t know there was a café under the pier well you do now😂
Ha ha I do!
Will have to stop by there one day for a coffee!
