- On 1 February, Myanmar’s military launched a coup that halted abruptly the country’s democratic transition. The military prevented the convening of the democratically elected parliament and arbitrarily detained the country’s civilian leaders, including State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint. The reaction of the people of Myanmar has been resolute - hundreds of thousands of peaceful protesters have taken to the streets to demand that the outcome of November’s election is respected and to call for the reversal of the coup.
The Arria meeting provides a platform for Myanmar voices to brief the Security Council on the current situation from their perspectives and those of the people that they represent. It will be an opportunity to understand the objectives of the pro-democracy movement, including the 31 March Federal Democracy Charter and the movement’s ongoing engagement with ethnic groups and religious minorities.

R2P coming to the Myanmar is the same R2P coming to the Rohingya. There are over 100 native in Myanmar(Burma). Rohingya is just one of the native from Myanmar. Rohingyas civilians were killed by military last years. And now other civilians from Myanmar, over 700 people were also killed by military during this three months (started form Feb 1). Generals from Myanmar are making genocide.

Military controlled channel MRTV announced today on 8pm news that 4 detained civillians from Bago and 19 pro-democracy civillians from North Oakkala, Yangon were SENTENCED TO DEATH with penal code 396.
Follow that news and report it to CRPH. What the Tatmadaw will be doing is a grave crime, human rights violation, injustice. That will be another kind of massacre they have been doing.
They already killed so many civilians and now they are trying to legalise for more. What about law and order for themselves? They should face before court accordingly to their own laws. Corruption, massacres,ethnic cleansing, etc.......

The problems in Burma are actually differences between the National League for Democracy (NLD) party and the rest of the populace. The NLD won an almost landslide victory in the 2015 elections and ruled the country for the first time until 2020. The leader of the party Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was very popular but her government couldn't achieve much in its five- year term. According to many independent poles, the party will surely win the elections in 2020 but it can't win an outright majority to form a government. It seemed that they were unwilling to form a coalition government and tried everything in their power to get a majority. They used many tricks before the elections and all other parties were distressed about that. Many political parties before and after the elections met with the commander-in-chief of the army and asked him to intervene. In the elections the NLD won overwhelmingly getting about 82% of the votes to everybody's astonishment. The parties and the army pointed out the irregularities and asked the Elections Commission but it refused to answer under the order of the President who is vice president of the NLD and who appointed the Commission. The army asked to get answer many times to no avail and decided to get power properly under the constitution when the NLD moved to open a new parliament and form their government. The army arrested the president and NLD leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who instructed her followers in a prepared statement to revolt against the military. Since then NLD members started protests in the streets for about two weeks rather peacefully though. When the army didn't budge they changed to violent demonstrations arousing mostly young people and even young children. Slowly the confrontations become between the NLD youth members and the army in the streets and NLD and the rest of the populace in other areas and in social life. However, as a few hundreds of demonstrators were killed in the streets, the world knows only that the army used deadly force against unarmed civilians. The NLD apparatchiks know how to approach international political leaders to get sympathy while the army leaders concentrate on the rule of law and order in the country. Hence most of the world think the disagreement was between the army and the NLD. The truth is the army is only the caretaker for the preservation of democracy at the request of all political parties and the general public except the NLD party.

The unfortunate thing about the Myanmar military is business as usual. Since the coup, it has been an emotional rollercoaster to watch millions of Myanmar citizens continue to promote and fight for democracy. My hat is truly off to these brave and persistent souls. However, and I do say this with trepidation, I feel that the word democracy, unfortunately, has become a pipedream for the Myanmar people at this time. It is self-evident the Myanmar military's main goal is to place a permanent stranglehold to the neck of democratic Myanmar. The military's crimes against humanity will be seen and heard but will never be acted upon. The rhetoric of condemnation will not stop these atrocities that are being committed by the military. I fear the Myanmar military's actions will continue into perpetuity and will never be held liable for its crimes. Since 1961 the military has become so embroiled in Myanmar politics that the military's power marginalized from 2016 to 2021 has been unbearable for the military from a power standpoint. The way I see it, the world perhaps does not care about Myanmar since it is not a high-value country. This is proven by what is going on in all the reporting about Myanmar. As much as I regret saying this, what I see is that we have another Syrian crisis in the making. The statements made by the people in this video are simply arbitrary, especially when the military takeover is being deemed an internal affair by China. As long as China, Russia, and other pro-military countries support the Myanmar Military coup, nothing will change or improve for the Myanmar people. The UN security council is obviously afraid of China and Russia to usurp the UN's authority on these countries. that is the bottom line. As long as this continues, more innocent people will become displaced and destroyed by the military. Therefore the world and the UN, and its affiliates need to stop condemning and start acting

There's no evidence the junta/military minority will stop their military massacre of Myanmar’s people. Their track record is tyrannical (since the 40s?).
The junta is clearly not capable of running the state now or of reasonable dialogue. Chaotic state failure threatens regional peace. Myanmar needs R2P. The peaceful bravery of Myanmar's people must be recognised - too many amazing unarmed people/children have died in 2+ months.
